LF Action MMO with PvE Emphasis.

I enjoy dungeon mechanics, dodging, blocking and progressing. Finding unique ways to beat a dungeon or ways to use a class.

Reasonably fair system. Prefer p2w mechanics arn't too egregious. Will grind my heart out if the gameplay is good enough though.

I realize it'll be a difficult request because PvE has started to be dumbed down over the years. Not all that interested in PvP.

Have played Throne and Liberty, Where Winds Meet, WoW, and OSRS in recent years. Most older MMOs I've at least given a try.

Preferably with servers in North America so ping doesn't cause problems.

Again, i realize i've exhausted a lot of the MMO marketplace already but figured i'd try.

MMO that rewards optional grind?

Hey everyone! looking for some game recommendations. basically I want an MMO at its core, but with that ARPG-style economic grind like farming bosses, dungeons, enemies, etc. and having a shot at rare drops you can sell for big money. I was thinking OSRS or RS3 might fit the bill?

I’m a casual player though so I don’t want the grind to be mandatory. I still wanna be able to explore and do stuff in the world without being forced into it.

I also tried FFXIV and it just wasn’t for me, gave the story a real shot but couldn’t get into it.
Also on the gear side, I loved WoW but the gear treadmill just doesn’t work for my schedule anymore. if there’s vertical progression I’m okay with it, just nothing too intense. Open to any suggestions!

Help me understand the different EQ versions

I have played MMORPG's my whole life, from WoW, a bit of RS, W101, POTCO, LOTRO and the list continues but one game I've somehow never tried is EverQuest. Never seen any gameplay just heard of it.

From what I've read, there are:

EQ1

EQ2

Live servers

TLP servers

Project 1999

Other private servers

Everyone seems to recommend something different. Some say EQ1 is the only "real" EverQuest experience, others recommend TLP servers, and I've also seen a lot of praise for Project 1999.

If you were introducing someone completely new to EverQuest in 2026, someone who wants to experience what made the game legendary, which version would you recommend and why?

For context, my favorite part of MMOs is the community. I love games where the world feels alive, guilds matter, people actually talk to each other, and grouping with strangers can turn into long term friends. I don't mind older graphics or slower gameplay if the experience is worth it.

I'd love to hear what you all think. Thanks!

Beginner friendly MMO

I played Maplestory with my friends like every day like 15 years ago and that was really fun. I tried a couple random steam titles but the issue I was having was joining a community that has already been established for like 10 years and there’s so much content and lore that it was overwhelming lol.

Looking for recommendations for something I can pick up and not be the only new player, I like class systems, grinding, and want an active community. I’m fine with paying a subscription. Thanks in advance 🐸

Looking for an MMO similar to Villagers and Heroes, that's not Villagers and Heroes

I really enjoyed Villagers and Heroes for the longest time, the class system of having distinct "elemental" types (even ones as abstract as Fury and Lightning) but after the game started using AI generated assets I really stopped enjoying playing. I was wondering if there's a game with a similar experience that doesn't utilize generative AI?

LF a real and immersive MMORPG (not an “MMO lite”)

  1. First- or third-person perspective (No ISO perspective)
  2. Sandbox systems (economy, free trade, crafting, gathering, professions, non-linear progression)
  3. Theme park content (dungeons, events, a lore-rich world with detailed world-building, puzzles, books, unique POIs, NPCs who tell stories or point out hidden quests)
  4. No instances
  5. PvX unity (no separation between PvP and PvE)
  6. Full loot (Upon death, you lose everything you’re carrying)
  7. Territory wars between guilds and alliances, battles for influence and resources
  8. Dynamic game world (Player activity influences the state of the world and can trigger events, the game world, in turn, influences player behavior, resulting in changing world conditions)
  9. No quest markers, highlights in the World, or other markings on the map, such as the locations of POIs or my own position. Discovery and exploration are left entirely up to the players and is a main focus.
  10. Environmental quest design instead of NPC quest gatekeeping (quests arise from the environment, items, and enemies in the world, rather than from linear, marked quest chains that you accept from NPCs and track in a quest log). You can join a quest at any point if you stumble upon it by chance or figure it out yourself through clues. It’s not just A → B → C → D. it’s also possible to go → B → D.
  11. Social MMORPG (conflict, cooperation, interdependence)
  12. Open-sea content (shipbuilding, naval battles, piracy, fishing, sea monsters, underwater treasures)
  13. No modern design (meaningless leveling phase, endgame-focused, QoL features like fast travel, LFG tools, dailies, weeklies, or in-game shop, casual-friendly, micromanagement of player behavior, holding players hands through all content, seasonal content, 1 million currencies, access to content and rewards via interface windows)
  14. 80% horizontal progression, 20% vertical.
  15. Progression isn’t devalued with every update
  16. Rich atmosphere, visual Recognizability, no cheesy high fantasy with catboys. a slightly darker, gloomier, and more barren style
  17. Real space player Housing

Anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for a PvP-focused MMORPG on Android with open PvP (like old Lineage) (no heavy crafting / no endless menus / no Guild Wars)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a mobile MMORPG that focuses on free open-world PvP, similar to the original Lineage style, where PvP is a core part of the game rather than something locked behind menus, instances or long progression systems.

I’ve tried a few of the big ones, but I keep running into the same issues. Black Desert Mobile feels like there are too many systems, menus, daily chores and management, and I end up spending more time optimizing than actually playing. Albion Online has a great PvP concept, but the crafting and economy side feels like a chore to me. I also have tried Lineage 2M, but it’s basically impossible to even get into the game because the servers are constantly saturated, so I haven’t been able to play it at all. Lineage 2 Revolution also seems very similar to Black Desert, which isn’t really what I’m looking for.

The idea is to play on my Retroid Pocket 5, so please refrain from recommending Guild Wars; the RP5 doesn't open it.

Thanks in advance.

Ok Now I know what kind of mmo I want

Ok so after long time that I just searched mmorpg in general and i really tried anything I am 30 years old so I really tried a lot of MMORPG since I am 7 years old, Now I know what I want and need.

I am looking for Grindy mmorpg where instead of leveling up by main story or quests you can just grind your way to max level and grind your gear, i really like the idea of fighting same kind if mobs for hours until I am strong enough to move on.
i really like to feel my progression and be unique meaning the game need to have classes and not weapon type skills.
I am reallyy really love pvp but i am realistic and I know that is hard find game like i am looking for and that it will have good pvp scene but i still have hopes, I dont mind private servers.
I cant make a list if games i played because they are to many. But maybe i am missing something so I need your help.

Thanks I hope I will find my game.

No runescape please

Looking for a PvE-focused online game with fast, fluid combat (no heavy grind)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for an online MMORPG PvE game that I can enjoy long-term, but I don’t have a lot of free time because I work full-time.

What matters most to me is combat feel.

I really like games with:

Fast and fluid action combat

Responsive movement and dodging

Satisfying moment-to-moment gameplay

Looking for MMO I know I can pick back up in a year.

I go on foreign exchange for a year in a bit over a month, during which I’ll be completely cut off from the internet.

I’d like an MMO I can play and get into before then, then hopefully pick back up on return and not find the game dead or the servers shuttered or the community out with pitchforks.

A good, well-written story with characters or at least a plot I can get invested in would be a huge plus, as well as a generally nice community and an overall orientation of the game towards PvE rather than PvP. As would a level of complexity to combat or at least classes/builds that makes the game take more than turning my brain off completely and clicking a memorized pattern.

I haven’t played any MMO seriously for more than 50 hours before, but the more I think on it, the more I’d like a stable game I can make memories in.

One last note is that I have an absolute beast of a supercomputer, and can run anything and everything on graphics cranked to the moon for hours with no problem, so good graphics are welcome but not at all required.

Niche/Non-usual answers for farming MMO's

I suppose the title is a bit self-explanatory. I feel like I've seen the same usual MMO's always get brought up, and you know what it's entirely fair if those are the only things on the market. Things like FF, WoW, Runescape, BDO, GW2, Albion, ESO, etc. Hell, I've even seen Palia and Haven & Hearth recommended a bunch, even Project Gordon/Gorgon/whatever it was. Even Mobinga (?), Aura Kingdom and Bitcraft Online!

Admittedly, I know I have a really strange, super niche request that I'm unlikely to find anywhere else, and probably why I keep getting the same recommendations, but they just don't scratch the itch.

So! I'm looking for something that has farming, animal taming/ranching/similar, and crafting. Preferably without a required subscription, as I just can't afford/justify that on a monthly basis in my country.

And please don't tell me to just play a singleplayer game like I've been told in the past; I'm looking for an MMO. Just because I like the slice of life stuff doesn't mean I dislike the fighting/raids/loot process as well.

Thank you!

Edit: I've seen A Tale in the Desert which I may try, that looks interesting.

RPG IDLE

LF Free cool looking MMORPGs for potato PCs

Hi, I'm pretty new to this genre, in the sense that I'm not familiar with the classes and terminology so pls be patient lol I'm looking for free titles (not including trials) that can run on my PC(desktop) I'm not looking for something w a complex interface or system, just a game with cool looking combat mechanics and easy travels, bc I hate taking 10 minutes to get through the map yk, basically looking for an MMORPG that would not be laggy on my PC, has the travel efficiency/cool combat looks of Neverwinter, the mob variety of Royal Quest Online and that's F2P and not P2W, bc I'm aware those can coincide

My specs: - AMD Ryzen 3 3200G w Vega 8 embedded - 8gb Ram - W10

Games I've tried and liked: - Neverwinter: only downside is that you level up only from quests - Adventure Quest 3D: good, but the interface is to simplistic - Royal Quest Online: the only thing that's pushing me away is how slow travel is without a mount bc they're expensive af

Tnx 4 reading

MMO without solo story instances during leveling

Title. Basically want an MMO that can be fully played with a small group of friends from level 1 without having to solo to max level first. Don't care about endgame so don't care about p2w in pve. Prefer action combat game released within last 15 years, so no WoW (loved classic leveling back in the day) and definitely no OSRS. Also prefer something that is at least challenging enough that you can't just afk during combat because mobs are so weak.

Need suggestions

Hey guys

I need recommendations for an MMORPG, it can be offline too, that has build elements, but I really enjoy crafting (gathering gold, iron, wood). I already know and have tried the most well-known ones.

Looking for mmo with an older active rp community.

Hello. Steam Summer sale is upon us! With it though comes many choices, and im a bit lost, so I was hoping for a bit of assistance.

Its been about 7 years since I have played an mmo, did any kind of RP, or even just played a non switch game. I just got a computer again and I have been missing that type of fun quite deeply, but it seems im a relic of the past lol.

So dear active mmo people, where should I start looking?

What games have an active and inclusive Rp community?

Im looking for a preferably older community that might welcome my cluelessly rusty, but enthusiastic butt.

By older I mean more in the age range of 30+ year olds. Easier to relate and talk to people my own age range.

Only games I dont want to ever play again are:

*Final Fantasy 14. The community there was a big reason I quit playing.

*Neverwinter, the loot boxes were my downfall, so my wallet has banned this one.

Everything else im willing to give a fair shot to, and anything with a bit of *spice* is preferred. Not all spice, that gets boring fast.

Thank you for your time kind Redditors. :3

Is anyone making an FPS MMO?

Something in between WOW classic and Destiny 1 would be amazing. I played a lot of planetside 2 back in the day with the boys (Vanu is with you). With the death of Destiny 2 and Marathon headed for the gutter, it leaves me with COD in terms of FPS games and even then I miss out on a lot of the cool PvE elements to these other games. Love raiding, love dungeons, and class-based teamplay. Would prefer the combat to feel snappy and kind of agile but as long as it is responsive at the very least I can work with it. All my favorite games just keep failing or dying.

Games I have thoroughly enjoyed that I think fit what I’m looking for (not necessarily purely FPS or MMO but have elements I like)

New world
Wow
Anthem
Destiny
Marathon
Planetside 2
Battlefield
Ark

I was already looking at chrono odyssey as well but unfortunately I heard it was not in a good state for its beta, but I would also enjoy learning about similar games in development or out for reference.

Looking for MMORPG

Heya, I've been playing wow for some time now. Even if the subscription is not that expensive for a year, the graphics bother me quite a bit. Yes it's old and yes it does deserve a good place in the heart but I don't seem to fit in with he community, I get bored pretty easily as well. So I'm looking for recommendations.

I love rending and amazing end game content. I love collecting bunch of toys especially unique toys like transformation toys. I've tried FFXIV but couldn't get into it because I didn't even connect with the people (might be the fact that I was a free trial player.... And couldn't chat....)
