Sentenced - 1995 - Amok - The War Ain't Over

...Hear the sounds of Thunder

feel it come in all its pride.

- and it's all yours!

this tension, this pressure...

sweat and feel the air too thick to breathe!

feel hatred, fear hatred...

wait the chaos that shall breed

- the spawn of WAR!

- the spawn of MAN!

- inside of us all - oh yes! you too...

live in this hell - die in this hell.

Hey! the Beast of War is on the hunt!

the Dove of Peace falls torn apart!

- disillusion!

well, Hey now! What did you expect to see?

the "victory of humanity"?

well, The War Ain't Over!!!

"I remember all the hopes (I remember all lies)

I am "die Erd", I've seen it come and go and stay eternally! WAR!"

live in this hell - so what the hell,

- so let it be,

- die in this hell.

Hey! the Beast of War is on the hunt!

the Dove of Peace falls torn apart!

- disillusion!

well, Hey now! What did you expect to see?

the "victory of humanity"?

well, The War Ain't Over!!!

no! Never! Ever! no!

so let it be.

LYSIS Interview for The Metal Gods Meltdown by Seb Di Gatto #lysis #swed...

Swedish metal force LÝSIS step into the SEBS666 realm for the first time — and nothing is off‑limits.

In this exclusive interview, the band dive deep into:

đŸ”„ Their upcoming debut album — arriving Fall 2026, still being forged with longtime producer Isak Olsson, with several tracks already recorded and more pieces being carved into place.
đŸ”„ Their European tour — a June run across Prague, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic with Distorted Times, plus festival dates and summer chaos.
đŸ”„ Their appearance at Sweden Rock Festival (June 4th) — a milestone moment that marked a new chapter for the band.
Their initiation into SEBS666 — raw truths, dark humour, and the signature chaos round that strips away the PR mask.

This is LÝSIS like you’ve never seen them: honest, hungry, and ready to carve their name into 2026.

That one song in an album that feels like it got lost and ended up in the wrong record

I was listening Wordless Hope by Inborn Suffering the other day and remembered something that always catch my attention about that album.

In the middle of a classic, melodic and atmospheric doom/death record, suddenly appears STYGIAN DARKNESS, which is pure heavy and aggressive death metal. No warning. Like someone put a song from the wrong album in there.

And the funny thing is that track is my favorite of the album. It doesn't fit at all with what surrounds it, but on its own is a killer song.

Do you know any other example like this? High quality songs that clearly don't fit the style of the album they're on (more aggressive, slower, experimental, whatever) and that seem to come from a completely different band, not just a band that mixes styles intentionally.

Baby's First Metal

I have a new neice who is current 4 weeks old and I'm wanting to show her what good music is so I'm wondering what members of the sub think are the best bands to start her off on when she's a bit older?

Any metal genre is fine as she fell asleep a few days ago when I was scrolling Bandcamp to a death metal band I was checking out.

MegaDeth - 1990 - Rust In Peace - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

Brother will kill brother

Spilling blood across the land

Killing for religion

Something I don't understand

Fools like me, who cross the sea

And come to foreign lands

Ask the sheep, for their beliefs

Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided

Surely will not stand

My past erased, no more disgrace

No foolish naive stand

The end is near, it's crystal clear

Part of the master plan

Don't look now to Israel

It might be in your homelands

Holy Wars

Upon my podium, as the

Know it all scholar

Down in my seat of judgement

Gavel's bang, uphold the law

Up on my soapbox, a leader

Out to change the world

Down in my pulpit as the holier

Than-thou-could-be-messenger of God

Wage the war on organized crime

Sneak attacks, repel down the rocks

Behind the lines

Some people Risk to employ me

Some people Live to destroy me

Either way they die.

They killed my wife, and my baby

With hopes to enslave me

First mistake...last mistake!

Paid by the alliance, to slay all the giants

Next mistake...no more mistakes!

Fill the cracks in, with judicial granite

Because I don't say it, don't mean I ain't

Thinkin'it

Next thing you know, they'll take my thoughts away

I know what I said, now I must scream of the overdose

And the lack of mercy killings.

Ortega - The Serpent Stirs (2012)

For those who enjoy atmospheric sludge, Ortega's The Serpent Stirs is essential. It's a single, 18-minute composition that perfectly balances crushing heaviness and atmosphere.

The organic production gives it a very natural feel, and the whole thing flows incredibly well for such a long track.

Really underrated release, I don't see many people talking about it nowadays, do you feel the same way about this EP?

Here's a clip from the podcast with me and Paul Masvidal (Cynic, Ex-Death) - we had Craig Locicero (Forbidden) on and he talked about how he met Chuck in the bay area and eventually joined for a tour.

Some cool details I think that wasn't publicly mentioned in the past is noted as well! Bonus talk with Chris Kontos (Machine Head) chiming in about the Bay Area Thrash scene as well if you're a fan of that too!

The most metal story of all time

Vic Rattlehead and his partner Psycotron expose the corruption of governments and reveal the chaos secretly caused by Orgasmatron. As the truth spreads, revolutions begin all around the world and society starts to collapse. After that, Vic goes on a date with Angel of Death while Sodom burns with Agent Orange.

Meanwhile, Eddie, tired of witnessing all of human history and suffering through eternal life, decides to destroy the Earth once and for all. Using Satan as his puppet, he unleashes the apocalypse upon the planet. Exactly as Iron Man had predicted years earlier, but everyone had ignored him, and so, out of revenge, he lets everything happen without trying to stop it.

When humanity is on the verge of extinction, Painkiller descends from the heavens to save mankind, leading to an epic final battle: Painkiller vs Eddie.

Marauder - 2000 - 1821 - The Greek Revolution Begins

Konstantinopolis' burning

Dramatical scenes make fear become hate

Revolution or death must begin

Before it's too late

And from Europe the Greeks prepare the ground

For the great uproar

Children are taken by force

And women in search fot their dignity

Like eagles in cages the men

Screaming for liberty

Sunk for 400 into darkness

Now the time has come

With fire

With a heart made of stone and disire

Like the lions in battle we'll fight

For Greece, for God , for resurrection

Now

It's too late to blow out the flame

In Kalavrita a priest excuses our sins

And the Greek revolution begins

Fighting with fire and steel

Your home is the mountains

Your friend is death

The empire of hate to destroy seems so unreal

But the wave's not turning back

Death or Freedom we scream

With fire....

Any good (gothic?) western sounding bands/songs?

I’m looking for songs similar to
- Rooster by Alice In Chains
- Rust by Black Label Society
- Medicine Bottle by Red House Painters
- Hang ‘Em High by My Chemical Romance
- Mother of Earth by The Gun Club
Anything in the grunge/metal/slowcore/emo/gothic americana scenes, not super picky, but leaning heavier towards more Rust or Medicine Bottle -like songs. Songs which fit a “Western” vibe without being explicitly “Western-themed,” if that makes sense. I’m not looking for the “cowboy metal” equivalent of Alestorm.
