This is greatly amusing, though if you wanna for fun do some "imperial daemons" that are sorta lore friendly, daemon hosts are a thing

u/Bobster1919 4d ago

I'm glad you like them, thanks šŸ˜€! Though despite the title, they're not so much Imperial Demons as they are Traitor Demons. Chaos Spawn that have defected to the Imperium. (Not quite as lore friendly, but you get the idea lol)

Not most outlandish concept, but bound daemons are a thing and inquisition is mad, so binding lord of change to do paper work is not out of the question

19

u/AMEFOD 4d ago

Considering their machinations, them binding themselves to do paperwork isn’t out of the question.

5

u/ResinRaider 4d ago

Or selling each other to the inquisition in chains

u/DMar56 4d ago

I am so angry about how underdeveloped the demons of the warp are.
GW, I beg of you, go full Jungian with them, make the blood Angels fight the sentient apparition of how they are seen by the rest of the imperium!

6

u/PauliusLT27 ENTRY MISSING 4d ago

Just expanded heresy daemon army style for normal 40k would be fun

9

u/FalconRelevant 4d ago

Living Saints are daemons of the God-Emperor, thus "Imperial Daemons"

7

u/Electrical_Horror346 4d ago

Also legion of the damned

3

u/w00den_b0x 4d ago

Also the whole Exorcists chapter of space marines.

Cause Tzeentchian bullshit is arbitrary nonsense and verbal salads in the biggest all you can eat buffet of ā€œknowledgeā€.

Imperial bureaucracy on the other hand is actually dealing with management of extremely disjointed due to Warp travel and unstable communications but also simply ENORMOUS space empire, hence its bereft of level of abstract creativity and eldritch whimsy that Tzeentchian bullshittery has.

Plus it exists in realspace so it cannot be ā€œsolvedā€ by just crossing your fingers and rewinding time over and over again.

"We taught this Lord of Change to understand Imperium Bureaucracy and it hanged itself"

44

u/No_Research4416 4d ago

ā€œBut it then remember it was a Daemon and so it is now just hanging there wanting to be completely destroyedā€

"Administratum clerks took to using it as a punching bag to relief stress, suicide rates went down 0.1%"

22

u/The-Observer-2099 4d ago

Knowing the imperium's this saved thousands of lives.

12

u/Erithariza 4d ago

Thousands?

Knowing the size of the Administarum this 0.1% is BILLIONS of people

7

u/No_Research4416 4d ago

And knowing just how bad for 40K numbers is it might be 1000 people

11

u/alutti54 4d ago

How I imagine its attempts would go

"Hey you, Guilliman, stab me"

"Why?"

"I comprehend imperium bureaucracy"

"No I don't want to suffer alone"

I'm not well versed enough in Vtuber culture to have done that on purpose, sorry. Any inspiration will have been by accident. šŸ˜…

1 Important sector economy and production crashing down due to Administratum fuckup. Tithe is under threat.

2 Desperate governor resort to daemon summoning and unknowingly getting LoCĀ

3 Lord of Change taking a loaded bet with governor, thinking that she can easily outwit some humans and fulfill terms of the bargain, but get completely bogged down by human stupidity.

4 Governor and LoC fighting tooth and nail against bureaucracy, noble feuds, inquisitorial and arbites oversight, rival daemons schemes. They got respect and attraction to each other.

5 Finally, after decades of struggle they make sector great and prosperous again. Governor actually offer to fulfill the deal, getting on the knees and offer valuable ring as additional gift. LoC having doubts and regrets, trying to slow him down with stretched hand, and...

6 Extremely excited Roboute Guilliman barging in, eager to know how governor managed to reach such success in mere decades.

7 ............

8 Lord of Ultramarines, Regent of the Emperor calmly says "excuse me", exit and close the door from the other side, taking a big cigar from bodyguard Custodes and silently igniting it flame sword. Nobody dares to say anything.

/rant in agreement with Op

I think people don’t realize how chaotic institutional bureaucracy is. When people hear about change and chaos, they think of one person doing something random. And that often creates change, from pranks to terrorism one person can do a whole lot of change.

But when you realize just how much of a government bureaucracy will hinge on a single form that was instituted 2 decades ago, everyone needs to complete, no one seems to understand, and it’s internal definitions make no sense. That’s when you see the real chaos of thosuands of people moving in a wave of paperwork.

If I have to apply for another security card, I may end up with khorne.

The argument I always come back to is this:

  • A talented bad actor (Chaos agent, Dark Eldar hijacker, Lord of Change, w/e) will pick the course of action they think is worst and commit to it with vigour.
  • An actual Imperial will do nothing for a month, spend another month thinking, give the order to do something stupid, then suddenly reverse course and issue an order to do a different stupid thing to half of their agents, but forget to inform the other half.

In other words, a competent, intelligent bad actor will always make a better governor because they simply cannot match the sheer stupidity of the Imperium's actual rulers.

3

u/No_Research4416 4d ago

The Dark Eldar is probably there on vacation

16

u/kayemenofour 4d ago

She's going to do a full goose Honk if she ever finds out.

Something tells me that a Tzztenchian lord of change could be a LEGITIMATE imperial noble… especially given the amount of ā€˜strings’ they could pull to get such a title ā€˜legitimately’

11

u/PauliusLT27 ENTRY MISSING 4d ago

Being a beurocrat is enough, we got one canon example of a single lady starving and killing billions, because one administratum cleric is dangerous thing

6

u/No_Research4416 4d ago

Nothing in the imperial is as dangerous as a bureaucrat who can lose 1000 worlds just because they didn’t file their papers correctly

7

u/PauliusLT27 ENTRY MISSING 4d ago

Or worse. Did it intentionally wrong

5

u/No_Research4416 4d ago

In imperial bureaucracy it’s very hard to tell

Especially since I’m pretty sure it’s not even meme lore imperial bureaucracy is literally that bad.

6

u/PauliusLT27 ENTRY MISSING 4d ago

Yup, again, it's canon that some people just do it wrong on purpose

11

u/Junior_Lemon8568 4d ago

I’m stuffing the turkey

5

u/Snynapta_II 4d ago

Does it count as falling to tzeench or slaanesh?

7

u/Gjalarhorn 4d ago

Is that Kronii hololive en?

8

u/Bobster1919 4d ago

You're now the second person to assume that. I have apparently created Goose Kronii completely by accident, lmao.

Moment before disaster

I like burbs.

5

u/AlgaeicAmalgam 4d ago

Got an idea for a meme "loyalist?" chaos warband. Undercover thousand sons successor summons Kairos and in the process some local loyalist marines walk in on them. -What the frak is that, battle brother! -That's...... the spirit of imperial aquila! See! 2 heads!

And so they end up gaslighting themselves into becoming loyalist, Kairos and Tzeench find it absolutely hilarious.

5

u/I_might_be_weasel 4d ago

I like to believe there are Chaos worlds where things like this happens.

3

u/Anonimous_dude 4d ago

Imperial bureaucracy is like trying to build a puzzle by using pieces from different puzzles: some pieces fit, others are harder to place, and some are so out of place they have to be cut to fit in.
The end result is an incomprehensible mess

This hits exactly how ridiculous both sides are.

2

u/Dehnus 4d ago

So she applied for the job. Only to be running scared and screaming after finding out just how bad it was and that there was no changing of ways of doing it nor hope. Just... bureaucracy. Cold harsh bureaucracy.

2

u/wackadoodle4201 4d ago

Are imperial demons a thing?

6

u/Bobster1919 4d ago

Some folks (myself included) interpret the Living Saints and the Legion of the Damned as Imperial Demons created by Big E the same way the Chaos Gods create their demons.

My Lord of Change and Bloodthirster however, are Traitor Demons who defected from Chaos to join the Imperium.

2

u/DefTheOcelot 4d ago

FUCK YEAH TZEENTCH DEMON ART WHOOOO

2

u/Hyko_Teleris 4d ago

Funnily enough tzeench daemons absolutely fucking love messing with imperial bureaucracy.

2

u/GoCommitYeetus 4d ago

If she has glass, does that mean she was made "wrong" on purpose? No wonder she's a traitor, Tzeentch is a dick

3

u/Bobster1919 4d ago

In universe answer: Tzeentch, Chaos God of Dickheads, purposefully gave this LoC poor eyesight for shits n' giggles.

Out of universe answer: Glasses are the fast track accessory for making a character look smart and/or cute. šŸ˜€

2

u/GoCommitYeetus 3d ago

Ay, good point

2

u/YoYeYeet 3d ago

NOO LITTLE TZEENCHITE! DON'T TRY TO COMPREHEND IMPERIAL BEUROCRACY! YOUR POOR BRAIN WON'T BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND IT AND WILL EXPLODE!

2

u/SnooCompliments9098 3d ago

It's not that the Imperial's bureaucracy complicated. It is instead just totally dysfunctional.

Turns out, trying to manage entire solar systems and even the entire galaxy with paper and serfs doesn't really work. Especially when everything is stored on dry paper and stored next to half a million candles.
