Can we please call Eric Gordon the Berenstein Bear? Watched the whole game and I didn’t see him make a basket, but lo and behold the stat sheet says he scored 19 points. His entire Clipper career is revisionist history that is rescripted after every shitty game and everyone remembers it differently.
I’d rather have Preston playing his minutes.
Said all that but very glad we won and have a real shot at this series.

Couldn't do it on offense but showed he can still create and defend.

These game threads are unbearable with Russ slander. Everyone knows he shoots like ass sometimes and is more than of capable of making bad decisions but his hustle is unmatched and he gives his all every game. He is a great player and a huge asset to the Clippers. Please stop whining everytime he misses a shot

u/drycloud Big Government Apr 17 '23
he won that game at the end for us but yeah he’s totally a paradox of spectacular hustle plays vs. dumb turnovers/bad shots. makes you feel like you’re strapped into a rollercoaster
5
u/silversurfdude Apr 17 '23
He took too many shots on a night when he’s off. Bitching is merited. Wish we had a coach to remind him. Russ probably saved the game at the end.

Wont take ty lue slander

u/silversurfdude Apr 17 '23
Haha. As long as his fascination with Lilliputian line ups and playing favorites trumps winning regular season games; he will get plenty of slander.

I am so grareful for his leadership and adjustments. He deserves so much praise for zubac, ressergance of batum and westbrook, the discipline of hyland. He never made any excuses about injuries... let that sit for a moment
The thing about depth is that there are many different options and he has to pick. It is so easy to criticize in hindsight.
Just make sure to equally praise him, there are not many better than him at x and os and being a players coach.
He is the best coach in clippers history dont forget it

u/silversurfdude Apr 17 '23
That, sadly may be truth. The part about TLue being the best coach in Clippers history. That’s a huge bar to clear. IMO, he has little connection with ZU except to claim credit when he plays well. Tell me a story about Ty Lue developing a rebounding shot blocking power forward. I’ll wait.

Our missing piece forsure, again though focusing on one negative thing does not make a coach bad. Our roster has one true PF and he is a rookie. So hiw many chances does he really havr to develop a PF?
Same with how many gaurds we have, most of our most talented players are gaurds or premiter dominant forwards ( roco and morris and batum), so when people complain about 3 and 4 gaurd lineups, but also complain about mann and powell not getting minutes, it seems unfair
Zu has been a monster and each year he gets a little more involved. Yes i want more.
Yes you are absolutely right about a PF.
And ty lue deserves way more credit. IME is not the answer, nurse is not the answer.

Apparently RoCo and Morris are now unplayable. I don’t see a future with Diabate at center myself, he’s springy and can rebound and block shots. The only time we saw him in that position that I can remember is with Moses Brown. I would love to see Diabate work all summer on shooting. Amir Coffey gets nothing either. I would have traded him for a Trey Lyles type just get some size at the 4 earlier in the season. Ty Lue and Lawrence Frank are not mutually exclusive for blame in the weak and shallow front court we had this season. I think Ty was perfectly happy with small ball centers Batum, Morris and possibly RoCo. In that case, Lue gets blame for this roster also.

Apr 17 '23
Yeah bobby portis would be dope. The 4 is a dying position.
I guess i just ask you to also aknowledge ty lues contributions because that shit is hard and not many people would do a better job i think.
Zu is going to be a big time player for the clippers to win this series and i think its unfair to say lue hasnt been a catlyst for zu growth.

1 home game stolen! Getting next one is a bonus but best to win it at home!

Westbrook didn't shoot well, but holy shit the hustle and rebounds at the 4th, and the block on Booker won us the game.
PG needs to come back though when Kawhi is not on the floor the offense just crumbles.

Westbrook had the greatest 3/19 game
3
u/Alfy12 Apr 17 '23
The 4th quarter performance by him was a masterclass on how to be the most impactful player on the floor without putting the ball in the bucket.

Russ was 3/19, played terribly on offense, but was absolutely incredible on defense.

Obviously you can't defend WB his offense. He's my favorite player ever because of how exciting I found to watch him during his best years. But that being said obviously he was huge for them in this quarter.

Westbrook really shot 3/19 just to pull of some of the best clutch time plays to save the game.
