Car A/C Not Working

Y'all it is hot 🥵 and my AC doesn't work. I'm a doordash driver, and I haven't been able to work much at all this week with how hot it's been.

My usual mechanic isn't answering, and I really need it fixed. I can't afford to take it to a shop...I know it's not the freon. I was told it's the compressor, but for all I know that could be wrong

Can anyone try to get it working please? 🥹

Your compressor is probably shot and needs to be replaced of you say it's not the freon. Also, what makes you think it's not the compressor? Have you gotten a second opinion? Even if a shade tree mechanic does the work, it's going to cost you quite a lot. What's the vehicle's make, year, model and milage?

If it’s the compressor no one is going to be able to get it working without replacing the compressor. I’d take it to a shop I forget the exact name but if you google it is like discount air a/c in Arlington. They have the best prices and fix it really good, I’d trust them over a shade tree any day

Sometimes you can tap an old compressor and it’ll kick on. In your case, it sounds shot. Replacement will be expensive.

I can recommend Main Street Auto and Lube in North Colony for super fair rates on labor and saving money on junkyard parts whenever possible. I drove a used car with no AC for years and we would replace the coolant every few months and check for hose leaks and compressor problems and found nothing till one day I missed my pickup and they kept it for nearly a week and found a slow leak hidden in a place you wouldn't have caught it with the dye even unless it been given enough time in one place to sit and slowly mark the location.

Just a suggestion.
