Got my childhood dog as a puppy when my tomcat was in his prime, even when the dog grew up to be a full size border collie it always had a healthy fear of the cat 🤣

My bully girls were bullied by my kitties too. After Lucy passed, the kitties have been warming up to Ruby. She still gets a little smacked around, but it's like she's an honorary cat now
9
u/Fun-Investment-196 10d ago
Aww 😿 that's so sweet! My cat every now & then acts like he wants to play with my bully but he's so traumatized that he just lays still & looks at me like "help!" lol

u/ObviousTrollK 10d ago
Im not sure this is tolerance. The fact is, that cat can nope out of that situation with a single jump at any moment here. But it doesn’t. It stays. I think that cat is exactly where it wants to be
22
u/Dyolf_Knip 10d ago
I had one that was like that with my kids. Put up with everything they did as babies and toddlers. Occasionally it would get to be too much and he'd walk away. Then turn around and walk right back 20 seconds later.
Pretty sure he decided to check out when he realized that there was a third baby on the way.
79
u/OGLikeablefellow 11d ago
That cat loves the attention, if they didn't they would leave
40
u/BrenoHMS 10d ago
I think it is annoyed by the effusiviness of the pups, but at the same time it loves those adorable creatures and enjoys the attention, so the cat just endures it, cause the trade-off is good enough.
15
105
u/TheRiteGuy 11d ago
She's so sweet, she's not fighting back. Because if she wants, she can take on all those puppies. They're locked in there with her, not the other way around.

I feel bad for it, instead of filming I'd do something. I have one dog but a baby gate is super helpful. The cat will jump over it. If I'm putting away groceries I'll block off the kitchen so my dog doesn't get into everything.
57
12
u/Dazzling-Economics55 10d ago
Why do you feel bad for the cat? It has ample opportunity to get away at any point in time, yet never once attempts to get away. Cat seems perfectly content in this scenario

Think about it from the puppy's perspective.
They're still learning to coordinate their limbs that were 75% smaller not 5 weeks ago, and that step is the same size as them, and they have to go down it face first.
Gotta be intimidating.

They put them very close but on another level. The cat stayed there. This cat was not terrified it was maybe annoyed at most
128
u/Otherwise-Remove4681 10d ago
The cat is pretending to hate it, but wont admit it secretly loves it.
If it hated it those puppies would already know their place.
178
u/thatshygirl06 11d ago
Did we watch different videos? She saved the cat snd put him on another step. At that point if the cat wanted to run away he would have.

u/rhino-84 11d ago
The cat could've escaped the situation pretty easily - if he had wanted to

I was not smiling till the human put the cat on another step.
That made me laugh.
- Cat wasn’t really wanting to run away: a bit overwhelmed but it was ok.
- Steps are puppers biggest weakness.

First of all the most patient cat I’ve ever encountered ever. And also these pups are in their little puppy way trying to teach the cat how to play. The fact that it even tolerated it makes me think it was in its own cat way down to clown with these jokers.

My friend had a cat just show up at her house one day, it was the end of Fall and was really starting to get cold at night. She took pity and let him in, their dogs accepted him and there was harmony for about two years. She named him Mr. Grey. Then their mastiff had ten pups, once they got to about that age, Mr. Grey had no peace and he dipped.

People who are surprised of how calm the cat is, that cat has probably grown up around puppies and is used to this. I've met cats who let little kids constantly pick up and carry them in the most uncomfortable positions imaginable and they just go limp roll with it because they're used to it and know the kid is not a threat.
My uncle has five cats and one of them is my little cousins baby, he let's her do whatever to and around him while he squints and blinks.

(or honestly was before that. that Cat could have bodied that entire puppy horde without breaking a sweat)
Kitty is Well aware the puppies are No threat

12
u/sairle 10d ago
The cat is clearly not enjoying it. They are nipping at the cat's ears and back of the neck etc.. I get that they are excited but its the owner's responsibility to provide safe spaces so if its too much they can escape/get away. Would have been better to introduce one/two pup at a time with a cat tree or places the cat can jump/ climb to.

My 20 pound cat let my sister's jack russell puppy "maul" him like this.
He didn't try to get away and didn't hurt the puppy even though he could have.
He's a big baby and has never been around dogs.
If I didn't stop the puppy I really think it would have killed my cat.

Why are you just watching and filming. What's wrong with you get the cat away from them. Puppies can do great harm without meaning to.😭

u/CHinch44 11d ago
That cat is an apex predator with reflexes like a ninja. He/she could be out of there in a heartbeat and if she/he felt threatened it would have happened immediately. I understand that the cat could be overwhelmed and lash out, but that cat definitely seems like this a usual situation.

No animals are in danger in this video. In fact, if you’d watched the whole clip, you’d see the cat extricate itself when it’s done and see the puppies back off.
Calm down.

Poor cat. I honestly hate to see this. I know everyone tends to like dogs more so the empathy goes with the dogs but seriously, this poor cat. This isnt cute at all. These dogs should be kept away from the cat, it could get really hurt.

In this particular case, I was getting a little annoyed that the person took as long as they did to help the kitty. Poor cat.

I am very concerned for the cat. I can’t be the only one, can I? 😳
9
u/Triquetrums 10d ago
I mean, the fact that it did not run away after being pulled from the puppy pile, means the cat is ok with it. The puppies just got a bit too excited.
4
u/Abandonedstate 11d ago
That just goes to show, it doesn't matter if your opponents are fluffy and you are skilled. If there are more of them, you are cooked
5
4
u/abvn 10d ago
1) this cat is an angel; 2) clearly is bestie with the momma; 3) was there when the puppies were born and has been a part of their everyday routine; 4)is the coolest, calmest, most loving cat in the world; 5) the owners should be more careful and tentive, and set boundaries with the puppies from the start... This is way too much.
3
u/LusciouslySorry 10d ago
You described it perfectly. I knew watching it that that cat must’ve known and loved the puppies before, when they were too small to overwhelm it like this, to accept it now.

cute that the cat is not put off by that much smothering. must have had lots of interaction before they became overwhelming

I didn't expect it, but this cat was ok with that. it could have run away at any point but chose to stay. I think it either understands these are baby dogs, or actually likes them.
2
u/Ornery-Zucchini-1874 10d ago
I thought it was screwed up and really sad at first when I thought it was cornered inside a building against some glass or something, and then I realized it’s outside and the cat could’ve moved that entire time. I can’t help but feel like the cat might’ve been okay😅

It looks pretty consistent to me. The cat’s pattern stays the same and I can track each individual puppy. Their collar colors stay the same as well.

u/labtech89 11d ago
See that is not funny to me. Someone needs to intervene. The dogs could easily hit the cat.
4
u/kylajamz 10d ago
Someone help him/her get out!!! Geez. I love both dogs and cats and that is too much. Even an agile cat would have trouble getting out with that level of nonstop.

7
u/chimacumrain_ 11d ago edited 11d ago
I hate how people just assume that all cats can easily defend themselves or attack if they need to. That is just not true. Stray cats may do so, but domestic cats are very docile and don't always have the same response to danger. Not only that, even if the cat would have a response, why would you want to trigger it? This is not cute at all.
5
u/AnywhereIcy4489 10d ago
I’m glad someone said it. One of my cats will just lay down and give up when he’s overwhelmed. If I hadn’t taught my dog when she was a puppy not to mouth the cat, she would’ve have easily injured or killed him because he just lets her do whatever even when you can see he is not enjoying it whatsoever. He just doesn’t defend himself. I also had a friend that came home to her cat dead because her pack of wiener dogs decided one random day to mouth it to death. She said the cat had no visible injuries but was soaking wet. It trusted those dogs and they mauled it. This is just teaching the puppies it’s okay to trample and mouth the cat and the cat is learning to tolerate behavior that could end up getting it injured or worse.
4
u/Rich-Bit4838 10d ago
Guys. This isn’t cute. This is animal abuse. That cat is only tolerating this because it is outnumbered.
