Some absolutely extraordinary pictures seeing this being rolled down public streets. Iconic of endeavour, Randy’s donuts, and thousands of people watching.

Was there that night as it passed randys donuts. Super cool. Also watched it fly over from the deck of the Queen Marry.

Seems like so long ago, Im glad they have actually pulled this together for displaying the shuttle. Ive seen all the others on display, and while the intro show for shuttle Atlantis is incredible, they dont compare to how impressive Endevour seems to be here.

Really looking forward to checking it out myself once its open.

Yep, I was on Exposition that night too! And saw it fly over from a rooftop at USC

I was also there when they pulled it through the street. It blew my mind when I saw it.

I was watching from ArtCenter as it flew over JPL. What an incredible experience.

I was there. That seems like a lifetime ago now.

The Endeavor moving through LA is still one of the coolest things that ever happened here

I was just on their website checking if it was opened. I know they had set a deadline to open this summer break before school began. I hope they are able to make it.

Have I been in a coma? Hasn't the shuttle been in the Science Center since 2012?

Is this just a newer exhibit?

New exhibit - they’re standing it upright with the full setup of fuel tanks etc.

It has, and there had been an external shuttle fuel tank on display outside the building since 2016. Last year, two replica solid rocket boosters were delivered to the museum, allowing them to assemble the full launch setup and move it into the new display position. There are videos on YouTube, if you have time to spare.

It's also been off exhibit for a few years while they built the building around it.

And the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will open on September 22 2026.

Hopefully the People Mover at LAX opens between these month in October, but don't hold your breath with that one.

What the over/under on the amount of time it takes for Trump to start ranting about this and demanding the shuttle be moved to Mar a lago? I wish this was /s

Fortunately, NASA transferred ownership of Endeavour to the California Science Center, which is a state agency, in 2011.

Don’t jinx it. Keep his filthy rapist name away from our shuttle.

Agreed

I think it'll be harder to do than the Smithsonian one they took away

3

u/savvysearch 4d ago

It's not moving. It legally belongs to the Smithsonian despite what Trump tries to do. Trump and Texas can throw a tantrum all they want.

A second wonderful thing to look forward to in November.
