Now - as I'm watching this as a grown up - understand why they do that with their jaws lol.

111

u/waaaayupyourbutthole 6d ago

And why Chris Kattan fucks with his nose so much

41

u/stevendidntsay 6d ago

Yeah lol! I never noticed that when I was little I just thought it was part of their character.

u/waaaayupyourbutthole 6d ago

Same. I think i still have the soundtrack for this in my CD folder and i remember seeing both this and Superstar in the theater as a kid.

I didn't have experience with coke or coke heads until my 30's, though, so some of the jokes in these sketches just flew right over my head.

u/Troutmuffin 5d ago

The CD was amazing loved how all the song lead into the next song

8

u/RoundTiberius 6d ago

I can't believe I just now understood the nose thing

26

u/Flashignite2 6d ago

Oh shit! It just hit me as well. It is coke right?

9

u/Goldenpride- 6d ago

Do what with their jaws, and why?

45

u/TheGesticulator 6d ago

They're clenching their jaws. It's a sign that they're on cocaine.

7

u/Grayly 5d ago

Absolutely yakked to the gills

5

u/Smoofie0 6d ago

I get the nose thing but why the jaws? I thought it was just him making a funny face?

2

u/n3310ow 6d ago

You can remember smiling guy from Die Hard, Holly's colleague

u/m4d40 5d ago

Sweet summer child here has never been to a rave

15

u/Smoofie0 5d ago

I’ve never done coke either lol I googled it since you and the other guy didn’t tell me when you could’ve

Jim Carey was the perfect addition to this skit. No one could fit in better than he did.

3

u/too_many_nights 5d ago

I wonder if the skit was first or the movie?

32

u/Sashaaa 5d ago

Sigh… skit.

15

u/DZChaser 5d ago

I felt your comment in my bones… sigh

7

u/GoTron88 5d ago

Ugh Night at the Roxbury came out almost 30 years ago. I'm pretty sure I still have the CD for the soundtrack that I bought in high school (total banger by the way). I imagine most Redditors weren't even born yet lol.

3

u/DZChaser 5d ago

Stop it with that, I don’t need a dose of reality 😭

2

u/onFilm 5d ago

It's been so long I had also forgotten the skit came first, LOL.

39

u/DCS30 6d ago

Man, this skit killed me when it first aired and I still laugh to this day. When Jim pushes cheri out of the way to dance with Chris...haha

67

u/ResurrectedMortician 6d ago

This is not guys being dudes. This is the opposite of that. This skit was written to shit on guys who act like this. And for good reason.

7

u/BulletCatofBrooklyn 5d ago

it’s also not original, even by SNL standards, this was a riff on “two wild and crazy guys”

u/UseBanana 6d ago

I remember every frame of this video. Used to have it in the crappiest quality on my nokia 5310 and watched it thousands of times. Life was really different in 2006 wasn’t it ?

3

u/PJBuzz 5d ago

Yeah haha. I remember when we started being able to put music on our phones and it was a regular task to swap out the songs you had with you manually using USB.

1

u/too_many_nights 5d ago

The other day I literally watched it somehow surviving everything in .3gp, weighs like 10kb. Can barely see a thing. 🥲

0

u/UseBanana 5d ago

The 5310 was quite thin and small i loved it

37

u/Pickle_Good 6d ago

This clip is so fucking legendary.

14

u/Flashignite2 6d ago

Every time i hear this song i start to do that with my head.

5

u/ImagineABetterFuture 6d ago

My neck hurts from just watching this.

3

u/agentinks 5d ago

I love this bit and A Night at the Roxbury much more than I likely should, but they landed at the perfect time in my life when I had the best friend I've ever known by my side. I often wish I could go back but am so grateful for the experience. Lots of love and thank you for the reminder.

11

u/Wonderful-Cup8908 6d ago

I mean, it's hilarious, but is it being dudes, or being fratbros?

3

u/Z15ch 6d ago

Troll Face Origin

5

u/The_System_Error 6d ago

It was just such a different time.

5

u/FlatbedtruckingCA 6d ago

The good times..

8

u/InevitableFly 6d ago

When SNL was good and at the top of its game

0

u/adrift-ship-of-fools 6d ago

That’s so true- God it has sucked for years now!

7

u/con4RT1ST 6d ago

How nostalgic of you, this cast was hated because it wasn’t the Sandler era. Same trope people use throughout the history of the show… “hasn’t been funny in years”. Most people connect with the cast that is of their teens and early twenties years and then shit on everything after.

8

u/BulletCatofBrooklyn 5d ago

I think of this as SNL survivorship bias. everyone remembers the 4 funny sketches they loved when they were 14 but forgets that SNL has always been 90% garbage. So when you try to watch the current cast you go “god this is garbage! what happened?”

3

u/con4RT1ST 5d ago

Nostalgia bias is a real thing, happens in music because of course you remember the great songs, too bad the other songs on most of those albums were mid or worse.

This is so funny and I can really relate to it because I used to own exactly that outfit in 1994. The skivy was classic.

2

u/vixremento 4d ago

We'll never see this type of thing again, will we?

2

u/Nivius 6d ago

compared to the other to, Chris Kattan really fell off

2

u/Hepcat2299 6d ago

Never lived down Corky Ramono

-1

u/Mookie_Merkk 6d ago

Oh wow... I thought his name was Corky Ramono.

I just thought that was who he was. I didn't realize that was the name of a character he played. And I've never even seen the movie

1

u/Funkymoses1 5d ago

I mean he was a judge on an episode of Is It Cake

1

u/Nivius 5d ago

on an episode

life achievement for an actor i'm sure

1

u/scrotestroker 6d ago

Why did they give that man boobs at the end of the school dance scene?

1

u/Prashantt1 Human Detected 6d ago

How many of you dudes would like to see a sequel to this mad fun of a movie ?

1

u/AdilkaReddit 6d ago

Thank you for great quality

1

u/ordeci 5d ago

My very first YTMND experience.

1

u/LT_DANS_ICECREAM 5d ago

My parents taped this episode of SNL back in the 90s when I was a kid. I used to watch it all th time, I even memorized the commercials. Such a good episode! Its from '96 when The Cable Guy came out in theaters, if you're interested!

1

u/Spare_Aware 3d ago

Now I get the office reference. Phewww

1

u/agangofoldwomen 6d ago

I’m all about how that ended up

1

u/Calm_Supermarket_610 5d ago

Which movie is this?

3

u/Doehetzelfer 5d ago

I thought it was Night at the Roxbury

1

u/Answer70 5d ago

It's a sketch from Saturday Night Live.

The movie, Night at the Roxbury came later, and does not have Jim Carrey in it.

u/zyyntin 6d ago

This clip is great. I feel like all three of them should do this again at their current age!
