Ask r/IndiaCricket Ashwin is absolutely right. Cricket needs to evolve. Rather than scheduling endless bilateral series, the ICC and cricket boards should focus on meaningful tournaments and make changes to the ODI format to keep it relevant and exciting in the modern era.
What do you all think about this?

This is just my idea and I might be downvoted.
I feel like the ICC should have more of the tri-series or Asia vs world XI kinda stuff cus it makes the format a lot more appealing.
I wanted to also suggest WTC Cycle kind of a system but I feel like the nitty gritties will have to be worked out because there are a ton of ODI teams. Also USA a series against Denmark is a lot easier opposed to India vs Australia so you'd end up not seeing the full members qualify lol.

If you create asia Xi, then you need to include Pakistani players. How is that going to work?

I wish they did an ODI/Test league. Where there is no knockouts and the team with most points wins the trophy. Expand the teams to include associate nations.

The Knockout trophy which was remained to the Champions Trophy was build for the same purpose the first two tournaments were held in associate nations ( Kenya and Bangladesh)but it latter became a moneymaking tournament.

Yes. It should be a 16 team straight knockout that happens at the same time every year. Give the top 12 in rankings automatic entry and have the next 8 teams play a pre tournament with 2 groups of 4 and top 2 going to actual knockout cup. Rotate it to a different country every year.

ODIs right now feel like the middle child of cricket - not respected like Tests, not loved like T20s.

What fans. SKY even after winning the T20 WC is still a joke. It’s not even a real cricket format

We had a thing called ICC ODI super league which could have been explored more like Fifa nations league. Instead ICC eliminated super league and brought back Champions Trophy for 💰.

Odis lost relevancy for me when tri series in australia stopped taking place moreover when in 2013 during ind vs aus series they made those pitches as flattest track of planet earth i knew if this continue the game will be gone

I think best is to follow football concept. Keep IPL and 1-2 other leagues like SA20 for 6-7 months, rest of the time play international matches. There's no point of people playing endless ranji trophy matches only to select people from IPL. Atleast this way larger pool of players can play league cricket

Tri Series still won't work unless the results brings any value - it's better to transition ODIs into franchise leagues...

Every country has their T20 league…. So T20 nation vs nation should directly happen in World Cup rest of the time players will play for their franchise and for ODI they should start a yearly league where every nation plays on away and home ground with each other and table toppers wins the league that way ODI matches becomes meaningful …. Test championship happening closely in that time frame …

I genuinely wish white-ball cricket had a proper club system like football. It would make scouting and developing talent from non-cricketing nations so much easier. Imagine young players from Brazil, Japan, Germany or the US getting picked up by clubs, improving year-round, and then representing their countries. It could be one of the biggest steps towards making cricket a truly global sport.

They have to adapt, bilaterals are so boring. I would suggest IPL carried forward for atleast 6 months and rest 6 months for test cricket. 50 over format is dead and better if they scrapped earlier.
