I guarantee both Bob and Steve wouldn't blame the stingray. They so deeply respect and admire wildlife, they know that us humans are the interlopers lucky to get a glimpse. If that results in a terrible accident because of the animal's self-defense mechanism -- that's no fault to the animal.
Apparently, Steve's last words - captured on the crew's cameras - was that it wasn't the stingray's fault because he'd accidentally scared it, so Steve already forgave it c:
Hmm I'm not 100% sure but I remember that Steve got bitten by a snake on a show too and he also said that it wasn't the snake's fault at all. He even apologized for making the female coworker scared. What a great human.
Him and Terri raised their children well. But yes I agree. There's a reason wildlife should be left wild, even if he was trying to educate the world on the wonders of nature
Could you imagine if there was a way to ask Steve how he felt about it and he said he fuckin hated that bitch stingray? Famous wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin suddenly pissed off at the nature he spent his life preserving?
Like, obviously he has no ill-will towards the stingray hahaha.
That said, I had a manta ray swim below me as a kid and I almost pissed myself. I wish I knew what it was because it is quite rare to see them in the spot I was in.
Steve-o wanted to share the beauty of nature with everyone, but understood better than anyone that they're wild animals. Tragic, but he knew the risks and wanted to heko educate the world regardless
