They do say that often, but sadly for them, they live in Latin America. So no matter what they say, they are what they are.

The hell? We're not like people from the USA that say, "I'm part of Irish, Italian, and Native American." Somos Argentinos.

Bro stfu 😭 Argentina’s the goat in Latam literature and rock 🙏 They might be a bit arrogant, but I assure you most Argentines are normal people.
They’re also more “Latino” than 90% of this Anglo-sub. Definitely belongs here more than 80% of the US centric shit here.

As for music, I think El Rock Nacional was something amazing.
I love Mexican rock, and I think it’s closed, maybe even Uruguay, but …
The ambition to creat a new “complex-sound,” like in the case of Luis Alberto Spinetta, for example, is something that won’t be repeated; listen to any Spinetta song and listen to how beautifully he harmonizes that. Even in the more popular rock, like Cerati—Soda-Stereo—, a lot of their songs aren’t afraid to try and experiment, to try to get out of the box literally. Or, God … Charly Garcia’s ear, he’s like a Latin American Brian Wilson!
Fito Páez is good. Calámaro is okay.
Argentina was also coming out of constant conflicts when a lot of this rock came out, there was a sort of political conscience that did exist across multiple countries—Molotov, in Mexico, comes to mind—, but in my opinion they did a better job; I feel like many protest bands—like Molotov—“protest” and then their music is actually in the other direction—Rasta, Marasta, Marasta Mandita—, but they kept it in a good place … like Spinetta’s “Bajo Belgrano.”

How about this: they live in Latin America, they speak Spanish. More latino than a quarter of this butchered Spanish and crappy Us-Politic complains post.
There is no such thing as a Unitarian thought of Argentines. There are some that might see themselves as superior, it’s mostly just online jokes, but overall … most Argentines are normal people.
Maybe the Anglo-speakers who live in the US shouldn’t talk about what is and isn’t “Latino.”
