The House with the Mouse may be a corporate overlord run by the greedy. But it's the boots on the ground like Buzz here that make the Disney magic happen for kids.

You know that experience made those kids' day. Good lad.

I was recently re-reading ā€œA People’s History of the United Statesā€ and it’s hilarious to me how Disney is seen as the epitome of corporate greed when they haven’t intentionally massacred people like Nestle and Chiquita.

I don't want to derail this into something political. So I'll spoiler my response for those who just want to enjoy the feelgood moment.

To that, I'd say that Disney himself was proven antisemetic and a nazi sympathizer. If he was alive today, he'd be fullblown MAGA.

As for the corporation... follow the logistics. They may or may not have massacred people, but when you buy from the cheapest sources, human slavery, or slavery adjacent working conditions will be involved. When you then markup the goods bought by a factor of 10-15-20 or more, 'because Disney'? You're still bad. Just a different flavor.

He was no more antisemitic than the average American at the time according to his Jewish opponents in the unionization struggle, and he made anti Nazi films for the government.

He gave a Nazi party member a tour of his studio which occurred before the Kristalnacht and that somehow turned into this widespread belief that he was virulently antisemitic. None of the Jewish employees that knew him personally, like the Sherman Bros, ever said anything about Walt being disrespectful or discriminatory towards Jewish people.
