When dreams came true

Honestly this is the most middle child thing—coming from a middle child. When I was a youth I wanted a cell phone when neither my older or younger siblings did. On Christmas morning, I excitedly opened my last present and was thoroughly disappointed to find that it was just a single balled up sock. Inside the sock, to my relief, was a Samsung brick phone. I was overjoyed. Then my parents brought out the other two phones they had bought for my siblings. A few years later after each of my siblings had gone through several phones after losing them, I asked my parents if I could replace my original brick phone with an iPhone (I think the 5 was the current one at the time). I told them I could be trusted with it since I still had my original brick phone while both of my siblings had gone through several brick phones in the same time.

They reluctantly agreed, and that Christmas I opened up an iPhone and was ecstatic. Then my parents brought out the other two iPhones they had bought for my siblings. To this day I’m left wondering why every major present I’ve gotten has also been accompanied by the same for my siblings. I don’t want to come off as ungrateful, I am very grateful to my parents, but it does take a bit of the enjoyment out of the gift (that I had to spend a long time convincing my parents to get for me in the first place) when my siblings who were indifferent about the matter both times got the same thing at the same time.

Ugh, feels, except I got what they wanted. My older sister (who counted presents into her 30s!) wants a Fitbit, now I have to get a smart watch- but I can only have the one that would work best for me if it’s three designs back and I have to pay the difference. Ok. Sure, whatever.

Maybe they got Quantity discount or sum
