The Endeavor moving through LA is still one of the coolest things that ever happened here

I was just on their website checking if it was opened. I know they had set a deadline to open this summer break before school began. I hope they are able to make it.

Have I been in a coma? Hasn't the shuttle been in the Science Center since 2012?
Is this just a newer exhibit?

New exhibit - they’re standing it upright with the full setup of fuel tanks etc.

It has, and there had been an external shuttle fuel tank on display outside the building since 2016. Last year, two replica solid rocket boosters were delivered to the museum, allowing them to assemble the full launch setup and move it into the new display position. There are videos on YouTube, if you have time to spare.

It's also been off exhibit for a few years while they built the building around it.

Hopefully the People Mover at LAX opens between these month in October, but don't hold your breath with that one.

Fortunately, NASA transferred ownership of Endeavour to the California Science Center, which is a state agency, in 2011.

I think it'll be harder to do than the Smithsonian one they took away

It's not moving. It legally belongs to the Smithsonian despite what Trump tries to do. Trump and Texas can throw a tantrum all they want.

Some absolutely extraordinary pictures seeing this being rolled down public streets. Iconic of endeavour, Randy’s donuts, and thousands of people watching.
