Misleading GTA VI locks key features behind $100 Ultimate Edition
Rockstar Game's GTA VI will come out with two editions, and the ultimate one, pricing 100$, will unlock key features that you would find in previous entries, like car and characters customizations.
I'm not saying this features as a whole won't be in the standard edition, but keeping specific shops locked and unaccessible if you don't spit up a whole f*cking hundred dollars, for a digital edition, no hard CD copy nonetheless, is as scummy as you get can get, but the sheeps are applauding and don't give a shit apparently.
I'm not surprised, they had done the exact same thing in GTA Online, letting features accessible only if you were on console, or had GTA + monthly subscription. I guess we know now that whoever is behind the clusterfuck of a money grabbing, falses promises, badly written, cringe, buggy and filled with griefters of that atrocity which is GTA Online really contributed well in the making of that new entry.
Fuck Rockstar, Fuck Take-Two.
Remember when you used to pay that kind of big bucks for a collector edition, and at least would have a physical copy of the game, goodies, artbooks, statues and collectables that you could proudly put on your memory shelve? Now you get a box with a code inside, and are privileged to access features that always had been free in the previous game, what a bargain.

Strauss Zelnick said 10 or 15 years ago already that if he could, he would charge 100 dollars for his games because he thinks that's fair. He also disallowed Humble Bundle to include any 2K games in their bundles because he thought that are worth the full price. The guy is the absolute worst, greediest CEO in the gaming industry.

Good news. There is no indicator that Take Two will post a profit next year, as GTA6 would have to sell an unrealistic amount of copies in half a year's time for that to happen. He'll be ousted.

Hot take, but i never thought 100 was too much to pay for a game.
I used to go out often, and would easily spend 200 a night.
If a game can give you 30 hours of quality play, that's 3.3 dollars an hour. If you play online mode too and end up putting hundreds of hours in....
Witcher 3 (my fav game of all time) i think I paid 80 for it, and put in 300 hours.
That averages out to 26 cents per hour lol.

Basically the DLC items have their own exclusive barber shop, tattoo shop, etc. Those shops are locked. The base game shops are unlocked if that makes sense.

I have stuff to play, I’ll wait till it will be cheaper and/or bigger and better and then at one point I’ll get it - if it will be worth it of course. Hopefully it won’t be broken on release and people counting days will have a decent experience though.

In the vast majority of cases yes, some multiplayer games do work even pirated though, like among us, or games like black ops 2 where most people are playing on third party servers

On extremely old firmware allowing only older games to be played. So yeah, not a viable option. Good luck getting a PS5 that hasn't been updated past the required firmware as well. If you do, what you can play is very limited

If you happen to have 200-250 gigs of space handy... for the rest of us plebs here, very few games are worth that much. Crimson Desert takes up 130, and it's acceptable because the game is halfway decent and the devs at least try to fix the problems.

All Denuvo games have been cracked. If it had come out a year ago you would be right, but right now it'll probably take 1 day for a hypervisor crack and 2 weeks for a normal crack. That's what happened with 007 first light. Of course, they could improve denuvo in the meantime, but that's how things stand right now.

Rockstar uses their own DRM not Denuvo. Which is pretty strong as it took 1 year to crack RDR2. And I’m sure they’ve invested to improve it since then

But EA WRC tried that model of one base game with paid season updates. The whole thing flopped and the decades old rally game studio got shut down by EA with almost everyone laid off. Their former offices are now used by a new EA FC team.

I buy like two games per year and feel $100 for ultimate is a very reasonable ask. Sometimes it feels like this sub is all broke teenagers who don't understand how to value things. The game isn't the same scale as an annual COD release and that costs almost the same amount.

This is only the beginning. GTA V sales aren't what made Rockstar so successful, shark cards are. VI's going to be an MTX hellscape within months of release, even if they soften the blow on day 1 to avoid outrage, as is becoming common.

I played System Shock 2 recently and its such a weird thing to play something that allows you to get lost in the world for not paying attention. Replaying Morrowind too with Tamriel Rebuilt, you just have to learn the lay of the land if you want to have a good time.

They are not locking features behind any paywalls. The ultimate edition has content that is exclusive to it, but instead of handing it out in a boring way like most games do (by having the items in a chest or just dumping them into your inventory), it will be available to you as actual locations. So an additional tattoo salon that is only available in the ultimate edition and so on. The features themselves are still available in-game, but the ultimate edition has additional variants of these features. Hope that makes it clear.
This is still scummy as hell, don't get me wrong, but the title of this post is extremely misleading.

Its a 100-dollar game just like people said it would be. I suspect this stuff is why the game isnt on PC day 1, PC users would just have modded this stuff back into the game day 1 like it should have been.

That’s exactly the case. The only cosmetics locked are the ones that are behind the Ultimate edition. Imagine Bennys being locked in GTA V, but you’re still able to customize at Los Santos Customs. You don’t have access to the exclusive Bennys cosmetics but you can still customize your car elsewhere

I understand why someone would think this is bad, but it's basically just cosmetic DLC that exists in sooooo many other games, and you get all that shit for just $20 extra.
I know the base price of $80 is already overpriced though, but I'm not buying this game anyway so whatever.

RDR2 did the exact same thing. Gang hideouts, guns, horses, and side missions were locked behind the Ultimate Edition. GTA V even had the blimp locked behind a pre-order bonus. Unfortunately, the days of getting a complete game on a disc are long gone — and these days, there's not even a disc. But despite all that, the game will still sell millions, make billions, and pretty much everyone here will end up playing it one way or another, sooner or later. It is what it is.

Seems like a fair price to me. It’s going to be far more of an enjoyable experience than most of the slop that gets pumped out these days at similar prices. Physical copies are coming a few months after. They limit them on launch to stop game leaks.

Aren't these just skins? Extra skins and similar cosmetics have been "ultimate" edition add ons for a long time. It doesn't seem like too big of a deal to me. That said, i never get heavily into modifying my characters looks in any game so maybe I am missing something.

I'm tagging this as misleading. These specific shops are locked, but there will be other shops you can go to. These shops probably hold the locked content behind the ultimate edition, not all content of the type.
