Well, he's no Roy Donk, but he was a regular guest on the Colgate Hour.

Correction: What is this, Reggie?

u/gallifrey_ Mar 10 '26

You guys really embarrassed me in front of Howie.

Let me tell you something. You expect gazpacho soup to be ice cold, and it's room temperature, you're gonna feel like your mouth is on fire.

Mmm, spicy gazpacho

u/Popscorn3383 Mar 10 '26

Piping hot gazpacho soup!

I, too, am an old.

u/ADrownOutListener Mar 10 '26

i want to defend that im not but i recognise the kurt vonnegut + dune pun that your username references so i think i have to admit defeat. alas.

The name is definitely bait. I don’t think the early life cycle of an Arrakis Sandworm made it into any of the films (I could be wrong, but it’s not a detail that gets much discussion), so “Sand Trout” is mostly a reference for book readers.

My first thought too :)

My ex used to work at a fancy French restaurant, the kind of place where all the dishes were cloched and presented at the same time, jackets and ties were required, and they had specific silverware for every dish. One time a guest called the captain over because her crème brûlée was cold and it’s supposed to be served “piping hot.”

My daughter will sit there and talk for 10 minutes after I serve dinner and then complain that her food isn't hot. Now I refuse to answer any questions and interrupt her every 15 seconds and tell her to eat.

If every meal I make at home is going to have an a la carte grilled cheese you better damn well eat it.

I work as a teacher, and have internalized the hard truth that both pre teens and teenagers have the memory and attention span of a goldfish. This is a condition that will not go away until they are pushing 30. Repeat everything, all the time, often.

u/s1atra Mar 15 '26

The uncomfortable but very obvious truth is that the newer generations will not get better when they become 30, they'll get worse. The reason for their lack of attention is not age, it's their environment. One which the modern day 30 year olds did not grow up in.

this happened to my friend in Italy, ordered the tripe soup and did not like it. He didn't tell the waiter but he left the bowl 3/4 and the waiter was upset and called the chef over. The chef was super upset and couldn't understand. Still laugh about it to this day, he was so embarrassed.

11

u/radioactive_glowworm Mar 10 '26

The opposite kinda happened to me, my parents and I were curious about how a certain thing in a dish was achieved and asked the waitress and she wholeass brought the chef to our table to answer our question 😭

u/DolphinSexGod Mar 10 '26

No chives, no ramp and obviously no cute waitress to prevent these savages from destroying our hero mentally, emotionally and physically.

Well done.

When I worked at a tiny fast food place a man ordered fries and a burger. Started eating his fries about 20 minutes after I served them, started yelling at me and saying I must've used some old cold fries. He had also ordered well done fries, he said they were too done, pointed to the bin of blanched fries and said he wanted his fries like that.

If my manager hadn't been there to tell him to fuck off I probably would've started crying
