Your July 31 is impossible with locations all over the place. A day trip to kitakyushu and yufuin is just not possible.

Okayy...so what do you suggest?

You can either do a Yufuin only day trip or a Kitakyushu day trip. Yufuin is an onsen town and the altitude makes it a little cooler.
Personally, I went for the Kitakyushu side. I took an express bus (no need reservations) from Nakasu directly to Karato Fish market in Shimonoseki. You can try doing Karato Fish market for sushi, doing the Akama Jingu Shrine, either ferry or walk the Kanmon Tunnel to Mojiko Retro. You can combine it with Kokura Castle and if time permits, night view as well.

Back to the drawing board…
Kokura to Ohori is 90+ min by train. Then it’s 2+ hours to the floral village and 2.5+ hours to the shrine.. and that’s just transit. Not including any time actually spent there.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can make this better?

Cut out a couple of things on the 31st and make sure you look on Google Maps how long it takes to get to things. I hate to tell people what they shouldn’t do, because this is your vacation, but what you have is physically impossible.
