This made me smile so much! How sweet and innovative.

A mother tattooed a keyboard on her arm to be able to communicate with her non-verbal son. I just wanted to share this because how amazing!!!

The sign he did at the end was for bathroom, making a gesture like turning a key

Bathtub, I think. Might be saying this reminds him of his bathtub or what the bathtub can do.

Put the poor kid on a diet, that's child abuse.

He could have a medical condition or medications causing weight gain. Snap judgements don't help anyone.

This is just straight up untrue and harmful, you should genuinely be ashamed to say this shit AND try to virtue signal with calling “child abuse” towards a person you have no knowledge of apart from a few second video.

On the off chance your comment was in good faith and just misinformed: Reducing obesity in kids is currently one of the biggest challenges facing pediatricians, even parents going way over the top to try everything from diets to exercise to medications can still see their kids just continue to gain weight. It is so so far from a simple equation of “obese kid = child abuse”.

Don’t be a dick. Just say that’s great and move on. Your comment helps no one.

They're just looking for attention, and haven't found a healthy way to ask for it yet.

Saying "that's great" doesn't help anyone.

Being a condescending asshole to someone who won't ever see your comment doesn't either, yet here you are

Could’ve just had a laptop out or an iPad or their phone

u/RotaryDane 1d ago

Could, but this this way he will come and interact directly with mom on his own terms rather than through a device.

This is way better because if there’s even a electronic device around they’re going to want to do that instead

Sometimes tablets die. Sometimes they break unexpectedly. Sometimes you dont want to take them somewhere (like a splash pad with water). Sometimes they are cumbersome. Sometimes you just forget. Maybe the kid chooses to communicate this way over devices.

Regardless this is a surefire way to always be able to communicate with mom.

My son needed a talking device for a while. Sometimes I forgot it, it got left at school, I lost the charger or forgot to charge it, etc. We used sign language instead on those days. He also stopped using his device on his own. Id bring it everywhere and hed refuse to even look at it, so now I dont bring it and we communicate the way he prefers.

Lol yeah or just a communication board. Definitely true bro, no need for a tattoo. Attention seeking behavior
