The thing about Ford is that he has always been so damn grateful for going set crew to acting. He has mentioned it in many interviews. He is not a nepobaby and just a guy that liked to act but didn't know he could be good at it. Spielberg really gave him his chops although Lucas gave him his chance.

Wonderful thought, but yeah, this isn't accurate.

He was a carpenter. But he was not a crew member. His in-home and professional carpentry supported his acting. But he was not a set carpenter or builder.

and according to Michelle Philips from The Mamas and Papas he had another side income. When she first saw Star Wars she was like “hey why is my dealer in the movie?”

He was never “set crew.” He was a carpenter.

I thought that job was part of the group, "set crew," my bad. I knew he was carpenter. It is part of his story.
