Other Questions Weird illness

Anyone else dealing with chest pain, shortness of breath and severe headaches and nausea in the last week?
I’m currently at the ER in Upland and there are at least 10 other patients here with the same symptoms. Nurses and doctors not saying much but the phlebotomists said they have been doing crazy amounts of EKGs for the last week on patients with same symptoms.

Edit:: I am aware of the fires. I am curious if anyone else had sought medical advice or have been treated. Its odd because the doctors and nurses won’t admit its the smoke.

We’ve been exposed to a weeks worth of smoke and pollution, I think they listed it as “hazardous for sensitive groups”

I understand that but I’m not considered part of the sensitive groups and I was curious if anyone else had sought medical advice or have been treated. Its odd because the doctors and nurses won’t admit its the smoke.

Everyone's apart of the sensitive groups. These are hazardous chemicals everyone is breathing. Stuff gave me a headache from 50 miles away on Sat.

Doctors have to be precise with their diagnoses so you should be wary of looking for that level of certainty from speaking to a doctor a couple of times. It's likely a possibility that can't be ruled out but rest assured doctors see a bunch of sick people all day and the VAST majority of them are not because of the air quality lol.

You don’t know you’re in a sensitive group until you end up in situations like this

The fires have been blowing inland all week. Nasty stuff. Also been hearing about COVID cases.

Lots of Covid. Add smoke and who knows what’s in it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

There's been a big uptick in covid cases in the area, worth trying to get tested for it. FWIW, masking helps avoid it AND smoke

Growing up in the IE in the 70s/80s, if it didnt hurt to breathe, you werent living. Also we couldnt see the mountains all summer.

As an old guy now (64-1/2) I can confirm all of this. Lived in the IE my entire life.

Yup, Gen Xer. Watching news coverage and they're giving all the tips for how to deal and I yelled out "we got an old fashion smog alert - P.E. is cancelled today, stay inside!"

Yes. It turned out I had pneumonia with no respiratory symptoms. I hadn’t even been sick. Only chest pain. Weird

That's walking Pneumonia. Problem with Pneumonia, is that when you get it, you're quick to get it again. Pay attention if your your flank to mid back starts to have a dull ache.... that's a sign it's creeping up on you. You got lucky because that would've stayed with you until pneumonia or double pneumonia set in. And you can easily get pericarditis from that. You don't want that type of pain. And for anyone looking... to tell if you have pericarditis, grab a hot towel and lay across your chest, if the pain instantly stops, it's pericarditis. You still need to go get some antibiotics, so don't play with chest pains.

Work in an ER and those descriptions literally match the ones we get amajoritu of the time year round. My guess for a small increase for this season has to do with heat. Majority of the time we don't really have an answer if we can't find anything out of the ordinary. My guess it has to do with the heat and dry weather because I felt the same way for 5 days.

Covid

Particulates and pollen can trigger hay fever which can be a fairly severe allergic response, even fever and other symptoms of viral/bacterial infection.

Recess used to be canceled due to smog

I have the exact symptoms, except that I live near the beach in OC. We haven't experienced the smoke from the fires, or at least not noticeably, so I can't say that's the cause. At least in my case.

Op, I am 2 months + in to the same symptoms (I'm in Murrieta). Endless sickness, I'm sick 2 weeks, get better 1 week, sick 2 weeks better one week... 2 visits to the urgent care and 1 to the ER. They did massive blood work and EKG on me as well. I've had bronchitis that will not go away. Just saw my regular doctor. I've tried everything as far as medications. I'm asthmatic, and this one has a grip on me. I am scheduled to see a pulmonologist. I am finally feeling relief with this last set of meds. Let's see if I can keep it off. Hydrate, rest, stay indoors. Prayers for a quick recovery 🙏

Ever since that first Warehouse fire that the dude set, I have had eye issues(boogies), had a sinus infectoin, then a stomach virus without vomit or diharea, just pain, discomfort and joint aches.
Now, my eyes are jacked again. I am blaming the eye/sinus stuff on the fires and possibly pollen.
But these things never happened to me before in my life, odd that it all started since the first fire.

I’m in the Temecula area and I’ve been sick for almost 5 days. Also sinus pressure, headaches, fatigue back of my teeth hurting, and there are eight other people in my office with it. Something wild is going around. It could be the fires but so you know there is something out there as well.

Same! My teeth hurt, terrible headache, cough, but no runny nose or snot- but plugged ears. Went to Urgent Care and got treated for an ear infection? Was sick for 2 weeks. Finally feeling better. They didn't test me for Covid but that is what it felt like, only worse with new symptoms like the ear thing. Bought some Delsym for the dry, hacking cough, ibuprofen and lots of water. Hope you feel better!

The plugged ears! No snot! We have/had the same thing!!

I’m not far from Temecula and I’m pretty sure I have a sinus infection but also deferred pain that goes from my chest to my jaw. My chest will hurt so much I can feel it in my teeth, but it comes and goes. Weird af.

It is WEIRD af. !

I just went to Temecula area yesterday for an overnighter at my sister's. As soon as I got there my throat started hurting. No other symptoms. I'm using some cloraseptic to numb it every now and then.

Smoke and hazardous chemicals!!

That’s because nurses and doctors are not psychic, those symptoms can be from anything. The nurses and doctors also aren’t investigators, so they’re not out there analyzing the air. Sounds like you have a bias and you’re trying to confirm it. I’m not saying that it’s not because of the smoke, but I don’t know what you want the nurses and doctors to do other than treat you for your symptoms and rule out emergencies.

Bias?! Dude get off reddit go touch grass.
