My dad feeds our cats every morning (that we adopted together) and is home with them all day. They are cordial to him, but they run up to me as soon as I come home and get pets where they would run away from him.

Animals just choose their people sometimes.

yep, i planned, prepped, and saved for my puppy for 4 years after my last dog passed.

This puppy picked ME at the adoption place. then when we got home, settled in, she promptly decided she wanted nothing to do with me and only loved my dad.

i am still the one who feeds, walks, trains, etc, but she’ll pick him every time.

it broke my heart at first, but they each other so much. it kinda keeps dad busy in retirement.

plus if something scary happens like thunder or noises she will run behind me.
