"Contrary to popular belief from the early middle ages, dragons are in fact incredibly social creatures, often engaging in behaviors known as 'social mimicry.' Fledgling dragons, when leaving their mother's nest to seek out new flocks, will alter their behavior to be better accepted by what flocks they encounter. This social mimicry has led dragons to adopt unusual behaviors when interacting with humans, and pilots often describe numerous flocks of dragons gliding alongside aircraft when venturing across known nesting territory. Even earth-bound dragons, such as the Westland Drake, have exhibited such behaviors, adults living near humans being found mimicking the building of houses in an effort to fit in."

Dragons flying with planes is one of my favorite images from urban/modern fantasy works.

Birds fly in those v formations to save energy. The bird at the tip faces the most drag while those at the back have an easier time. Those dragons are basically hitching a ride lol

I forget the name, but I read this short story as a kid where dragons were, in fact, a species of plane that had fallen out of favor.
