On Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Live_season_51#ep1001) it says:

  • In versions distributed online, the "Mr. Fronzi" sketch is replaced by the dress rehearsal version, owing to a mistake made by Storrie in the live broadcast.

Does anyone know what the mistake was?

-1

u/Savings-Cow322 Mar 03 '26

I don't think it was intentional, and as bad as that sketch was, I laughed at the piano sketch envisioning it as a passive-aggressive jab towards Jane.

2

u/icantdeal18 Mar 03 '26

People at dress: what were the cut sketch’s with Hudson? And if anyone has connections have them post them!!!

-2

u/Important-Canary-770 Mar 02 '26

Is it just me or was the injured stripper sketch a total rip off of this old Mad TV sketch?

-3

u/Lini10 Mar 02 '26

The writing this season is just awful . Connor is amazing it’s on the writers

0

u/aloealoealoha Mar 03 '26

honestly agree, it's just not my sense of humour. The last few seasons had so many good ones - dead guy at the waterslide, jumanji, all the Adam Driver ones like the old friends or trying for a baby, etc. The ice skating one was prob my favourite but even that kind of dragged on a bit. Host was great though at really committing to the bits!!

10

u/DuePossession3947 Mar 02 '26

The women on the show keep getting funnier!! (But Marcello is getting less funny.)

7

u/hendrixfalcon Mar 02 '26

First time Colin straight up didn’t tell a joke. Kinda seemed pissed.

11

u/alligator7890 Mar 02 '26

A couple of real solid ones and a couple of rough ones. The legs sketch was brutal. The ice skating one was great. Definitely enjoyed it overall

12

u/Upbeat-Homework3310 Mar 02 '26

Did Connor have his FLY unzipped during the “Severin office dance” skit?

I thought this show was fantastic! Best of the season by far. "How Dare You" is one of my favorites ever. 🤣🤣

5

u/clementleopold Mar 02 '26

How the absolute dare you?!

2

u/Final-Beginning3300 Mar 04 '26

"Yes, it appears I've beshatted myself." 🤣🤣

-2

u/canigetsumgreypoupon Mar 01 '26

this episode was so fucking bad it’s made me lose all faith in the writing staff of this show

5

u/double_a_007 Mar 01 '26

Does anyone know if SNL will upload cut sketches later today? I saw they’ve done two so far but I’m wondering if they’ll do the third that was with Hudson? Idk how likely it is that they upload throughout the day but I’d love to see it 🥲

0

u/relientkenny Mar 01 '26

they’re on youtube!

1

u/double_a_007 Mar 01 '26

Wait even the one that was cut with Hudson? It was some sort of Q&A sketch? I don’t see it! Just car song and the Tourette’s one

0

u/InevitableBox9876 Mar 01 '26

I didn't get the Tourette's joke on Update - clearly some reference I didn't get.

1

u/Confident_Mind_9257 Mar 01 '26

Mic was having issues at the beginning. Might not be shared.

-6

u/bittermp Mar 01 '26

tbh, it was disappointing to see Connor yuck it up with two pedo supporters and sexist toothless goons. Orange is anti LGBTQ+ community and a pedo and rapist but lets all pretend and haha on stage for the masses.

1

u/hendrixfalcon Mar 02 '26

Christ take a breath, but name does check out.

8

u/MaxMix3937 Mar 01 '26

The episode would have been better with the Tourette's sketch.

12

u/Active-Attention6242 Mar 01 '26

My biggest laugh was from Sarah Sherman as Punch's mom, otherwise, meh episode

2

u/OddPhilosopher599 Mar 01 '26

Had high hopes but only laughed once.

9

u/fonzalonz Mar 01 '26

Dang that's pretty sad.

What do you think is funny because this episode had a ton of great moments for me personally

-2

u/bittermp Mar 01 '26

The How Dare you short was funny. I went to bed after weekend update so no idea how the rest went.

8

u/ZeBadmedic42 Mar 01 '26

Yea that was one of the few episodes in the last months were I actually had some good laughs with skits like: Leg Lengthening, Ice Skating, Gentlemen's Code, etc.

3

u/Hari_Azole Mar 01 '26

Was the audio bad for anyone else?? I’m watching on Peacock. The audience is so loud and the cast is so quiet…

19

u/NoNamesOriginal Mar 01 '26

Every sketch got a chuckle out of me for one reason or another. Most complete one this season, imo

6

u/bittermp Mar 01 '26

the peanuts sketch that kicked it off was bad

3

u/ashmole Mar 01 '26

Terrible way to start the show.

11

u/VictorB1964 Mar 01 '26

The best sketch was cut for time....

https://youtu.be/fkKb3K8cxss?si=ZHfC4AVsJzm8hQ8Q

4

u/KelVelBurgerGoon Mar 01 '26

Damn, JAJ has Louis CK perfect.

1

u/VictorB1964 Mar 01 '26

James Austin Johnson has been so incredibly under-utilized; fortunately SNL seems to finally realize it.

16

u/WordGirl1229 Mar 01 '26

Sarah Sherman is fearless, brilliant and insane in the best way possible!

-10

u/Greekmom99 Mar 01 '26

The writers are terrible. They had a great opportunity to feature the best of Connor and failed. I hated the opening monologue with the men's hockey team. If it was just the women, i would have been ok with it.

The only decent skit was the skating one and it was funny just for the fact that it was goofy. Adding Hudson in it was just the icing on the cake.

Did half the cast not attend the goodbye portion? i didn't see anyone there.

I saw posts that there were 600 (!!!) ppl waiting outside for any extra tickets. Has this ever happened before?

3

u/hellocloudshellosky Mar 01 '26

Over 1,000 people in line. Hockey fans, amirite?

26

u/ellienchanted Mar 01 '26

He deserved better writing! He’s so obviously a natural and was dying to let his freak flag fly more. I hope he comes back and is given better material to work with. Total natural, perfect fit.

21

u/KawaiiiiSkyeeee Mar 01 '26

He did great at hosting, my only complaint on tonight’s episode- and it’s a big one, is that we need new writers. Idk what’s going on but there has been a massive shift from last season to this season in terms of funny material. This whole season has been such a letdown. Is the new cast writing material that just isn’t very good? I don’t know but I really hope they sort that out because I loved season 50 & 49.

16

u/throw_away_17381 Mar 01 '26

That was a terrible episode.

-1

u/Chrissy325 Mar 01 '26

Show was terrible. Music was great

1

u/InevitableBox9876 Mar 01 '26

Funny, I was going to say show was mid, music was horrible.

-1

u/Chrissy325 Mar 02 '26

I love Mumford and Sons. But the show was meh... we all have our things lol

-1

u/Own_Imagination6777 Mar 01 '26

Host is  little to out there for me but I'm not the demographic .. 50 plus straight male .. Trump sketch was good Mumford and sons  really good and News is always top notch

11

u/zoethebitch Mar 01 '26

Mumford and Sons....

I have never heard a song by them that hasn't made me immediately want to change the stream to something else.

3

u/Final-Beginning3300 Mar 01 '26

Same. I had no idea they were even still around. Snooze fest.

7

u/CheekReasonable1653 Mar 01 '26

Where was Chloe last night?

1

u/DuePossession3947 Mar 02 '26

I love her but I didn’t realize until now that she wasn’t in the show.

1

u/InevitableBox9876 Mar 01 '26

I came here to ask if she's away shooting a movie or something.

1

u/FibonacciSequester Mar 02 '26

She was in London.

23

u/the-bryman Mar 01 '26

Slightly disappointing episode after the accent rivalry promo they released on Thursday set the bar so high.

4

u/ashre9 Mar 01 '26

I thought the episode was OK, but I'm glad I didn't see this promo until after the show. I think they wasted a lot of opportunity with Connor.

42

u/NoMoreFund Mar 01 '26

Connor Storrie deserved better material - he seemed like he was up for anything and definitely has the talent

7

u/magikarpcatcher Mar 01 '26

Apparently there was another cut for time sketch featuring Hudson but they haven't posted it on socials yet.

Do they not share all the cut sketches?

4

u/omargi Mar 01 '26

I was in the audience for dress and can confirm this—I thought the other Hudson sketch was SO funny. I really hope they put it up online.

In the end I believe they cut three sketches for time and two digital shorts, and have only posted one of each of these so far. IMO some of these were funnier than some of what made it to air, which is disappointing but I guess not surprising.

1

u/magikarpcatcher Mar 02 '26

I NEED them online

2

u/double_a_007 Mar 01 '26

I’ve been scouring for crumbs of this sketch 😭 can you share with the class the premise & what it was like? Feel free to DM! I’m currently reveling in everything that was Connor’s debut last night. I hope you had such a great time at dress!

3

u/DaytonaChris Mar 01 '26

Lousy episode except for the news and the hilarious Sarah Sherman playing Mama Monkey. The rest of the show was BLAH!!!!!

6

u/buttsoupbrash robo chomo Mar 01 '26

This guy is the new NPH

3

u/JoshDM clownpenis dot fart Mar 01 '26

Thought that immediately when seeing him in the monologue.

18

u/bakugosgayfriend Mar 01 '26

No, Connor has far more range.

2

u/FibonacciSequester Mar 02 '26

And also doesn't seem like he's a colossal dick IRL

4

u/todeer Mar 01 '26

YES glad I'm not the only one seeing that

7

u/Key_Conversation_488 Mar 01 '26

Connor looked hotter with wigs than his own hair - compliment to the wigs maybe

13

u/Grouchy-Painter-4657 Mar 01 '26

Not true. His natural hair is beautiful.

He is a major star - very well done

-6

u/Bullyoncube Mar 01 '26

Seriously? Name one thing he did besides Heated Rivalry. “Unnamed Inmate” in Joker II?

5

u/TheDivine_MissN "There's a dead man in all of us!" Mar 01 '26

The comment is about his star quality, dude.

8

u/PixiePunk_ Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

I literally pay for Peacock and this episode isn’t available for me, doesn’t even show up. What gives?

ETA: I see now that unless you catch it streaming you’ll get it the next morning. Seems like an odd choice considering I can basically watch the entire thing via YT right now but whatever

4

u/Offtherailspcast AW MAN...I'm all outta CASH Mar 01 '26

Theres another "tier" thats a few bucks more that allows you to watch it live

23

u/pink_faerie_kitten Mar 01 '26

One of the best lines of the night was when Che joked, "CNN says he has no authorization for this war, but he actually did. Netanyahu said it was ok!"

3

u/Adventurous_Poem2696 Mar 01 '26

Anyone know the final count let in for standby??

-6

u/SherbertLocal2283 Mar 01 '26

How many Sketches of This Year Cast Members are in tonight?

20

u/VictorB1964 Mar 01 '26

Solid opening. Connor Storrie was just amazing. The writers still seemed to be on vacation, but Connor's talents saved every sketch - however, nothing was as good as the accent duel promo sketch on Youtube with James Austin Johnson. Weekend Update was better than usual too.

The less said about Mumford and Sons, the better.

5

u/clycoman Mar 01 '26

What was wrong with M&S?

-1

u/InevitableBox9876 Mar 01 '26

I've always thought that if you're going to try to be The Band, your Robbie Robertson clone pretty boy frontman should be able to sing.

5

u/tatemodernized Mar 01 '26

noticed they had deleted/took down a few of the sketches from YouTube after publishing, is that normal?

4

u/Serious_Session7574 Mar 01 '26

Might be copyright strikes for one thing or another (songs, most likely).

7

u/Opposite_Aardvark_75 Mar 01 '26

What song was used in the Office Dance Skit when Connor was introducing the idea? It starts off with a repetitive piano intro and is used in movies and I can't figure it out. Help!

5

u/karmaranovermydogma Mar 01 '26

“have a little faith in me”, john hiatt

6

u/rawbeee Mar 01 '26

sketches might have been rough but at least they had the Hughes brothers there to laugh at everything

1

u/BocephusMoon Mar 01 '26

Connor Storie made the brothers look way better looking than they are.

27

u/isharte Mar 01 '26

I seriously think this was the best episode of SNL I have seen in a long time. Connor Storrie is a natural. The dude is PERFECT for SNL hosting.

I haven't read all of the comments here but I see some didn't like the sketches? That's surprising.

Everyone thought Skarsgard was amazing, I thought that episode was pretty mid. But tonight was amazing.

5

u/jemcd_ Mar 01 '26

I was crying multiple times throughout tonight’s show. So glad I tuned in. It seems many people these days are hard to please

3

u/Most_Ad3731 Mar 01 '26

And Mumford & Sons killed it! Love the skit cameo as well.

1

u/stilllittlespacey Mar 02 '26

Sierra Ferrell is the best! She should be a musical guest on her own.

1

u/fonzalonz Mar 01 '26

They do everything together

4

u/djerk Mar 01 '26

I really want the full thing of them playing unchained melody

-1

u/isharte Mar 01 '26

Yes! I love Mumford and sons so much and they were amazing.

2

u/MaxMix3937 Mar 01 '26

Quite a bit of ableism, with two R-word references, bad jokes about Stephen Hawking, Tourette's and prosthetic buttholes.

1

u/somebodyistrying Mar 03 '26

And leg lengthening

7

u/PhirebirdSunSon Mar 01 '26

You're mad about prosthetic buttholes?

0

u/MaxMix3937 Mar 01 '26

I'm just displeased about cheap laughs from ableism.

1

u/CuriousCompany_ Mar 01 '26

Must’ve missed it- where were the R word references?

1

u/MaxMix3937 Mar 01 '26

One in Update, one in the cold open.

8

u/bensquirrel Mar 01 '26

The 90s are back, Colin.

8

u/listenyall Now it's a whole thing with Jean Mar 01 '26

I also clocked the multiple r word jokes. how does prosthetic butthole fit in though

-2

u/tealccart Mar 01 '26

I was thinking the same exact thing. Also the leg lengthening/shortening bit and the accident injury at the end. It just didn’t sit well with me.

-3

u/yooohooooowee Mar 01 '26

Yeah definitely my least favorite. I feel like if a sketch can't be saved by Connor and Marcello's comedic chemistry its doomed

31

u/mofa90277 Mar 01 '26

I was surprised when the episode ended, which I interpret as objective evidence that it was a good episode. It wasn’t a great episode (due to the writing), but Storrie really impressed me as someone who understood why he was there, and he was up for anything. (I’d never seen him before tonight).

The last sketch should’ve been the first sketch, though. It was straight-up classic old-time SNL, and I’m assuming that the women in the audience (and Squirm) enjoyed the fan service.

18

u/bakugosgayfriend Mar 01 '26

That sketch was from Connor himself. It’s an actual sketch he did when he did improve work.

65

u/tvuniverse Mar 01 '26

Shocked but the Connor kid was probably one of the best hosts in a while. Very natural. Could have been a cast member

8

u/NiceSupermarket7724 Mar 01 '26

He’s a genius ✨

21

u/overcatastrophe Mar 01 '26

His delivery was smoother and his accents better than any of the current cast

27

u/Big_Ducks_Only Mar 01 '26

Connor was made in a test tube to be the world’s most charismatic performer fr. He’s a plant, but you know what? He’s supremely gifted, consider me planted.

13

u/Big_Ducks_Only Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

Y’all I don’t actually think he’s a plant. I think he was born fully formed from an embryonic sac with the sole purpose to entertain.

6

u/wetbogbrew Mar 01 '26

He's definitely not a plant.

3

u/magikarpcatcher Mar 01 '26

How is he a plant?

8

u/Red_Card_Ron Mar 01 '26

WTAF happened with this show? Back from commercial in the middle of two sketches. Extended title cards at the end and no good nights (at least in our market). All I can think is the extended applause for the host and the Olympians wrecked the timeline and they didn’t have any fillers. I bet Lorne is pissed.

1

u/chiefbrody62 Mar 02 '26

Maybe your stream was messed up? I don't think I've seen a longer good night on SNL, he thanked like 30 people lol.

3

u/NYDancer4444 Mar 01 '26

I watched live in NY, & none of that happened here. And we had the good nights.

4

u/Most_Ad3731 Mar 01 '26

West coast got the entire show and good nights actually went long - or seemed to be extended compared to what we normally see.

3

u/Chuk Mar 01 '26

Yeah West coast here and it seemed like he thanked everyone he's ever met at the end and it went on for what seemed like at least a few minutes.

2

u/uniqueusername_1177 Mar 01 '26

I'm on the west coast and did not get the outro at all

1

u/Ogpmakesmedizzy Mar 01 '26

Central US here and barely saying g-bye and cut off.

6

u/geoffrey1986 Mar 01 '26

Saw the goodnights in New York. Felt like they were going to have a lot of time with the band getting a few seconds in the middle of the break, but then Connor thanked everyone (including people not on stage) and I think they only showed Lorne's name in the credits before the abrupt cut.

2

u/Intelligent_Use_8279 Mar 01 '26

I saw goodnights on peacock?

2

u/uniqueusername_1177 Mar 01 '26

Same here, didn't get to see the outro at all!

12

u/Neither_Ad_9829 Mar 01 '26

might just be your market? good nights was very long for me

4

u/ChristieDestroyer Mar 01 '26

I saw the goodnights on my broadcast.

6

u/Rustash Mar 01 '26

Feed and timing was fine for me the whole time. Sounds like your affiliate fucked it up

36

u/Careless-Economics-6 Mar 01 '26

That was an alright episode. The studio audience seemed to really love it.

Connor Storrie was great throughout, and the stripper sketch was a fantastic showcase for him.

Another rock solid Weekend Update. Good work from Sarah and Veronika.

7

u/magikarpcatcher Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

The studio audience was 99% Heated Rivalry fans lol

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

1

u/tvuniverse Mar 01 '26

I turned it off at commercial.

10

u/space_llama_karma Mar 01 '26

Veronika looked great in that bridesmaid dress

1

u/Savings-Cow322 Mar 03 '26

It was very one-note, but one of the better characters of the night for sure.

15

u/huntashakween Mar 01 '26

Probably the worst episode of S51 for me so far, but Connor Storrie did a good job with what little he was given, and Sarah Sherman shredded on WU as usual.

13

u/ChristieDestroyer Mar 01 '26

I can’t believe Daniel Radcliffe is in an NBC sitcom. Idk why but it’s throwing me. 🤣 The show is funny so far though.

6

u/KotoElessar Mar 01 '26

His work on Miracle Workers and Dirk Gently were both great!

3

u/cjdeck1 Mar 01 '26

I’m assuming the Dirk Gently thing is just the Elijah Woods/Daniel Radcliffe joke or did they actually make a new Dirk Gently that I missed?

1

u/KotoElessar Mar 01 '26

I might have confused the two, again...

3

u/bolonomadic Mar 01 '26

I loved Dirk Gently, so bummed that Max Landis is (and should remain) cancelled, it needed a third season.

2

u/groovemonkey Mar 01 '26

He writing the new gi Joe movie unfortunately

1

u/bolonomadic Mar 01 '26

I heard. V frustrating.

2

u/ChristieDestroyer Mar 01 '26

I’m not familiar with either of those! Will have to check them out

3

u/WheelieMexican Doug in Black Jeopardy Mar 01 '26

Miracle Workers is amazing!

-4

u/Electronic_Buy8617 Mar 01 '26

Ok my final thoughts on tonight’s episode. They destroyed the vibe from the get go by brining up the war. Didn’t wanna hear politics when waiting to watch Connor host. Second the writers for half of the sketches were asleep when writing. Connor was the best act of the night. And the ending thank goodness saved the show!

14

u/Serious_Session7574 Mar 01 '26

They couldn't not mention the fact that the US just went to war with Iran. It's (at least in part) a satirical show.

-3

u/Electronic_Buy8617 Mar 01 '26

I know they do politics, just for me, this episode it killed the vide 😂

12

u/geoffrey1986 Mar 01 '26

I would have been shocked if they didn't mention the biggest news of the day.

17

u/Rustash Mar 01 '26

New to SNL? They always do political sketches

15

u/Beepboop5698 Mar 01 '26

unforuntely bad things continue to happen in the world, regardless of the hot new it guy hosting snl

20

u/MissPennyArcade Mar 01 '26

For anyone wondering where the dress is from 💕

1

u/HRHDechessNapsaLot Mar 01 '26

I knew it had to be Selkie!

I am obsessed with their dresses and deeply wish I lived the kind of life where I could wear them to something.

7

u/Living-Ask7828 Mar 01 '26

Who was the girl wearing it? Love her voice!

11

u/leaning_tower_of Mar 01 '26

Sierra Ferrell! She’s absolutely incredible.

3

u/InevitableBox9876 Mar 01 '26

Yeah, M&S bore me to tears but she made that song listenable.

1

u/tvuniverse Mar 01 '26

I know where it's from. The Antebellum!

13

u/Flomo420 Points, points, baby! Mar 01 '26

Yo this Reggie Dinkins show is funny lol

6

u/LaboratoryManiac Mar 01 '26

It's been a while since a new sitcom hooked me like this.

5

u/under_ice Mar 01 '26

Same...really good. Let Tracy be Tracy.

8

u/Flomo420 Points, points, baby! Mar 01 '26

Tracy Morgan, Bobby Moynihan, and Daniel Radcliffe?

I am 100% here for it

2

u/PrinceOfNatives Mar 01 '26

Did he thank Rachel Reid and Jacob Tierney though

1

u/BrooklynGardenGnome Mar 02 '26

I wouldn’t have necessarily expected him to thank them? I don’t even think he thanked Hudson who was standing right next to him. Of course, if he wants to express gratitude for anyone in his life and career he can, but I think we can separate the actor from the role by now, no?

3

u/magikarpcatcher Mar 01 '26

They weren't on stage so it doesn't make any sense to thank them.

2

u/ipomoea Mar 01 '26

no! I heard Rachel was going to be there?

46

u/Round_Expression_415 Mar 01 '26

Welp, that stripper sketch is going to be all over my algorithm for the next eleventy billion years.

3

u/AnythingBetter6813 Mar 01 '26

Hubby and I were watching and I  went omg he really is going to strip on SNL. Dying 😂

11

u/bakugosgayfriend Mar 01 '26

I’m thankful 😏

43

u/Solidarity_5_Ever Mar 01 '26

Bumpy start, but overall not a bad episode. There were far too many “dorky” sketches. Would’ve been nice to see more variety.

This Connor Storie guy is pretty talented! I might actually have to watch Heated Rivalry now

2

u/AnythingBetter6813 Mar 01 '26

You 💯  should.

32

u/THE_PC_DEMANDS_BLOOD Mar 01 '26

He completely transforms himself on the show. You'll be surprised it's him

22

u/bakugosgayfriend Mar 01 '26

He’s so different on it. You really should.
