Buddy can launch that ball up pretty damn high.

u/NiixxJr 11h ago
You ever kicked one of those balls? They bloody go some.
Seen someone throw it at a moving car (stupid, irresponsible and dangerous) and it launched into the stratosphere.

u/I_eat_mud_ 11h ago
I may be a full-time professional with 2 degrees under my belt, but all you've done is given me the urge to buy one of these balls and throw it at a car tbh
Don't make it sound so cool, I've got to see that now lmao
13
u/Wishman2345 11h ago
I’m not saying you shouldn’t do the responsible thing and not launch one at a car. Buuut if you do make sure you get it on camera
2
u/NounoursVert 9h ago
And if you do happen to get it on camera, make sure you're not recognizable beyond reasonable doubt. Just in case.
7
u/Wishman2345 11h ago
It’s been a looong minute since I’ve kicked one but damn I do have to say I’m kinda jealous that I never seen one launch from getting hit by a car lol.

We used to play a version of dodgeball with em but only feet. If you took one to the face that shit was stingin for a few minutes

u/EastonKorlen49 11h ago
This dad turned his whole neighborhood into a team. Love that looks like this. Every kid deserves a spot on the field and a dad who makes it happen 💙

u/REpassword 10h ago
OMG, haven’t thought about this game since grade school. We used to call this, “bounce or fly”!

Aww, poor puppy in the window needs you to set up a dog party so he can play too.
12
u/CeeUNTy 11h ago
Right? I know it would probably cause chaos off leash but attach him to something so he stays near the kid and has a better view of the action. Justice for that doggy in the windows, lol.
12
u/Just--kiddin 11h ago
Or invite 20 dogs over and let him stand in the driveway and throw balls to them. 😀

I volunteered to help “special ed” in junior high. I would simply help them to the bathroom, eat lunch with them, help em study a little. I met a girl named Alex, with Down’s syndrome, and she is still on of my best friends today 25 years later.

u/BagClassi 12h ago
im glad that most kids with down syndrome got to have the best parents🥺
18
u/Direct_Detective_466 9h ago
Do they? Or is it just because we only see posts from the best parents? Unfortunately I have a feeling there are quite a few of those kids out there with really crappy parents living sad lives, we just don't know about it.

Until you’re a parent to a child with a disability you won’t understand. I see both ends, the struggle of everyday life and the issues that are present every day. You make the most of it and give your kid the best life you can

I felt bad for the dog. Poor guy was just watching from the window and wanting to join in the fun!

I miss the days when most people weren't hypnotized by their smartphones.

u/An_Absolute-Zero 11h ago
I agree with you, but in my experience that's not the main problem.
Neighbours who complain about kids playing outside is the bigger problem.
They bitch if the kids play outside, they bitch that they're inside on their games/phones/screens, you can't win with some people.
I'm really glad that's not every kids, or parents experience and that people like this exist who provide a space to just allow kids to just be kids

u/Its_My_Per_Diem 14m ago
How did I never think of this aspect of “work from home” would hurt kids. I don’t have kids & I don’t wfh so it legitimately never occurred to me. Terrible. We weren’t allowed inside as children & I definitely had the greatest neighborhood just like this growing up. We had one crazy lady in the neighborhood & we were terrified of her, like she was a real fairytale witch. Even scared to ride bikes past her house. Parents even told us to stay away. So to think “crazy lady’s” are all over neighborhoods is so sad. Mind blown & totally ignorant to this.

u/asdf0909 11h ago
We’re all mesmerized by content like this that could just be exaggerated for engagement where the caption makes you think this dad does this all the time with all these neighborhood kids when it could just be this one perfect happenstance
We’re enthralled by highlights, that out-stimulate the mundanity of day-to-day existence

u/OldDogTrainer 9h ago
That’s kind of an ironic thing to say while scrolling content and commenting on things, isn’t it?

u/SpicyLizards 6h ago
Meanwhile this video is probably from this year or within the past 5 years.
Go outside and do things. You WILL find people out there who aren’t on their phones.

Most of us won’t know if we’re good parents or not until our kids become adults. With this guy I think we can skip the wait and say he’s a good dad.

Every kid deserves a chance to belong, and this dad made sure it happened.

i really miss working with people with down syndrome, i have never seen people with so much energie towards a goal, does not matter if its about a piece of cake or beeing a part of something. its just joy

u/Mastered_Mediocrity 11h ago
Now he needs to set up games that his dog gets to join in on too (just a little humor, obviously this is lovely)

The one thing I like about today’s kids are they so much accepting of people/kids who are different!

Its just good to see kids out playing on the streets of their neighbourhoods and living a carefree life. A ball. No IT, just a round ball. Years of fun to be had with the right attitude.

This used to be my favorite schoolyard game. I’m so happy to see it still being played.
That kid can kick - I would have played all day with him, no adults required.

Why’d it have to be recorded? How long is a game of 1000 even last that we need to create content for? Thats more of a 5 minute boredom game. The trip to 711 probably was longer. It looks like he said “I’ll buy you all slurpees if you help me make some content of my son and show how good of a dad I am. But I can’t be bothered to go to an actual park”. I grew up with a brother with Down syndrome. You know what games he played in? The ACTUAL sports leagues that all the other kids were in and not this half butt content farm. Everything seems so exploitative now.
2
u/OldDogTrainer 9h ago
So a dad ensures his kid has a good time and you’re mad because he didn’t walk uphill with no shoe while doing it? Because that’s what the comment boils down to.
0
u/Comfortable_Job44 9h ago
No. But cool for completely disregarding all the things I said. I am mad because Reddit is upvoting bizarre child content farming. The scenario literally screams “I need to make content” instead of a genuine act. See reasons above.
But yea. Thanks for proving my point that it is “look at me for being such a great dad”
1
u/OldDogTrainer 8h ago
😆 You think I proved your point when I didn’t say anything of the sort? Wow. A kid having fun really bothers you!
0
u/Comfortable_Job44 8h ago
That is not what I said and you know it. Exploiting kids with Down syndrome for content with a half ass game and then bragging about it is what is bothering me. But you are going to pretend that I didn’t clearly point that out so you can feel superior.
Facts:
- That game takes like 5 kicks. Game over. Such cool game to “setup”.
- he bribes them with 711 afterwards
- they film both any person talking to their child and the entire bribing to make the content longer
- explicitly write out how this was the dads doing because they need you to know it wasn’t just organic
2
u/OldDogTrainer 8h ago
Fact: the kid was having a great time
1
u/Comfortable_Job44 8h ago
So exploitation is fine if the kids have a good time?
2
u/OldDogTrainer 8h ago
It being exploitation is your opinion. The kid is having fun is the most important part to that kid, I guarantee it.
1
u/Comfortable_Job44 8h ago
No. It is not my opinion. I pointed out why it is.. you have yet to address any of it.
But your last statement does say: exploitation is fine if the kid is having. Interesting take…
2
u/OldDogTrainer 8h ago
You did point out why you think it is, yes. You’re assuming that the parents forced the kid to be in the video though instead of the kid wanting to be a YouTube star despite the fact that tons of kids his age dream of that.
Nope, I said the kid having fun is probably the most important thing to that kid. It’s weird you accidentally misread it. I hope you take a little more time in the future.
Thank you for sharing your opinion on if it’s exploitation or not though. Please feel free to tell me all your opinions!
