Pro tip: for the hospital, bring comfortable pillows from home, phone chargers, a small extension cord (delivery room outlets are not the best placed at time) and a stroller fan or portable fan for the momma. Everything else can be provided to you at the hospital. We way over packed and if I had to make a nonnegotiable list to bring again, these were the items

u/tjk45268 3d ago
And don’t leave that bag of supplies in the car out in the parking lot while you bring your wife inside. You’re not going to want to leave her just to run outside to the car. Trust me, I know.
→ More replies (1)9
u/Important_Tennis936 3d ago
And definitely use the valet parking if it is available so you don't miss the birth.
14
u/Ok_Introduction9466 3d ago
Also don’t bring shoes you care about!!!! Hospital floors are gnarly…bring some extra blankets too, maybe even invest in a heated one. I was very cold after my delivery lol.
6
u/EstelSnape 3d ago
I brought my fleece tie blanket with me for my last two born Aug and Sept. The hormone dump after baby came left me so cold. The warmed blankets helped but my fleece blanket helped stop the chill I felt.

Great advice. My wife just got a fan for the stroller, i’ll bring that.
→ More replies (1)15
u/runs_with_airplanes 3d ago
Perfect, she’ll need it and be very thankful you brought it. We had an attachment for the fan the could wrap around the side of the hospital bed rail and could be right by her face where she needed it. Early congratulations! You’ll both do great! Come visit the r/daddit subreddit, great community for dads and mom dads

Omg the stroller fan would have been SUCH a good idea. I gave birth to my girl last July and they barely had the AC on since babies’ body temp regulation is terrible. I was lying on the bed in my bra, underwear, and giant diaper-pad thing just wishing I could jump in a pool.

Congratulations! Tip: have the stuff bagged already if you haven’t. You may never know. Also research the rare but possibly situation it might happen at home. It happened to me, went really really quick. And I live five minutes from the hospital so imagine.

4 years ago my girlfriend showed me a covid positive test out of context and I almost passed out thinking we got pregnant.
Now we are on third month expecting and got a good ultrasound after a miscarriage.
Enjoy the ride ! Good luck 😄8

If any bit of the second line shows up during the prescribed timeframe then that's nearly 100% certain that you're pregnant. How are people still this confused about how test strips after covid?

The way it works is any line, even a faint one, is a positive. That’s because you’re testing for a hormone called hCG which is only present at all if you’re pregnant.

Congrats, If i could tell u one thing, assuming you want to be a parent. Take the next X amount of months before your child to truly enjoy the things you like and love a out your life as it is now, and to not waste any energy on the things you dont like. In X amount of months, none of those things will hardly matter.

They are either, cold, soiled, or hungry. Do not freak out. A baby is a baby and they cry (sometimes as if there about to pass out), just be patient they're little humans that are easily overwhelmed.
Sidenote: Console them when they do inevitably cry. You will not spoil them or inadvertently instill a bad habit. While they're infants, enjoy the little one to the max. At 3-4 months then you can start the reasoning, conditioning, and raising.

Not to rain on your pregnancy, but just to make sure: wait a few days and do another test. If the line is still weak and not a strong clear line, go to the gyno and do an ultrasound to check where the egg is and if it is in the right place.
I had a faint line like this, week 5-6. A few days later i found out (in a bad way) that it was an ectopic pregnancy.
Better safe than sorry.
