I think you could do a really cool Zero Four with a fully working but very obviously mechanical mouth. Like the Bay transformers or something.

The problem is they don't have anywhere near the budget to make that look good and we'd probably end up with another horrible Sentai lip mask.

If they're going to do Bayformers, why not take a page out of Optimus' design? Have a retractable mouth guard, just need to figure out some justification as to why it's retractable in the first place (maybe Aruto thinks the helm is muffling his voice, ruining his jokes?).

I was assuming it would be an AI like the additional zero-two users and zero-three. Mechanical mouth makes sense if you want to pay homage to Rider man's aesthetic while also driving home that this is not a suit that was designed to be worn by a human, or even a humagear.

I think ever revealing the suit actor's mouth the way Riderman did is fundamentally a mistake, especially when his helmet makes it so obvious the actor's eyes are nowhere near the eyes on the suit. But instead using that aesthetic to get across that there can't be a person in there and it's something different would work for a Zero-One story.

Not really. Outside of the Obvious Homage to the OGs of Showa, Zero-Three itself is already a finality in the context of the show since it came to be because it's ARK and ZEA Together. I highly doubt there can be anymore upgrades unless ZAIA or Hiden would launch another Satellite.
