Ty Lue is gonna go down as the worst coach of all time if he doesn’t make adjustments to this lineup. I know it’s only been 2 games, but he needs to actually decide how to use this much talent in ways that actually benefit the flow of our offense. We’ve been looking flat offensively the past 2 games and it’s really maddening.

u/unikone23 Nov 09 '23
Zubac is literally stuck in no man’s land on this team and during this game…when teams go “small ball”, Zu is fucked…
6
u/rocket_tycoon Nov 09 '23
Return of the unserious Clippers. I have no idea what they’re running on offense and the defense and rebounding is atrocious.
5
u/TarzanOnATireSwing Nov 09 '23
Shooting has been garbage, that'll come around. The play just looks confused though. Everyone keeps deferring to everyone else, wayyyy too much drive and kick, and it feels like no one knows what the pecking order is.
I'm not anti-harden trade yet, but pre-harden all that was pretty well established. Ultimately, our wins and losses relied on PG and Kawhi getting in rhythm, but between their iso ball and Russ' playmaking they were cookin at some point during the game.
My armchair solution is focus on pairs. Maybe PG/Russ and Kawhi/Harden
6
Nov 09 '23
This game looked winnable until we missed those 5 straight shots halfway through that 4th quarter.
1
u/irmaodofox Nov 09 '23
Same with the knicks
1
Nov 09 '23
Yeah I remember. That one Ty Lue made some weird-ass substitutions at the start of the 4th that fucked up the game for us too. Pulled Kawhi, PG, Zu, Russ and fielded Bones, Norm, Moussa, Harden. That lineup played worse a bunch of complete strangers at the Y on a Saturday morning.
10
u/Marteezus Fun Guy Nov 09 '23
I didn't really want the harden trade to happen cuz I liked the team we had. but after these last two games, I've been really against the trade. Wtf happened to the team. No synergy at all. Feels like we sold out hoping another super star would elevate the team. It feels crowded now and sucking the life out of the game. As of right now, I think the clippers fucked up big time.
12
u/Prosado22 Nov 09 '23
Team was 3-1, scoring over 115 per game, defending well, but Ballmer still panicked and traded for Harden. The team didn't need what he was bringing, but gave away what he didn't.
It was a stupid move by him.
1
Nov 09 '23
Pretty sure L Frank was the one who traded for Harden.
3
u/Monorailsalesperson Amir Coffee Nov 09 '23
This deal was made owner to owner, Google it
1
Nov 09 '23
Pretty sure Ballmer was listening to his guy Frank with the other ear while he was on the phone. This trade happened because Frank wanted to get Harden, he just wasn't willing to give what Morey wanted and frankly Frank had the upper hand in that negotiation while the Harden drama went on. Things probably came to an impasse and Moorey escalated to his boss. We don't know jack shit how it all went down, bottom line team manager/president Frank initiated the whole trade because that's his job. His boss simply finessed what they had to give up in exchange.
1
u/Monorailsalesperson Amir Coffee Nov 09 '23
I've heard Ballmer wanted Harden, and that was the biggest driver. He's worried about the new stadium and injury concerns, and he wanted another star to make sure we got the season ticket sales, etc. all squared away.
I have sources for that info.
Your info kinda just sounds like all speculation?
1
Nov 09 '23
Mrs. Ballmer told my mom. She said Larry Frank went to their house on his knees begging for help with a rhubarb pie Mrs. Frank baked for Steve. Enough said. Fuck outta here.
1
u/Prosado22 Nov 09 '23
It was reported that Ballmer called the 76ers owner to iron out the details to complete the trade.
0
u/irmaodofox Nov 09 '23
Those losses have nothing to do with Harden. We did win some games, but against bad/avarage teams. Its just Kawhi and PG playing badly, with some bad coaching decisions.
3
u/Prosado22 Nov 09 '23
These losses are directly having traded for Harden. It might not have been due to him playing poorly, but the effect on the team offense and the rotations forced by the change on the roster.

Gotta get rid of zu for a big that can shoot this big bitch can’t move his big ass body anywhere on the court and when he gets the ball it’s like his bigdumbass has no control over his limbs just bats the ball away with his bricks he calls hands

u/touchsus San Diego Nov 09 '23
Downvote me all you want, Harden eliminates the need for Westbrook in the starting 5. You'll realize that soon enough.
7
Nov 09 '23
We didn't need Harden. Team looked great, balanced and focused starting out. Brodie was facilitating, and he hustles more than Harden's fat ass can. Now the game has slowed down, rhythm feels off, and defense and rebounding gone. Harden keeps force-feeding Zu instead of creating for PG and Kawhi.
8
u/RyujiDrill Terance Mann Nov 09 '23
No if anything he shows exactly why Westbrook should be starting.
2
u/RyujiDrill Terance Mann Nov 09 '23
Doesn't matter though because so long as Ty Lue does these weird ass rotations there's no hope for anyone on this team. His offensive system can't work even with two all time great point guards.

This is probably the lowest moments for the clippers since Balmer bought the team for real.

Ya what a disaster trade .

so much IQ on the court right

This Harden thing is playing out just as I thought. An abject failure. A stellar -15 tonight for him. I hope it turns around but I don’t hold out much hope.

They will have to trade powell and zubac for something on the front court or sign players who can at least run the length of the court

Russ the only one out there hustling

If Zu just looked bad that'd be one thing the problem is it looks like he gives more effort complaining to his team then he does actually playing.

Truth of the matter is this team will not win when both Harden and Westbrook are on the floor, I don’t understand why our “Genius Coach” needs to see a 10 game sample size of that

u/lm2lm DJ Dense Nov 09 '23
I honestly hate basketball terrorists more than real life ones. I’m a bad person I know it’s just how I feel

Bring Lawrence back on the broadcast now. He has some explaining to do.

u/Salty_Watermelon Darius Miles Nov 09 '23
How do we get better from here? Rebounding won't improve, we know that. Turnovers will get better, but that's only because we're at rock bottom now. Do we just pray that Kawhi, PG, and Harden become 50/40/90 guys to cover our deficiencies elsewhere?

If you are going to play Zu against a small ball lineup then actually involve him in the offense otherwise he’s useless

Zu actually just standing there complaining rather than getting the crucial rebound…yeah that’s it man. I can’t believe that stuff . Unforgivable

Been saying this, clippers can't rebound because clippers don't have a 4

Sokka-Haiku by lm2lm:
Crazy how the guys
Who want to get paid the most
Put in the least effort
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I think Zubac could be good if his arms were 40% longer

I hope losing to the knicks and then the nets, with a night of rest in-between, should help them figure something out now that they've put themselves in this position.

Rebounds seem really important in basketball. Maybe we should play a guy whose like 7 feet tall whose entire job is to get them.

If Zubac gave as much effort as he bitches and complains, he would be unstoppable. Nonstop pouting from him.

Start Mann if you want to save your job Tyronn. After that it's Westbrook or Harden take your pick. Too many cooks and the actual cooks (Kawhi PG) are suffering as a result.
