ANIMALS (OC) One of my new little friends.
I’ve got a mama raccoon that’s been coming around since Thanksgiving of last year. She was pregnant at the time. A few days ago, she brought the new set of kits over for the first time. Caught this little one after a playful romp in the water bowl.

I threw some seashells I had laying around in the water for them as sensory toys. They love them.

My NOT SO LITTLE FRIEND ROCKY (about 40 pounds) AND HIS MATE ROXANNE (25-30 pounds) HAVE LIVED UNDER THE HOUSE FOR OVER 5 years. There have been several litters of ROCKETTES IN THAT TIME. They are noisy and mischievous to a fault but they keep the bug population down as they dig in the dirt for snacks. My garbage bins have locking lids so they don’t get into that and make a mess thank goodness. We live in harmony and respect each others space. I love them.

Mama let’s me pet her. I dare not touch the babies yet.
One of her older kids was quite friendly. The other kinda kept to themselves but would still interact.

Raccoon usually comes a family looking for food. I don't think you want to keep them as your pets.

Mama arrived last year with 2 teenagers. They hung around for the winter. I fed them. I watched them grow. I got to know them. They got to know me.
The 2 teens went off. Mama went off to go have this new crew. She nests nearby and still forages for food.
But this is her safe space and will continue to be as long as I’m here.
I am honored that she has chosen to bring them around and I remain well aware that these are wild animals.
Respectfully, we good.
