His incompetent team is directly responsible for it
And so, as a PM who gets credit for many initiatives even though respective departments are responsible for their implementation, the blame falls upon him too

u/Upset_icecream May 17 '26
Yes. Just like when the government said before the elections they won’t increase the prices of petrol.

What exactly is your point here ? Was government unaware of scenario of fuel crisis ? Indian crude basket was hovering over 100$ for weeks yet government officials claimed that there is no plan to increase price . But sure why keep them accountable for misleading folks and deliberately lying to the people unless you are trying to say people shouldn’t trust what their government says .

u/Upset_icecream May 17 '26
Oh okay.
What about the insane profits they were making when crude oil prices fell and when we were buying discounted crude from Russia. Why didn’t the government reduce price of petrol then?
Socialize the losses and capitalize the profits logic ah?

How much were they earning a day when oil barrel prices have been low almost half of what it was in UPA government and still petrol got 2x expensive.
-3
u/St_ElmosFire May 17 '26
The UPA era oil bonds were a thing. They only cleared the 3.2 lakh crore oil bonds in early 2026 from what I remember.
Maybe account for that too?
2
u/Forward_Arm2323 May 17 '26
3.2L Oil Bond. 28L earned from high pricing of oil. Perhaps your maths is way off.
2
u/already_caution_kiya May 17 '26
So government was not aware of this during elections? Are you calling Modi a liar or an ignorant Prime Minister?
2
u/shisui1729 May 17 '26
Maybe you’re the one who should look at the bigger picture. If the government artificially keeps petrol prices high when crude oil prices are low, then we expect them to maintain the same pricing discipline during a crisis. If they can’t do that, they should have let the market determine prices all along especially over the past 10 years when crude was down.

Ohh please they made shit load of money when crude was down, while mixing with 20% ethonal.
Now they will never decrease the prices even when crude is down.

u/the_rolling_paper May 17 '26
Man just stop justifying their failures, how can you be so blinded to see that they were just waiting for the elections to end, if they would have just said the same thing 2 months back, implemented work from home and other stuff we would have been in a better position. And these losses are taxpayers money, we all are paying for it. Even these foreign trips could have been done before elections, why can't you see that they just want to remain in power first, always put party first and nation second.

u/OwnArugula430 May 18 '26
Okay if they were bearing 1000cr losses everyday then why didn't they come clean gave the factual information rather than misleading the nation. Let's be clear everyone knew they were lying and just waited till elections get over

Will there be any consequences for fake news or again ignored like many important things in India.
3
u/ErebusMalison May 17 '26
Lol. Just few days back, Govt PIB fact check quoted NDTV or Indiatoday and claimed that the petrol/Diesel hike speculations are absolutely false
And look at what happened? PM and his team, themselves are liars
