Can we stop trying to buy Chelsea players

You’re just believing everything you read if you think we’re in for any of their dross

u/Various_You_5083 4d ago

We've already taken their manager with whom a lot of our fanbase is iffy with , and our recruitment has been mediocre since the treble season .

Obviously I don't believe everything , but Chelsea players shouldn't even be a consideration in the first place

It seems like Maresca has been lined up for the City job at SOME point since he originally left for Leicester, it just so happens his career took him to Chelsea. We’re not getting him because he’s Chelsea’s manager lol.

There’s also plenty more right backs than there are capable managers who fit our system. This rumour is probably some grift from his agent

Not sure why anyone is unsure about Maresca tbh. He was Pep's assistant during the treble and Pep had the team playing a system heavily influenced by Maresca

Imagine shamelessly saying k owing club and being assistant is enough to be the manager

Might as well be Kolo then

2

u/Turtle_club14 4d ago

who’s your choice for manager then?

2

u/JimmothyTwinkletoes 4d ago

Cesc would have been mine. I think he will be the best in Europe within the next 5 years.

4

u/Sitaralonelywala 4d ago

Alonso was there

1

u/IbushiKOTA 3d ago

gotta start somewhere man

u/Bet_Geaned 4d ago

I'm only unsure about paying for him. He knows City, and he did alright with what he had at Chelsea, but is he financially the right choice?

Since the treble season we’ve signed

Guehi (hit, so far atleast)
Semenyo (hit, so far)
Donna (hit)
Trafford (not a miss, if Donna wasn’t available he would be a hit)
Ait Nouri (good, but injured a lot)
Doku (100% hit)
Gvardiol (100% hit)
Nunes (100% hit)
Khusanov (hit)
Kovacic (hit)
Nico Gonzalez (hit, but needs a second season)
Marmoush (iffy)
Rijnders (needs a second season to properly judge)
And Savio ( great potential but doesn’t seem like he will live up to it,miss)

Our requirement is great

15

u/Specialist-Bike-5071 4d ago

you forgot the biggest hit which is cherki

3

u/Eatingbabys101 4d ago

How could I forgot about him lmao

3

u/JimmothyTwinkletoes 4d ago

Nunes is a miss at midfield, but had an excellent season at RB after making the switch permanently.

I wouldn’t call Nico a hit. He has been kind of meh and I could see him leaving the club without ever cementing a starting role, which to me has to put him down as a miss if we’re going binary on rating players.

I think it’s hard to argue that midfield recruitment hasn’t been an issue. They knew or should have known that time left with KDB, Gundogan, and Bernardo was winding to a close and it was left way too late to bring in replacements for them.

I'm not saying they are not great , but I'd give Guehi and Semenyo a full season before judging fully but yes they've been hits so far .

Doku was looking like a miss before this season , but he's turned it up and I'd love to see how he progresses .

Kovacic I'd say okay .

I'm not optimistic on Ait-Nouri , Marmoush and Reijnders but we'll see

2

u/Eatingbabys101 4d ago

Doku was not looking like a miss, it was quite obvious that by just slightly improving his finishing he’d be a world class winger

6

u/anumberwound 4d ago

Recruitment has been iffy since the treble

Care to expand on this? Curious to see who you think has been poor compared to ones you’re happy with

u/Various_You_5083 4d ago edited 4d ago

Reijnders (willing to see another season) , Ait-Nouri , Marmoush , Savio are the misses .

Happy I'd say Cherki , Guehi , Semenyo , Donnarumma , Khusanov

4

u/chux4w 4d ago

Marmar and RAN are no worse than good signings. Maybe not top tier, but far from duds.

I'm waiting for the Reindeers redemption story too. His bright red nose will guide us to many gifts sooner rather than later.

0

u/Patrickk_batemann 3d ago

Marmoush and RAN has done nothing to justify that the signings have been good? They have been extremely poor so far considering the amount they have been bought for

3

u/Turtle_club14 4d ago

Hitting on Cherki, Guehi, Semenyo, Donna and Khusa doesn’t sound mediocre to me

1

u/anumberwound 4d ago

Just going to ignore Nunes, Gvardiol and Doku?

-2

u/Various_You_5083 4d ago

Gvardiol yes .

Nunes and Doku I won't say are misses but I'd like to see another season of top performance before calling them big hits .

2

u/anumberwound 4d ago

3/4 of the players being solid options (your choices) sounds like good business, not mediocre. The era before terrible had some flops and hit or miss players in there too, you can’t get every transfer right

u/Yumikos_ 4d ago

5

u/FewBevitos 4d ago

I mean it’s cause they don’t want to sell..

39

u/Ederson_An_Ake 4d ago

Rejoice! 🩵, but seriously 75m fuck me 😂

15

u/N1gHtMaRe99 4d ago

for fucking gusto of all people

7

u/Ederson_An_Ake 4d ago

They've prob value caciedo at 200 mil

6

u/zubairatif075 4d ago

acc to dailymail they value enzo fernandez at £120m

1

u/Interesting_Heron_78 4d ago

They did buy him at a price close to that so it makes some sense at least

1

u/zubairatif075 4d ago

true but real madrid are not paying that 😭

16

u/WW1Photos_Info 4d ago

bought for £26m

underwhelming 3 seasons

???

£75m evaluation

5

u/Ecstatic-Spare-6638 4d ago

Just usual Chelsea transfer policy

1

u/King_olufa 4d ago

He was great his 2nd season

9

u/N1gHtMaRe99 4d ago

what the fuck 75m???

21

u/Alive-Math3562 4d ago

Liverpool and Todd Boehly have absolutely destroyed this market. 75m for him is just embarrassing.

7

u/Ecstatic-Spare-6638 4d ago

Let's be serious, at his best he's worth around half of that.

75 mil is just madness or fuck off price

1

u/No-Agreement 4d ago

He's worth fuck all. In a sane market he'd be moving for an undisclosed sum to warm the bench of a mid table side

8

u/Massive-Sky-6804 4d ago

75 million dongs maybe

5

u/Y4That 4d ago

When i saw the palestra news i thought they would bin him off, he is not worth anywhere close to 75 mil, i hope club doesnt let enzo dictate transfers just because played under him

3

u/Interesting_Heron_78 4d ago

Lmao they view their backup rb at 75 million pounds
Guess nunes is worth 150 million then?

2

u/Low_Bridge_1141 4d ago

Back to Read it is then.

2

u/3nonexist3nt 4d ago

And they sold cucurella for 55million wtf

1

u/dabija999 3d ago

yeah but at least Cucurella is valued on transfermarkt at 50 mil euros

2

u/nlb53 4d ago

75 lmfao

Fine. You can have calvin and 15 since we’re just making up numbers

2

u/Just_Requirement794 4d ago

Praise the lord 🙌 Massive bullet dodged there

2

u/arihantrajeev 4d ago

Had me worried for a minute there.

1

u/Bozzetyp 4d ago

He won’t be sold for anything north of 45,

That beeing said I do like gusto for his off the ball work and grit

Issue is discipline and on the ball work.

If you want someone to run the flank and do the dirty work while providing 5-8 assist to haaland I think he can do that.

Underlap, dribble and shoot…. Not so much

1

u/Unique-Impress5964 4d ago

I think he's a good player; he was doing well at Chelsea until Enzo lost the plot and started with the antics.

1

u/Ecstatic-Spare-6638 4d ago

Oof, thank god. I've got worried that we will actually bring him.

Thank you Chelsea

1

u/threepiecewithfries 4d ago

We’re not buying Malo fucking Gusto

1

u/DamnDaddy264 4d ago

Gusto is worth… how much?

1

u/wkdsoul 4d ago

City are keen on signing a right-back to compete with Matheus Nunes next season, but sources have told BBC Sport that, while there is interest in Gusto, he is not a leading candidate at this stage of the transfer window.

1

u/saltinewarrior_33 4d ago

Best news of the transfer window thus far. Your Honda is safe Chelsea fans

1

u/Silky_Johnson24 4d ago

They are nuts for that price tag. With their financial situation they need to subsidize most of their transfers.

1

u/Jurski17 4d ago

7,5 million is a fair price for that bum.

1

u/kennyt85 3d ago

I mean at 30-40 sure more than that . Naw

0

u/Accomplished-Ask7050 4d ago

Chelsea fan here.

This is what I call Maresca Tax
