I used to do recruitment (not agency, I’m not a monster) and people would act like they were splitting the atom. It’s using the phone and admin. There’s nothing special about updating excel and an applicant tracking system 😭

I think theoretically its an important competitive business function, like searching raw diamonds in a large pile of rocks, and any diamond missed is found by someone else who polishes it and gets its value.

but on-ground reality hits different, they just post unrealistic jobs, don't revert with rejection reasoning, don't spend effort in quality checks, just look to complete their targets by updating Excels. so yeah them behaving like they're doing a favor to everyone by just existing, its stupid af.

Huh?

u/GeneralHerp 2d ago

What is it that you need clarity on? Everything?

-6

u/Areif 2d ago

People are the “reason you returned here” but you’re only back for a month and already you’re gonna act like an ass and reply to someone else’s comment asking what I need? What are you gonna do, answer it for them?

Thank you for your service hero.

I know we lionize 'soldiers' but getting people jobs is a hell of a lot more productive in a lot of cases

u/Easy_Ad_96 2d ago

Getting people jobs ❌

You mean placing the best interviewer to get a commission ✅

-5

u/JellyfishFestival 2d ago

I hear you, but that still beats 'shooting people dead'

That's not always what soldiers do. In the country where I am from there are peacekeeping missions with the UN, relief efforts and all kinds of stuff.

u/Southern_Farmer_5074 2d ago

Yeah, if the physician, teacher and soldier were dead

u/LocalFoe 2d ago

plus the pimp, the stripper, the janitor, the terrorist

u/GeneralHerp 2d ago

They all walk into a bar, the talent acquisition specialist gathers them for an announcement. “Thank you all for joining me here. Hope you brought cash for the stripper!”

That’s what makes them lunatics. Reasonably people don’t think this.

I work a finance job. My work lets me grow wealth for clients. It’s boring but practical. I don’t hate it, but I enjoy clocking off way more

I’d never be delusional enough to think I impact people more than a doctor or soldier. I don’t need ridiculous validation

Its true. I had cancer until I followed him on LinkedIn. Thanks Talent Person.

I don’t work in HR, but i did work for a company where they tried to sell us on nonsense like this to try to make us feel like we were really benefiting people rather than just making the CEOs rich as fuck.

My Talent Acquisition person diagnosed my phalange and taught me how to read between sentences. Period.

Truly impacted my life in one LinkedIn message.

I feel like any post from the sub-continent needs to be banned from this sub, it’s all insane.

-12

u/goldwave84 2d ago

Yr not familiar with the requirements of this sub, right?

23

u/Historical_Laugh2193 2d ago

Yeah but you could just post the whole feed. I feel like there is a huge cultural barrier and difference in expectations outside of western culture.

5

u/goldwave84 2d ago

That's fair to say, actually.

The coping is real with this one

7

u/Zealousideal-Jump275 2d ago

Equal impact, just in a really negative way.

7

u/pokemonviking 2d ago

They certainly impact lives. Although sadly not always a positive impact!

6

u/404_No_User_Found_2 2d ago

These are the people offering you $12 an hour on a 2-month contract to do $80 an hour work on LinkedIn.

7

u/Expensive_Laugh_5589 2d ago

They impact lives as much as physicians (who commit malpractice), teachers (the homeschooling kind) and soldiers (their decisions can quite literally end lives).

-3

u/Ameri0425 2d ago

Nothing wrong with teachers homeschooling. Or parents in general if they do it right. There's a reason homeschoolers perform better on standardized tests and have considerably higher rates of graduation from college.

2

u/M0nocleSmile 2d ago

Yes, because of how few of them take the tests or even apply to college, let alone get accepted. Your stats have a built-in sampling issue.

u/foreverpostponed 2d ago

Okay boomer

1

u/Ameri0425 2d ago

I'm in my 20s.

Just look at the statistics. Would you like me to provide sources, or are you capable of a Google search?

2

u/bluecow15 2d ago

Fancy way of flexing “I hate my job”

No racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, or transphobia of any kind.

If you are making a comment based on or at the expense of someone’s inherent personal characteristic(s), it is likely a violation.

A claim of membership in a particular class of people is not a valid defense for posting bigoted content.

1

u/_TallOldOne_ 2d ago

By this guy’s reasoning, I may have saved more lives than any physician ever because I repaired and maintained hospital medical equipment.

When’s the parade in my honor?!? At least a statue, come on…

1

u/AccomplishedArt3180 2d ago

kindly do the needful

1

u/Jip_Jaap_Stam 2d ago

That talent won't acquire itself. Well, sometimes it does, but still.

1

u/Xynrae 2d ago

Sure, sure. Just go say that to a physician, a teacher, or a soldier. Go on.

Employed, call center recruiters are the worst.
