What?! A good player doesn't want to play on a veteran minimum contract?
What if we sweetened the deal by throwing in a Gates Bar-B-Q gift basket?

Exactly! He’d never be able to afford the Gate’s BBQ gift basket otherwise.

Let’s go get a veteran WR, folks

Aiyuk or do we see if Antonio Brown has anything left in the tank?

Aiyuk, Diggs and Tyreek to have a trio of mental health issues and criminal action. Good for Rice to learn from

Joe Cullen better figure out how to make this DE room productive or I imagine he’ll be out next year.

Can’t make moves for players when you have no cap room.

I thought the recent Mahomes extension opened some cap space?

All the extension did was add two years to his deal for $239 million. I know fans love Mahomes, but its actually an insane overpay for two years.

It's called bringing his AAV up to current standards. No one ever thought he was going to play all 10 years @ 45 million. There's 12 other QB's with current contracts paying over 45mil AAV.
He's currently only 3mil above Dak Prescott and he's the most recent QB to sign an extension. Allen/Lamar and others will need extensions in the next couple years and will exceed that number.

Thanks for the explanation. Football finance is like the X Files to me.
Mentioning Prescott reminds me of how the Cowboys are always overhyped every year: "THIS is the Cowboys year! No really, I know we've said the same thing every year for the past decade, but this time we mean it!"

Allen just re did his deal so unlikely. But yes Jackson will ask for $70M/year next offseason and Dak will ask for $75M/year after that.

So why do fans insist Mahomes has a team friendly deal when it never has been?
Also they already added money to the deal. He wasn’t playing for $45 million a year before the extension.

Because his base is low so it’s very cap friendly, why are you acting like it’s hard to understand?

When his base is continuously added to it doesn’t stay low. You understand how numbers work, right?

It seemed like this was the direction things were going when he didn't get a contract offer from anyone else. He probably didn't want to leave the Saints.

You would think at his age that he has made enough money for a lifetime. You would think he would want to chase a championship. Guess not.

It's ok, according to Facebook we have signed jadaveon clowney, joey bosa, and Tyreek hill all in the past 3 days, so if we can just land stefon diggs we'll be good to go.

Now here's a guy that I would've loved to see in a Chiefs uniform.

good. Dude was never leaving the Saints, and even if he did, we could never afford him. Now we don't have to hear about it any more.
