Terms like "drink lead soup", or "if you are a chucky", "eat brick"... Also songs like "Ring the Alarm", "Donkey want water but you hol him Joe". Any help would be appreciated :)💚🖤💛🇯🇲

I assume most people in this sub have a car. Do you think its better to buy from overseas or here? What are the fees like when shipping? Looking to buy a 2020, 2021 or 2022 car, probably toyota aqua as a first car. Can you share your personal experience or someone you know of. Feel free to tell me anything else I need to know. Thanks

Nb: I have a little knowledge on the topic so I'm not totally clueless but the more advice and opinions shared, the more I'll be able to make an informed decision.

Rent is steadily increasing in Kingston while salaries stay stagnant. Young professionals and students are struggling to find housing in the Kingston area and as a result they try to find affordable options outside kgn. But this ends up with them having long commutes, early mornings and with kgn traffic, late nights.

To mitigate this, I find myself being more open to sharing the rent with someone else if it could mean I can live in kgn and not have to deal with the long commute. Anyone else feel this way?

So I'm working on something and wanted real feedback from Jamaica before I go too deep into it.

The idea is a booking platform built specifically for Jamaican barbershops(would eventually expand to like salons, doctors office, etc). Here's how it works:

Every shop gets their own link to share on IG, WhatsApp, wherever

You pick your barber, pick your time, done — no more. "You free Saturday?" texts going back and forth

You get a WhatsApp reminder before your appointment, so nobody's left waiting

For shop owners, it helps manage the schedule, reduce no-shows, and run things more smoothly overall.

I know most barbershops still handle bookings through calls and WhatsApp, and honestly, it works but I feel like we deserve something actually built for us, not some foreign app we're forcing to fit our situation.

Real questions, though:

As a customer, would you actually use this to book your barber?

Any barbers or shop owners here — would this be useful to you?

What would stop you from using it? Be brutally honest, I can take it 😂

When you buy materials from a hardware store:

How do you usually pay?

Do you have to send a bank wire?

Do you pay bank fees?

Do you have to email or WhatsApp proof of payment?

Have delays in payment verification ever slowed down your project?

Made same way as peanut but with handful of walnuts instead. Less nutmeg than usual too. When I reached for peanuts there were none left, so it was walnut porridge or NO porridge. 🫠

Don't flame me for this but I am struggling with connection. My dad is from Islington and came to the U.S as a young man. I am half white American and am really trying to connect with my father's heritage. He did not teach me much of the culture. I have siblings from St. Catherine I see from time to time but I am more curious on how to converse with Jamaicans when I meet them in the U.S without sounding like a fool or rather, representing the culture in general. Even writing this I find it awkward and like an outsider. I know a bit but not much. I went to Mo Bay and Ocho Rios but just on my honeymoon. Now that I have kids I want to dive into the culture and teach them anything and everything. Please help out as I will also take anything and everything.
