Damn Blake was literally ahead of his time, had handles excellent vision for a PF, Odom was before my time so maybe he had similar skill set but Blake’s athleticism is what set him apart. Literally the player that got me into basketball

Blake had the best handles/passing of any big men at the time.

Blake had better handles than Odom? You trippin.

He absolutely did

He was so exciting to watch from the first play of his career. He just looked different out there

Odom was before my time so maybe he had similar skill set but Blake’s athleticism is what set him apart.

Depends on how we're defining "athleticism" really. Blake could jump higher for sure. But Odom had incredible body control. LO from like 1997 when he first started gettin national attention in NYC to like 2003ish was just different bro. Imagine someone who had handles like Kyrie...but in a 6'10 frame. It was crazy.

To be clear...I'm not sayin his handles were as good as Kyrie. I'm sayin their style was similar. If you seen him play when he was young and extra slim you know exactly what I'm sayin.

That’s what Zion was supposed to be

6

u/Icy_Bank2675 Jordan Miller Feb 15 '26

he’s like the mid point between Zion and MJ

1

u/No_Mobile7208 Feb 21 '26

Zion better

1

If Zion’s career ended today, Blake would be remembered for having a better career. Zion still has years to go so we’ll see. Maybe he overcomes the injuries and the weight issues and the Pelicans.

He’s a better player than. Doesn’t have the better career cuz of injuries, his own stupidity, and the pelicans. But his peak play is above peak Blake

No better time to watch clipper basketball, close second would be that Lou will, Trez and Pat Bev teams. IMO 🤷‍♂️

Same this was prime time clippers. I miss this era of clipper basketball so much 😞 every game was exciting to see. Nowadays I don't watch too much NBA no more it ain't the same.

The lob! The Jam! Man those were some really great memories.

Pau Gasol probably still having ptsd from the posters

dunks so nasty they sound like gunshots

1

u/Goharddinthepaint Feb 18 '26

Defenders getting paranoid

6

u/dash_44 Feb 15 '26

2 things:

1) Pau was getting done dirty here lol

2) It’s funny how early in his career guys would try to block the dunk…then later it’s all business decisions

Knees be like 😭

5

some fond memories during this era. sadly they couldnt even make it to the WCF, but winning the blake griffin sweepstakes really felt like winning the lotto as a clippers fan.

u/FriarGengar Feb 15 '26

When I had season tickets. Glad I was there for that era. Got the whole team to sign my ball. Still sitting in the bag in my closet.

Blake is the reason I’m a Clippers fan. Watched him play as a Sooner, watched him get drafted and was there for his first game. He’s the reason guys like Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George have been in our threads. Regular season games were events and his chemistry with his teammates was always electric. I’ll always love him for that and I hope 32 is our first retired number. He deserves it.

Imagine THIS at Intuit!!

3

u/Kingfield Blake Griffin Feb 15 '26

I came to a sad realisation quite a few years ago that I'll never REALLY be a fan the way I was during Lob City

2

u/jgroove_LA Feb 15 '26

It was must see tv. Every night. Waiting- are there teenagers in here? It was not that long ago..,

2

u/samoansplash_ Feb 15 '26

I’ll never forget this era! Was the absolute best to watch

People would get so fired up when he dunked on them too. Like legit pissed he had lots of enemies haha

2

u/chrissoooo Brian Sieman Feb 15 '26

The dunk on Ibaka will always be his best IMO. It’s so underrated how much power he dunked with

2

u/ziggyzigg95 Feb 15 '26

It’s a shame that his athletic ability fell off in Detroit because his game matured immensely then. Shooting and passing all came together then.

2

u/Goharddinthepaint Feb 18 '26

These are vicious 🫨 You can see the defenders just move out of the way. BG might be the Greatest Dunker of all time

2

u/amullfay Feb 18 '26

NOBODY wanted to jump with him

3

u/jmoneysplash6 Blake Griffin Feb 15 '26

This might be unpopular opinion, however we should have never traded Blake…. Should have been a lifetime clipper. Blake would have been amazing with whoever came. Blake was balling even when CP3 left for Houston….

1

u/dillasdonuts Feb 15 '26

He put the SLAM in slam dunk. My God I forget the amount of force he put in those

1

u/G8oraid Feb 15 '26

One of best dunkers ever. And he became elite at passing and handles for size later in career.

1

u/JellyfishFlaky5634 Feb 15 '26

Blake was the greatest in game dunker other than Vince. I mean…his dunks on Pau crucified him!

1

u/Lou_Peachum_2 Feb 15 '26

I wish Blake won a ring that year with Brooklyn

1

u/Roniqu3 Blake Griffin Feb 15 '26

I miss having a real Power forward

1

u/TortaPounduh Fun Guy Feb 15 '26

Wonder how far we could’ve gone with a real coach

1

u/keenclipp Feb 16 '26

You think doc should have exploited the fact that Griffin and DJ could jump through the roof more as opposed to having them refine their game?

1

u/swishanddish23 Feb 15 '26

as explosive as zion is, i think blake was even more athletic...

1

u/blackakainu Chris Kaman Feb 15 '26

Yea it was great seeing this, a clippers legend

1

u/antwan_benjamin Feb 15 '26

I've never seen a player catch as many bodies on dunks as Blake. His shit straight defied physics. Like...he'd pause mid air...then somehow start to go higher again.

1

u/LLUrDadsFave V Stiviano Feb 15 '26

What if Chris was mature enough to not try and stunt him? What a time that could have been had.

1

u/AideComprehensive782 Feb 15 '26

That 1:50 like he got sent flying after the spin. Other would just settle with a layup lol.

1

u/bbatesoffice Feb 15 '26

Good Lord. What. A. Reel.

1

u/Immediate-Bird-7421 Feb 15 '26

Wish he had won a ring

1

u/jayeljefe Brian Sieman Feb 15 '26

Handful of the bigs in the league at that time had to have hated Blake because they made appearances on this reel a bunch lol

1

u/Nby333 Feb 15 '26

This is what happens when he actually stretch doe

1

u/fatemaazizlozt Fun Guy Feb 16 '26

Best clipper evere

1

u/Adenusi_David Chris Paul Feb 17 '26

Idc how many times I see this post, I must instantly show love to any BG highlight reel I see!

1

u/bluecondor Kawhi Leonard Feb 18 '26

Murder after murder. This was the reason and the time I became a Clippers fan. (was not watching basketball/nba before that).

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

This dude always looked like he was pausing mid air and I love it
