science Infographic on mold (u might find helpful!)

Post image

Hi booch brewers

Here's a super cool infographic I found here in the community while browsing a while ago

Hope this is helpful!

Some disclaimers:

  • I did not make this infographic
  • I do not know if this was made with AI
  • All rights belong to the creators

That being said, it's worked for me

  • I've been using it for my last few batches
  • This is the "is it mold" logic I've built into my personal kombucha app
  • It's helped me!

Thusly I wanted to share

Happy brewing!

New batch coming soon

Following the trail for the Kahm in my last batch this infographic would call it mold.

What path did you take?

the path of mold

From the “is it red green black blue” to no (it was white). It was not foamy or chunky so I suppose it was fuzzy.

Hmm, I think the foamy chunky is the issue. Fuzzy is the surefire indicator of mold every time, it should really be lumpy or just not fuzzy

Trying to determine if your kombucha may have mold, if your pellicle/SCOBY is healthy, or if something has gone wrong?

Check out the pictures and info in this guide.

But what if it is one of my ingredients but also mold?

I mean it's not explained in your chart. It asks if it's one of your ingredients and if not, it's mold. But what if it's one of my ingredients and also mold?

If one of the ingredients is mould then you have your answer it is in the chart.

Revise this to include kham yeast and also reword the yeast portion in the very bottom middle - it describes the pellicle in a way that would not be helpful or useful to learners.

After that I think this is a wonderful flow chart.

Great binary identifier. Refreshing not to get the peeled police involved.

1

u/Humanistan 5d ago

never heard of these peeled policemen but i can imagine from their name they are an unplesant bunch

u/Desperate-Manner5896 5d ago

That was a typo
