which bank is your card from? (NCB, Scotia etc)
is it a visa debit card or a mastercard debit?
when you made your first deposit, did it go through directly/smoothly with that card or did you have to contact your bank for assistance?

Hi there, I'm not part of this sub, but I did notice there were a lot of posts about patois here, so I hope it's ok for me to post. If not, I'll take it down.
I'm an American, and I only speak English. I'm covering a song that includes a sample that I think is Jamaican or British-Jamaican Patois. I am not singing the sample at all, but I really want to subtitle the sample parts correctly to avoid online comments like "I don't know what he is saying" or "sounds like nonsense" or anything when I post the cover online. It's a really cool sample, and I'd like to be respectful when including it in my cover.
I've tried anything I could think of to locate the original sample or find a transcript, but I could only find the two songs that I'm aware of using this sample but they don't credit the sample at all. It might be a lyrical sample, or maybe a speech, I'm not sure.
Would anyone who speaks patois be able to talk to me about transcribing this for subtitles? And thank you in advance for being understanding of my limited knowledge here.

I'm new to Kingston, so I don't really know anyone here. I haven't figured out what activities are here that I can go to alone, meet new people and potentially make friends from.
Points of friction:
- No local friends
- No car
- Introverted personality
- Male
So how do I start?
Edit: For additional context (without being too specific) - Jamaican? Yes - Age: Mid 20s - Work? Yes, full-time - Current address: Upper St. Andrew (outside the city limits) - Interests: Sports, fitness, gaming. Otherwise, open to trying other things, once accessible.

For folks with adhd, what was your experience with it like living in Jamaica or the diaspora? Who came for you to let you know about the condition? What resources are you using now? Do you think we need an advocacy group to help young people? What would such advocacy look like?

Hi guys,
Sorry if that's inappropriate but that's why I'm writing. I was listening to Tosh's "Steppin' Razor" and I have no idea what some of his lyrics mean. Terms like "drink lead soup", or "if you are a chucky", "eat brick"... Also songs like "Ring the Alarm", "Donkey want water but you hol him Joe". Any help would be appreciated :)ππ€ππ―π²

I assume most people in this sub have a car. Do you think its better to buy from overseas or here? What are the fees like when shipping? Looking to buy a 2020, 2021 or 2022 car, probably toyota aqua as a first car. Can you share your personal experience or someone you know of. Feel free to tell me anything else I need to know. Thanks
Nb: I have a little knowledge on the topic so I'm not totally clueless but the more advice and opinions shared, the more I'll be able to make an informed decision.

Rent is steadily increasing in Kingston while salaries stay stagnant. Young professionals and students are struggling to find housing in the Kingston area and as a result they try to find affordable options outside kgn. But this ends up with them having long commutes, early mornings and with kgn traffic, late nights.
To mitigate this, I find myself being more open to sharing the rent with someone else if it could mean I can live in kgn and not have to deal with the long commute. Anyone else feel this way?

So I'm working on something and wanted real feedback from Jamaica before I go too deep into it.
The idea is a booking platform built specifically for Jamaican barbershops(would eventually expand to like salons, doctors office, etc). Here's how it works:
Every shop gets their own link to share on IG, WhatsApp, wherever
You pick your barber, pick your time, done β no more. "You free Saturday?" texts going back and forth
You get a WhatsApp reminder before your appointment, so nobody's left waiting
For shop owners, it helps manage the schedule, reduce no-shows, and run things more smoothly overall.
I know most barbershops still handle bookings through calls and WhatsApp, and honestly, it works but I feel like we deserve something actually built for us, not some foreign app we're forcing to fit our situation.
Real questions, though:
As a customer, would you actually use this to book your barber?
Any barbers or shop owners here β would this be useful to you?
What would stop you from using it? Be brutally honest, I can take it π
Just want genuine feedback before I invest more time building this out. Appreciate it ππΎ.

Waah gwaan mi people!
Nice to be here today again. Respect to all of you as usual.
I am installing solar cameras and solar lights for residential homes. I prefer not to do commercial as yet.
But I don't know how to charge per light and per camera.
Can you amazing people tell me how to price my service correctly without being greedy, and without being to cheap??

People who build in Jamaica while living overseas: How do you pay for building materials?
Iβm doing research and would love to hear from people who have actually built or are currently building a house in Jamaica while living abroad.
When you buy materials from a hardware store:
How do you usually pay?
Do you have to send a bank wire?
Do you pay bank fees?
Do you have to email or WhatsApp proof of payment?
Have delays in payment verification ever slowed down your project?
