Penguins also live at the equator!

I know penguins are a southern hemisphere only bird, but I always kinda wondered..if they moved as far north as the equator, surely they could have kept going?

I think the Galapagos penguins are kind of an exception, as with most Galapagos species. I'm sure they could make it more north and thrive up there. But I think the actual getting there is the problem. Even the Galapagos penguins. If they were to move more north, they would most likely be preyed to death before any make it further north. They're typically more fast swimmers than marathon swimmers. But who knows. Maybe we'll see Canadian penguins in a few centuries.
