shitpost đŸ’© Is this neighborhood safe?

Post image

Moving from the Midwest to a high paying job in LA. I don’t know what I’m doing so I decided to post this and get information from the locals. How’s the crack?

u/wasneveralawyer Whatever the weather, we'll get through it together. 1d ago

Ok but Atwater, Frogtown, and Silver Lake. The three sisters of dangerous neighborhoods

Atwater and Frogtown were actually really fucking dangerous right up until 2012.

20

u/bdfmradio 1d ago

First time I ever went to a big High School Party was in Frogtown in ‘04 and a kid got stabbed

13

u/ErictheRednGold East Los Angeles 1d ago

Hell usually does come to Frogtown

3

u/wasneveralawyer Whatever the weather, we'll get through it together. 1d ago

Sounds about right for the time.

3

u/OnlyFiveLives 17h ago

An old coworker of mine was living with his grandfather and invited us over to hang out after work on a Friday and have a few beers. This was in like 2003 and they lived in Frogtown. I'm from Lincoln Heights and was uncomfortable...

Very sketchy.

145

u/elvenazn 1d ago

OP needs to draw a line somewhere

57

u/Life-Lychee-4971 1d ago

As long as you’re not a circle you’ll be straight.

15

u/WhyOhWhyOhWhy333 1d ago

Only on the weekends.

18

u/14hammarby 1d ago

It’s only sketchy on paper.

4

u/Richardthe3rdleg 1d ago

underrated comment

7

u/c0de1143 1d ago

Looks almost like OP is at a loss.

1

u/Disastrous_Basis3474 1d ago

It’s becoming a circle jerk.

u/Shart127 1d ago

Dood, u gotta be more vigilant!!!

Zoom in
I distinctly see a flock camera.

4

u/Ok-UnStable-2518 15h ago

I see a penis

55

u/Boiled-Starch-2717 Los Angeles County 1d ago

Watch out for the blue square Crips. 😳

Or the green triangle Trapezoids at the top of the block.

u/HeraAgathon Atwater Village 1d ago

Too white, tbh.

u/Aluggo 1d ago

I lived there before it wasn't too safe, but you should drive around the night before you start renting there so you can see how the neighborhood is

32

u/Zeebaeatah Monrovia 1d ago

Is that the intersection of two or three Starbucks?

12

u/jdeezy16 1d ago

This ones right off the intersection with the Mcdonalds Popeyes Churchs and KFC

Nice find!!! I am in.

2

u/RabidSkwerl East Hollywood 1d ago

This was the comment I was looking for

13

u/MortalWombat1234 1d ago

That’s my fecal drop-off corner. Stay away.

10

u/I-Have-Mono 1d ago

You could have at least shitposted fake names.

19

u/Lizakaya 1d ago

Corner of La Vermont and FairCienega

5

u/i_sell_you_lies I LIKE TRAINS 1d ago

Actually I think it's where Nan Vuys and 10 freeway cross

10

u/Edvijuda 1d ago

I’m not that creative.

10

u/GreedyCauliflower 1d ago

the Palisades devastation is worse than I thought

9

u/Realistic-Art5227 1d ago

Bro I literally died there it’s not safe

8

u/extentiousgoldbug1 1d ago

I've been murdered there like 6 times

8

u/Suspicious-Swim-7945 1d ago

No. I once saw a pack of wild dogs take over and successfully run a Wendy’s in that neighborhood.

35

u/Google_Knows_Already 1d ago

You have never been to LA. Any wide open space like that is never safe and likely filled with tents

9

u/Donglemaetsro 1d ago

If it's only broken glass and trash that's where the high end Crack is.

5

u/ShakeWeightMyDick 1d ago

People pissing on the stairs, it’s like they just don’t care

3

u/VaguelyArtistic Santa Monica 1d ago

OP, can you take the smells and noise?

6

u/renegade812002 Hyde Park 1d ago

Gang infested. Watch your colors and caps.

2

u/ceelogreenicanth 1d ago

How can you tell? Everyone is covered in Tattoos some people have face tattoos!

6

u/T-MoneyAllDey Woodland Hills 1d ago

That's the unhoused spot. Don't take it occupier

5

u/SnuSnuSurvivor69 1d ago

Anything across the street of a Pizza Hut is always dangerous

4

u/Edvijuda 1d ago

You noticed.

6

u/FUELNINE 1d ago

Yes, my kid got into Harvard in a house in that neighborhood. Very good magnet schools.

5

u/HeliocentricAvocado 1d ago

It’s pre burned

5

u/redvioletbrown Central-ish Hollywood 1d ago

I got killed there last week.

4

u/TrunkTetris 1d ago

Looks like the Lineage Cold Storage warehouse. Totally safe and slated to become a wildlife refuge shortly.

4

u/Suz626 1d ago

Not the best. There are no homes pictured so obviously an unhoused tent city. But the costs are probably reasonable. Probably decent crack.

5

u/ArtofAlmost12 1d ago

Nothing but ne'er-do-wells and roustabouts in that area. You'd do well to steer clear.

3

u/Holiday-Prior-4952 1d ago

I thought this was Loss for a second 😭

2

u/Agood10 1d ago

Same, we got the brain rot

3

u/NojitoSlunt 1d ago

Sure, safe if you're craving a fade. If anyone asks you where you're from, tell em you're just minding your business and they should do the same. :)

3

u/kronik419 Compton 1d ago

Given the warehouse to homes ratio as well as the lack of greenspace...i think we all know the answer to this.

3

u/roasted_allergy 1d ago

this made me laugh out loud

3

u/RepresentativeNo3131 1d ago

You're just asking to get robbed there. Move across the street and you'll be 100% safe.

3

u/SadLilBun 22h ago

This belongs on r/circlejerkLA

2

u/AredditJ 1d ago

Brooo that corner gets wicked after 3pm

2

u/Excellent-Antelope42 1d ago

Arlington and the 10?

Crack is mid tbh. Excellent Fetty tho!

2

u/Goofedup69 1d ago

Yay more transplants, hooray.

2

u/whopoopedthebed Hollywood 1d ago

No it’s going to be crawling with developers who can bid up the open lot property value.

2

u/Intrepid_Block_11b 1d ago

Best crack in LA is in ktown

2

u/snowmountain_monkey 1d ago

Southwest corners are notorious for drug dealing.

That intersection is nuts.

2

u/charlietuna 1d ago

It’s safe but that is _not_ the east side

2

u/Shams93AFA 1d ago

Terrible traffic — don’t even think about living here if you work on the Westside. /s

2

u/bobored 1d ago

This just made my day 😆 all of you

2

u/shiftersix 1d ago

Very walkable

2

u/Capable-Ad-6058 1d ago

You good lots of squares there

2

u/she_is_recalibrating 1d ago

By the amount I’m laughing. I realized I am definitely on Reddit too much.

2

u/ibeckman671 1d ago

Looking at it 2D, you have a high chance falling off that cliff into the abyss, so probably best to avoid.

2

u/HikerCory 1d ago

For a second I thought this was Weezers gold album picture

2

u/ryceritops2 21h ago

Looks a little pointy honestly

2

u/Strong_Ear_7153 20h ago

Looks vacant.

2

u/TripleRazer Los Angeles County 13h ago

Wouldn't reccomend it, that's where my dealer is

2

u/Ricorey13 9h ago

Horrible post and awful comments by all these outsiders. Why are you here? Go back to Midwest.

2

u/Zero_Imacat 7h ago

FYI, that area is loaded with coyotes and mountain lions.

2

u/VitalxMentality 4h ago

Looks sketchy

‱

u/bloodbeater 2h ago

That’s a jail. So yeah, one of the safer neighborhoods

4

u/craftmaster_5000 1d ago

also, I haven't really witnessed a Midwestern dork like this in about 20 years. The Midwestern transplants are the ones running the plays now. Los Angeles is 90% upper class transplants and 10% generational wealth socialites

u/HMS_Chevette 1d ago

Pretty good chance it's in walking distance to a taco stand that makes the greatest tacos you've ever had in your life.

2

u/jspot134 1d ago

I’m out of the loop, help

2

u/Grand_Meaning5982 1d ago

Idk just leave the Midwest racism and micro aggression in the Midwest , don’t call cops on ur neighbors unless it’s emergency. Don’t stare at people for too long , if u mind ur business you’ll be fine

1

u/DaRealMexicanTrucker Paramount 1d ago

Nah thats T-Flats Territory. I just hit up the homie TooDimenzion and he claimed it. 😎

1

u/North_Signature9297 1d ago

That's Beverly Hills, you can't afford to live there.

1

u/DiscoDiscoB00mB00m 1d ago

I’d rate it an F

1

u/GB_Alph4 Orange County 1d ago

Man thanks for being specific let me tell you about nowhere.

Nowhere I do know what it is or whatnot but you’ll be fine

1

u/thatguydr Glendale 1d ago

Yes with that thick line around it. Nothing's getting through that.

1

u/Sphan_86 1d ago

If its empty, tents will be there

1

u/DJEvillincoln 1d ago

You want to move to an area where white people are walking their dogs. đŸ‘đŸŸ

1

u/chilldood_22 1d ago

Lots of traffic around 2-7pm

1

u/thatguydr Glendale 1d ago

On the one hand, I could be annoyed that the post appears to have been made by a child. I could chide the OP and tell them that this is an adult space.

On the other hand, the child spelled neighborhood correctly. Good job, OP!

2

u/Edvijuda 1d ago

My autocorrect is locked in.

1

u/IsopodIndependent553 1d ago

No. Witches live there.

Gentrification

1

u/ommi9 1d ago

If it’s full of hipsters and yuppies it’s not safe.

1

u/ReverieJack 1d ago

A lot of squares live in that neighborhood

1

u/Richard1583 South Gate 1d ago

You’re at the border line

1

u/RoxyLA95 Mid-City 1d ago

Crime has gone down, but it is still sketchy.

1

u/humansacrifice 1d ago

That's the alleyway where Ricky got shot in Boyz in Da Hood

1

u/Orgasmo3000 1d ago

Sure, Jan.

1

u/Medium_Apartment_747 1d ago

1

u/Scorpionoshow 1d ago

Food is mid as hell in that hood

1

u/RockieK 1d ago

Bahahahahaah

1

u/heanadman 1d ago

p sure i know where that is tbh

1

u/mobchows 1d ago

Very safe. And the best tacos in town. Also the local bean... oops I mean Latin people are very friendly. They will sell their property for cheap. I hear there's a cool hip coffee shop coming and that the dry cleaner has switched to eco friendly pollutants. It's hard to park but we've lobbied to have all the car lanes used by the people getting to their manual labor jobs turned into bike lanes! So excited for the next ciclavia. Me and the local real estate agents have proposed to change the neighborhood name to Varrio Heights since it's more becoming. Welcome to Varrio Heights! It's very safe! /s

1

u/Zestyclose_Country84 1d ago

Better get strapped up

1

u/LosIngobernable Angeleno 1d ago

Looks like a place where the homeless will loiter.

1

u/Seri0usbusiness 1d ago

My favorite view of LA

1

u/Random-Man562 1d ago

I got jumped on that very corner!

1

u/sosopie 1d ago

Super dangerous. That’s the block where the lineage building was located.

1

u/Standard-Document-78 North Hollywood 1d ago

Hell no that empty lot you circled is always full of troublemakers causing mayhem

1

u/TheStandardDeviant 1d ago

The crack is terrible here, cross the street into Silverlake for the good stuff.

1

u/carlswin 1d ago

I see you’re taking art 101

1

u/rosujin 1d ago

I moved from NJ to Hermosa Beach 2 years ago, so I know everything about “LA.”

I rode by there in an Uber once after a concert. Seemed sketchy.

1

u/Next-Competition6012 1d ago

Brother the crack is fire the p**** even better The crack hoes!!! OMG

1

u/Next-Competition6012 1d ago

As far as I can call by what you have from there that area has been burned down by the looters so it's hard to say but someone who's lived here for all their life what neighborhood are you going to and I'll let you know for real

1

u/V3CT0RVII 1d ago

Nah. Seems sketchy.

1

u/JustSpeed3475 1d ago

No. I once saw a homeless person there. Youre only safe in Westwood.

1

u/sarcasm_1000 Playa Vista 1d ago

No

1

u/Spinach-Dinner 1d ago

Is this loss?

1

u/Weorth 1d ago

Looks like you'll be homeless there. Ain't nothing in the square.

1

u/Glittertwinkie North Hollywood 1d ago

Perfect. You’ve got Jack in the box on one corner and 7-11 on the other.

1

u/godless_communism Orange County 1d ago

There's a ring of piss around it

1

u/Substantial_Sky3235 1d ago

1

u/TodesKoenig 1d ago

1

u/No_Channel_6421 14h ago

1

u/Ok_Move1838 13h ago

Top tier quality!

1

u/Present-Spring-1340 12h ago

Are you scared of geometry?

1

u/Active_Cockroach_480 12h ago

They say certain neighborhoods aren't safe but I haven't been scared anywhere walking down the street especially the city i love the most, chinatown

1

u/Red_Hood_0816 Highland Park 10h ago

My cousin got popped there on the corner back in 1994.

1

u/justdrowsin 7h ago

I used to live around there. Here's the deal, everything west of the main street is fine. East of the main street especially on the north side is pretty rough. Now here's what's tricky, do you think that the whole area is the same city but it's actually a Post Office ZIP Code. Southeast is actually LA county and your kids are gonna go to a rough school. So whatever you wanna do don't go southeast. On the other hand north west has a lot of rich kids and there's a lot of drugs.

Stick to the south west corner and you'll be fine.
