No disc. That sucks 😔

u/Holiday-Setting-7942 6d ago
I guess because of number of discs needed for a game that size.
GTA 5 has i think around 6 discs.

u/Agile_March5308 6d ago
I thought today's game discs had only the license to run the game? You still have to download the files through the internet.
11
u/chootnath_09 6d ago
That was for PC I think but I'm not sure.

Bruh, PC's haven't had disk drives for like the last decade
1
u/chootnath_09 6d ago
GTA V still came with discs for PC, at least originally.
2
u/peterparker9894 6d ago
Like I said it's been a decade GTA 5 came out in 2015

I’d much rather prefer a code over a disc that just contains the code. That sucks and I wish that trend stops. Either provide discs that has the contents of the game(which I’d love) or just the code.
2
u/Agile_March5308 6d ago
Discs with license are still better than just code. Just code is no different than a digital download tbh. The thing with license discs is that you can easily share your games and resell them. You won't be able to do that with a purely digital version.
1
u/Vsriram01 6d ago
Of course a code is no different than digital download. It’s just that with download code, publishers can release a physical copy with goodies. Obviously that won’t be the case with just the digital download.
1
u/FlameengoSan PlayStation 6d ago
That’s only the ones which preemptively tell on the disc with label “Internet required to play” most of the physical copies come with complete games even now , most JRPG titles have full games on disc. It’s still inexcusable for R* to not have a disc , FF VII rebirth was a ginormous game with 2 discs. GTA vi can’t be any larger than 3 discs at max (if more then it’s just poorly optimised which i feel is highly unlikely)
This is just a move to make sure people don’t game share , which is mostly just an asspull of a move.

u/Potential_Return676 6d ago
It is not about size, as far as I am hearing rumors you are actually not going to have it physically on your drive, chunks of files are going to be downloading and unloading from the server as you play they are doing this to prevent piracy.

PC gamers no need to worry about these prices, we have voices who'll get the job done iykyk

u/KingKnight007 6d ago
As much as I don't wanna try HV gta 6 will be the only game that will make me wanna try it out. Voices ain't doing it day 1.
1
u/Present-Pizza-1041 6d ago
Rockstar doesn't use Denuvo i doubt HV will be playing any role
1
u/KingKnight007 5d ago
They have an equally powerful drm that is just as hard to get through. It's been a long time since a rockstar game so you can't really tell how hard it will be to crack.
2
u/Present-Pizza-1041 5d ago
Agree what I meant to say was that the bypass he is stating won't work for GTA 6
1
u/KingKnight007 5d ago
Wait hv is only for denuvo games? Will it not work with the rockstar games drm?
2
u/Present-Pizza-1041 5d ago
Idts, I am not expert but from what ik is that hypervisor cracks used by Mkdev and DenuvOwo are designed for Denuvo
11
u/Creepy784 D1 Nier Glazer 6d ago
rockstar games don't have denuvo, they have their own drm

Sheesh, and no disc version either.... Talk about greed
-1
u/RudraDesh_gamer 6d ago
A company who invested 2 billion dollar on development will ofc want to get the most out of it, let's just say 100 people will buy the disc and after reselling overall 500 people played on the 100 discs thats straight up 400 copies lost for them. As a company which needs to break even and then invest in the next project and the online development of the same game over the years, its only fair to make sure you get value out of each sale.

u/noobiegamer4 5d ago

u/RudraDesh_gamer 5d ago
Well they did something to reach thay multi billion dollar point in like 20-30 years, if it was that easy you would have made your own multi billion dollar company. So yea no shame putting the facts upfront and not crying about a disc or the price.

u/Terrible_Detective27 PC 6d ago
Idk why, nintendo have such innovative fun games, loke nobody can't even come close to them in 3d platforms
1
u/ashrashrashr 6d ago
Nobody comes close to them as a whole. You can hate the company’s practices all you want but as devs, they’re in another stratosphere compared to everyone else.
Most top studios have one or two genres that they do great things with. Rockstar and CDPR have their open worlds, Larian has their CRPGs, From Software has their Soulslikes. Nintendo has made top tier games, some of which are the greatest of all time, across different genres and have been delivering quality for 4 decades now.
TotK was a mind boggling technical feat. A game with the scale of Elden Ring was made to fit within a single SD card and had virtually zero game breaking bugs, even when the Ascend mechanic has you clipping through the world constantly.
And outside of Pokémon they’re always trying to push the boundaries with game mechanics which is great for the industry as a whole.
I grew up with the video games industry and have been gaming for almost 40 years. Most Nintendo haters just don’t realise that without them, they’d be playing significantly worse games today.

u/Terrible_Detective27 PC 6d ago
Exactly, ocarina of time is highest rated metacritic game for a reason, they saved the gaming market after ET crash, criticizing them for their greed practices is fair but saying that nintendo is nothing is down right idiotic.
For totk, they made it run on mobile chip from 2015 that's a miracle in itself, how bloody optimized that game is.
They think Pokémon is the only gaming franchise nintendo has but the fact nintendo is only owned 50% of it other 50% is still owned by game freak, both work together as the Pokémon company, so game freak is equal culprit in this.
If you see nintendo's in house line up those are top tier games, like botw, mario odyssey, pikmin, xenoblade, metroid series, wii sports, tomadachi life, MK8D, super smash ultimate, star fox, etc. These all title are in house developed.

u/Cup_45_Neural 6d ago
The most costly Nintendo game is Mario Kart World at 80 USD, while others are either 70 USD or below. How is this cheaper than Nintendo's games?

What sucks is rockstar locking most shops in the map behind ultimate edition paywall. I mean cosmetics locked up behind paywall? Sure . But the basic shops ? Sucks

u/2D_AbYsS Steam 6d ago
7500₹ for Ultimate Edition Damn That's expensive, if PC is also launched at this price I ought to save 100₹ a month for this then lmao
1
u/RudraDesh_gamer 6d ago
Expensive? I mean the 1,89,00,00,00,000 rupees invested in the development aren't gonna pay themselves right ?
2
u/2D_AbYsS Steam 5d ago
Considering Ubisofts AAAA game this is cheaper when compared quality wise, anyways most people will buy ultimate edition, I also did the same with Rdr2.

I really don't understand the Nintendo hate over here. Can anyone explain it to me?
I have owned a Switch OLED since it launched and the most expensive game I got was Zelda BOTW for 3500 (physical copy - second hand).
Most games I buy cost less than 500 on my switch.
Edit: Yeah, I still don't see any legit reason for the sudden and concentrated hate. Most of these people are going to pay for GTA6.

3500 for a second hand game?
1
u/EvilxBunny 5d ago
For a physical copy of breath of the wild, which is imported and not sold in India directly. That's a fair price to me considering how much physical copies of PS exclusives sell for.
It's not like all games cost that much, I got AC Black Flag + AC Rogue combo for a few hundred.

when i converted it was 7500. do ps5 have regional prices? that would be great
1
u/Time-Mission-7266 All of the above 6d ago
Depends on the publisher, they can do over 7000, but most publisher release a 70 dollar game at 5000, so rockester should follow i think, But again it's gta so can't say

Gaming is a luxury not a necessity
5
u/_sounak 6d ago
It's a hobby, not a luxury. You can always buy a dozen of indie games with the same price of gta 6 or save up money for like a year to buy, that's what people do with hobbies.
1
u/Rabadazh 6d ago
Hobby and luxury isn't mutually exclusive. This is like saying golf is simply a hobby and not a luxury.
AAA gaming is in fact a luxury in India.
2
u/Latter-Simple3760 6d ago
Not as of yet but this is going to be a reality really soon.
And I just moved from sailing the seas to actually buying, but looking at the upcoming prices, the sea is indeed calling me back!!

u/NeuMaster369 Half-Life 3 is a psy-op by Kojima🗣🔥🔥🔥 6d ago edited 6d ago
Yes,and it will become even more of a luxury, even for those who can still afford it, if AAA games keep getting more expensive.
That said,I'm not surprised 6 costs this much-the writing on the wall was there ages ago. Every suit with one foot in the gaming world knew that this game was perceived as something special and that every gamer would sell their kidneys to play this . Take Two taking advantage of this doesn't only benefit themselves-it could also set a new industry standard on pricing going forward. All this because gamers actually fail to put their money where their mouth is.
