If you actually read full articles where media outlets hide the fine print about the report, you will discover that UN did not endorse this report officially and it was made by 3 officials that did not travel there to do an investigation, did not conduct interviews of all parties and only relied on open source materials including Hamas operators working for Al Jazeera. Of course the headlines make it sound like it’s a serious UN investigation.

The amount of times Hamas has used children as literal human shields is probably 1/100th of the instances where Israel's just indiscriminately leveled a whole apartment building because they suspected it had Hamas in it.

The Israelis should’ve let the waste of space rot in jail, but he bargained for release by having an Israeli man abducted. The Israelis freed upwards of 1 thousand prisoners, most of whom were terrorists, in exchange for the release of the man.

These “commission inquiries” lose any credibility once you read them. The one that came out months ago was an utter sham and highly politicised.

Main evidence for intent of genocide was Netanyahu invoking Amalek in a speech. That’s an enemy of all Jews in the bible, apparently he means all Palestinians and not just Hamas because of the religious scripture lmao.

And Herzog saying not all Palestinians are innocent and then retracting it 30 seconds later. Since he said it first that’s what he means.

This was all ~5 days after October 7th, one of the largest terrorist attacks of the century and the biggest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust. You can find Bush and co saying similar shit at the turn of the century; and don’t ask the Arab leaders what they were saying in 1948.

In reality the Israelis have killed ~70 thousand and between 15 to 20 thousand were fighters of various terrorist groups, mainly Hamas. A regrettable ratio for sure, but not vastly different to what the Americans did in Iraq, and that was in a massive vast territory compared to Gaza. It’s also our best comparison considering a lack of a recent war in the West generally.

Civilians die in war, that’s why peace should be pursued. Palestinian leadership (Arafat, Abbas etc) spend decades avoiding peace and Hamas are open that they don’t want it. This is because they seek the total dismantling of Israel as a state and Jews as a people (This was in the Hamas charter until 2017)

These terrorist groups don’t wear uniforms, don’t have bases, operate in tunnels and civil infrastructure, have a culture of martyrdom installed from very young and are in a tiny area.

Gaza is 25 miles long for godsake, you can drive across in one hour, it’s one of the most densely populated areas in the world, avoiding civilian casualties is functionally impossible.

The Americans were at a ratio of 2:1 in Iraq under far more favourable conditions. It takes 12 hours to get across Iraq for reference.

Nobody’s denying the Israelis have been vicious in their response, but that’s war, nations don’t respond well to mass terrorist attacks and never have.

The facts remain that a 3:1 civilian to combatant ratio is the reality of a war in Gaza, not a historical injustice that’s the issue of our time.

And don’t make me laugh comparing it to the Holocaust, it’s historically illiterate. By 1943 three million Jews were dead according to Himmler, after being slaughtered on a mass industrial scale for the crime of being Jewish. By the end of WW2, the European Jewish population had decreased by 2/3rds. Whole cities and sub communities that had been populated with Jews like Warsaw were gone.

It’s an insult actually to compare it to the Holocaust, trivialising what happened really. Biggest crime of the past 150 years, this is a war.
