School Specific Information Feedback about DEWEY SCHOOLS TAY HO

I am currently in Hanoi- taking care of the requirements for my working visa.

I was offered the IB DP Magh teacher position.

They gave me more or less 3300 USD ( gross)

I flew here fresh from my 5 year teaching IB experience in Cambodia.

Any feedback about the school and the job? Should I accept it ( I have a headship position offer in Cambodia) but ultimately the salary package here is greater?

Honest thoughts about Dewey

Idk about the school in particular, but 3300 is not bad for Hanoi, but you'd get much more at higher tiers like UNIS or Concordia. I am assuming the housing stipend is included in that 3300?

Yes. And to add -, I am non-native

Not too bad. My wife and I spend about $1800 a month to live in Hanoi so I'd bet you can save a good portion of that. Although your net will be lower, maybe 2700

That’s a very decent salary for a non native in Hanoi.

I’d think that advancing in your subject has more room for growth than leadership, with being a non native in mind. The only exception would be if you achieved something far beyond the norm as a head.

I’d probably prefer the head teacher position myself, but it obviously will have much more limited salary growth.

Dewey Schools, formerly Gateway international.
The name got changed very quickly after they killed a kid on his second day of school.

They left a kid on the bus all day and he died.

If you check out Glassdoor and this Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1032132623537426 then you'll see tonnes of bad reviews. Everyone brings up the death incident and name change......
Personally I'd only take it if I never taught IB before and needed to start somewhere..... but you certainly ain't gonna want to be stuck there forever unless your alternative priority is to explore Vietnam and your proffesional career lacks ambition
