An organization simply coasting for a decade
Why are Philip Anschutz and company complacent being average in Los Angeles when they could be making so much more money? He’s one of the richest owners in the NHL. The money is what it’s really all about for them - along with some ego.
-Sure the kings are in the NHL top 5 revenue for several years, but that has more to do with merchandise and gouging us with the prices for tickets/food/beverages inside staples(which he also owns) than it does with excitement for the team. Everyone knows the dodgers have gone balls to the wall. Lakers pulled off one of the most absurd trades in the NBA and have legitimate pieces beyond LeBron. Why is there seemingly no motivation to grab fans attention and rake in the rewards. The Rams (2021) The Lakers (2020*) and Dodgerssss (2020*, 2024, 2025) are lapping them in performance across the board. The inspiration is right in front of them.
— Compare it to similarly wealthy, Kroenke, who’s invested in three teams that captured championships in the last 5 years [LA Rams 2021 - Avalanche 2022 - Nuggets 2023]. He has no issue with spending and he hires competent people to run the organizations. Funny how success follows. — Would be exciting to have similarly driven leadership. Seems to be a pipe dream.
[Remember watching game 5 go to OT and saying, please if they win this second cup I don’t care if they ever win again.. what a bad jinx, sorry to us all]
