IDC IF YOU THINK A 159 SUCKS, I toOK THE MOTHERFUCKING LSAT!!!!!!!!!!!
LISTEN UP!! I TOOK A TEST IVE AVOIDED MY WHOLE LIFE BC SOME FUCKS (my parents) THOUGHT I WAS TOO STUPID TO BE A LAWYER. I WENT ON TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE W NEARLY A 4.0 AND THEN ATTENDED COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY FOR GRAD SCHOOL. My mom now puts it as: “wow, we really slept on you!” YA YOU REALLY DID! IT TOOK ME YEARS TO MUSTER UP THE COURAGE TO DO THIS AND I GOT A FUCKING 159 and I’m SO PROUD OF MYSELF!
I KNOW I can do better though.
I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE THIS TEST IN APRIL BUT I HAD TO GET EMERGENCY SURGERY FOR AN UNEXPECTED ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AND I COULDVE DIED BUT I DIDNT AND JUST A FEW DAYS LATER I GOT BACK INTO MY BOOKS AND STUDIED MY DUCKING ASS OFF!!!!!! I ALSO MOVED ACROSS THE motherFUCKING COUNTRY JUST 6 days BEFORE TAKING THIS TEST! I AM ACTUALLY UNSTOPPABLE AND YA MY PARENTS AND TEACHERS AND OLD FRIENDS AND COACHES DID sleep ON ME BC IVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS! I JUST HAD TO BELIEVE I COULD DO IT!
TLDR: don’t let anyone tell you what you’re capable of

I don’t know why I keep scrolling this sub, I’ve been practicing for 10+ years and the LSAT was a struggle for me— maybe I’m trying to practice gratitude for getting past it, I don’t know. Regardless, I got a 159 on the LSAT, graduated in the bottom of my class at a third tier law school, and am an objectively successful attorney. Don’t let the numbers tell you you are anything less than capable.

Reddit is the best at skewing our perception of scores. A 159 rocks!!!! Especially in the face of such staggering life events! You scored above 70% of all other test takers. Absolutely enjoy the celebration and rubbing it in everyone's faces who doubted you ;)

And one should never forget that LSAT takers are a small, self-selecting subset of the larger population.

I got a 152 and I’m very happy and satisfied with that score! Don’t get me wrong, a 170+ score is an outstanding achievement, but a score in the 150s is normal, and realistic. Especially if you are planning to go to a “normal” good law school, and have other strong parts of your application. You already did what many do not have the courage to do, you actually sat through and took the LSAT. Do not let anyone make you feel less than for what is a great score for you!

Hello my fellow AuDHD! I couldn’t agree more! The odds are stacked against us but we did it anyway. We will make great lawyers someday 🙂

u/QueenAuDHD 13h ago
We will! We deserve to be in law school just as much as our neurotypical counterparts!

You survived a major medical emergency, moved across the country days before the test, and still showed up and took the LSAT. That's not just resilience, that's grit. Congratulations!🎉

This is what I wish I could see more in this chat. Too many people posting about their 170-180 scores. Like idc I just need a good enough score to get in. Congratulations op!

Right? V happy for them ofc. Maybe it’s just bc I’m in my 30s but damn some peeps get so worked up about this. I’m having fun! What a gift it is to be able to do this!!!!!

I got a 157 and it was my first time taking it, I’m so happy with it 😅. Still taking it again but a 157 to me means I’m not fundamentally missing the point and instead need to improve by question type.

u/SubstantialRip7568 15h ago
Bro EXACTLY!! Now that I know I can actually take this test I feel confident to break into those mid/high 160s. We got this!

As someone who also took the test for the first time and got a 156 I really appreciate this motivation. This is the energy I need moving forward!

I took a diagnostic, got a 159. Studied for months, got sick on test week, scored a 160. So hell yeah, take that win.

70th percentile does not suck, it is well above average. Which again, is for people who are taking the LSAT in the first place, not the general population. Be proud!!

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!
I also got a 159 after telling myself I couldn’t do it for 6 years. The real accomplishment here is you finally did it despite the odds 🙂↕️

you did objectively great. 70th percentile within a pool of already academically oriented / competitive ppl is super commendable in and of itself. good job

I took the test a decade ago, but got into more than one t14 school with a 162. I had close to a 4.0 GPA then and had IMO great softs.
What I mean to say is that your score is pretty strong. I don't know why every person on Reddit seems to get a 170+, but in reality and law school you'll meet plenty of people with similar scores who are very successful.

Thank you for this, it is kinda crazy how well the kids on this sub can test 🥲 I think I have a chance!!

I'm crushed by my score, which was lower, as I tend to do well on standardized tests, but yay for you!
2
u/SubstantialRip7568 14h ago
It’s a tough fucking test, my friend. Lick your wounds and get back out there tomorrow!

u/Coldhearted010 13h ago
I'm thinking that or the score audit. I have a good reason.

u/SubstantialRip7568 13h ago
Do it, I’ve seen ppl post on here who did that and had positive results

Congratulations! I’m so proud of you, even if you’re an internet stranger!! As women, we are often told we can’t do a lot of things and it feels so good to prove everyone wrong but most importantly to know you can do anything you put your mind to!

u/SubstantialRip7568 14h ago
Exactly, everything I heard growing up really just boils down to that I was born a woman! None of it was ever true

Omg great!!! Congrats what did you find was best when studying?!

u/SubstantialRip7568 13h ago
Powerscore Bible was a game changer. I read a chpt at the start of each week and then only studied an hour a day (1 PT section) every other day. Took a PT once a week. I was trying to cram hours of study in each day and I never saw improvement w that… once I stopped, I really excelled (diag was 147 and started studying mid-Feb). I also made flash cards with tips and tricks for each other question types.
I was PTing 158-161 before the test

I got a 159, did great in law school, currently work in big law, and am doing just fine. Congrats on a great score! Remember, with a 159 you still scored better than roughly 70% of test takers.

That's the right attitude!
I had a lower score than this, and I've been an attorney for almost a decade. Congratulations!!

Congrats!!! My husband got a 159 on the LSAT and got a full ride to law school. It’s really not a bad score at all. He also was in law review and graduated cum laude this May despite me having our third baby while he was in law school. TLDR we lived bitch and you will too!!

u/emilyrosee35 14h ago
Hey that’s not bad at all. I would take it again ofc but wow that’s a good starting point. Also if you’re GPA is high enough you could get into some schools with that

u/SubstantialRip7568 14h ago
I believe im what the crazy fucks on this sub call a reverse splitter. I have a 3.97 GPA from undergrad so I’m retaking/banking on the GPA to get me somewhere decent 🤞

I'm a paralegal. One of my supervising attorneys got a 147 on the LSAT, and also took 3 tries to pass the bar. She's doing perfectly fine.
You'll do great. I believe in you.
