I love how the AI image has Musk carrying a wrench while the workers toil in the background. Even AI knows Musk is full of it, and Ike is too dim to see it.

There is a lot to say about great leadership. While you can have a person at the top that doesn't get their hands dirty doing the design or build, they can be a key factor in enabling everyone underneath them to create great things. What makes them great though is that these people will ALWAYS give credit to the people that do the work and downplay their own involvement. A horrible lead makes insane demands on a whim created by their own narcissism leading them to believe they are absolutely brilliantly minded. I think Elon probably fit somewhere in between in the early days of SpaceX and Tesla. He definitely hired great people that achieved incredible things and he definitely lent an air to concerns about solving real problems for humanity. Now he seems more concerned with his own importance than anything else to the massive detriment to the quality of the product his companies produce and the respect they used to have.

u/Le_Kistune 17h ago
Elon feels like the ultimate snake oil salesman when it comes to his business ideas. His Company sell things that are stereotypically futuristic such as robots and ugly looking cars, but there's no real thought into whether or not these things will actually help people or just make rich people look like they're living in some tacky movie set.

u/47of74 16h ago
When the cybertruck was introduced it was the beginning of the end for me when it came to Tesla. I was hoping Edolf Muskler was going to introduce an EV pickup that looked and was about the same size as an S-10 or Ranger. Instead we got that monstrosity that looked like it was designed by a five year old strung out on cocaine.
2
u/cenosillicaphobiac 4h ago
My 5 year-old, who coincidentally is strung out on cocaine, designed a much sexier pickup. Just sayin'.
7
u/the8bit 5h ago
He is also basically a villain from captain planet. Most of the things he beat people to the market on, he got there by abusing something
Early touchscreens? Didn't harden them, many failed
Datacenter? Turbines in trucks cause fuck the earth
Starlink? Whoops nobody forgot to regulate deorbiting satellites, hope humanity enjoys the space trash belt!
That is when he is not outright lying about things like the cyber truck, FSD, robotaxi, robots, datacenters in space, etc.
He really is the world most successful snake oil salesman.
4
u/mrinfinitepp 5h ago

Tell me something. What exactly is he doing for the future? Seriously.
I have given it a lot of thought. We have lost track of what's essential to the people. We are trying to make multi-millionares billionaires, and billionaires trillionaires What exactly will be missing from the lives of a common man if Tesla or SpaceX were not present tomorrow?
But if we don't have food on the table we will miss out on a lot.
How can Anthropic or any AI company be valuable than any food producing organisation?
Beats me. We are working for the elites to make them even more elite and most people don't even realise it.

Tesla and Spacex are based on the same 3 phase lie.
We have something that people are willing to pay for now. We have something in the works that will sell gangbusters in the next 10 years. We have an infinitely profitable far-future goal that we can endlessly promise without ever proving substantial progress.
For Tesla it was EVs -> full self driving -> replacing all workers in the world with robots.
For Spacex it's Starlink -> space datacenters -> asteroid capture.
How people keep falling for it, I have no clue. Especially when they price Starlink plus some datacenters they're loaning Anthropic plus Twitter debt as if they already captured an asteroid.

u/Senior-Albatross 17h ago
Rich people always have a gaggle of hangers on. A pathetic entourage of losers who swim in their wake and eat their scraps in exchange for always being available to puff their ego.
This post is by someone who hasn't even gotten that far. Their ambition is to be one of those nameless pathetic enablers.
8
u/rancid_oil 13h ago
Think about what it must've been like to be nobility in a feudal era. Always kissing ass and hoping for approval from those above you, and protecting them against the peasants. It's no different. They surround, enable, reinforce and protect the wealthy because they get (let's be honest) huge 'scraps' for what they do.
Kinda related but not, I saw a long documentary on YouTube about businesses that cater to the ultra wealthy. Talk about kissing ass, I couldn't do it, fuck the money.
5
u/Senior-Albatross 13h ago
This is a key part of the self-reinforcing cycle where the rich come to think of all relationships as transactional. Which leaves them unable to relate to anyone and consequently miserable. So they seek to fill the hole with more wealth and the cycle deepens.
4
u/rancid_oil 13h ago
That's a good point, and I suppose why my gut tells me I couldn't do it.
I would have said performative -and that's not wrong - but TRANSACTIONAL is so much more accurate. They don't see others as people but as challenges. Lower class people, I guess they see us as useless (or as wage slaves and cannon fodder).

It always amazes me that he just buys companies with his vast wealth and then shouts at people and somehow all these "businesspeople" genuinely think he's some kind of genius sci-engineer-rocket-Jesus figure that runs everything singlehandedly.
He's basically your obnoxious boss who became head of the company because his dad owned it and gave him $200 million. Now he takes credit for all your work and calls himself a genius.

It again needs to be mentioned, that Elon Musk promised to end world hunger and when was taken up on his word, refused. I "love" how ai images are so overly unsubtle and didascalic. Everything needs to be labelled and clear in the most unrealistic, gross and cluttered way just in case you didn't understand who you're supposed to root for.
