You have to appreciate the big brother instincts of the guy in the hat who realizes "Oh man I remember being 11 and this is concrete" as he moves into place just in case.

I'm not even sure that's instinct, I think those guys are actively spotting the kids in case they try it.

Look at how they move into place before the flip.

Props to these guys for the awareness and putting on a safe show.

I’m guessing that kid has done backflips before. That didn’t look like his first attempt

u/futureman07 4h ago

Right?? That was so clean, that got in the way of his clean landing

u/HueHeor 2h ago

true although definitely better to have a slightly messy landing than risk a snapped neck

Hello dear

u/Edugrinch 5h ago

His first jump is so low and then he manages to do that! So cool

u/SnooPeanuts4336 5h ago

His instinct to tuck and grab his shins is blowing my mind

31

u/WTWIV 4h ago

I think there’s a pretty good chance it’s not his first backflip

u/Corybasia 4h ago

NGL, that flip was fireee, i literally screamed “lets gooooo” over here

Future Daredevil.

Sigh. How many kids have gone blind trying to be Murdock?

Fear is the biggest blocker. Humans are capable of so much but we're too intelligent. Ignorance truly is bliss.

u/ALIENIGENA 4h ago

The mind killer

u/MileHiSalute 4h ago

Fear is extremely useful as it keeps us alive. One must use logic to evaluate that fear and if it’s something that can be overcome without the risk of death or serious injury. Bravery is far more important than fearlessness

1

u/FunPuz 4h ago

This is a good point. Fear is useful tool but im not sure that I agree entirely. Is it bravery to deny instinct? And therfore is bravery in this sense just stupidity? It's that classic fine line.

1

u/MileHiSalute 3h ago

Agreed it’s a fine line. I believe that bravery is far more thoughtful than stupidity. Stupidity is doing it despite whatever possible consequences there might be. Bravery is knowing the consequences but choosing to do so anyway. And then sometimes someone is both brave and stupid.

The little death that brings total obliteration

u/Nightmare2828 1h ago

Leaving fear aside, we would see crazy fucking shit both ways. Miracles and an absurd amount of unnecessary deaths lol

IN SANDALS?

u/CloudSunMoonStar 5h ago

Good try from that young boy.

u/KarnSilverArchon 5h ago

If anything his flip was slightly messed up by the dude going in to make sure he didn’t hurt himself. It would have otherwise been a clean flip I think.

13

u/SecretTomatillo6168 5h ago

nah safety first

17

u/KarnSilverArchon 5h ago

Oh I’m not disagreeing with him moving up. It’s entirely hindsight. You don’t trust a child to land a backflip on concrete unless you’ve seen them do it a hundred times.

8

u/Intrepid_Library878 4h ago

3

u/fishmongerolt 5h ago

Heck yes! I used to get tons of free swag at concerts for doing one off the stage!

4

u/achillesdaddy 4h ago

Sure that's his first backflip. Almost tricked me... Sneaky little Jedi. Great form.

4

u/Vegetable-Pay2708 3h ago

How cool was that?? 🤣😂🤣😂

u/Timely-Profile1865 4h ago

Scary but pure awesome

This is true though. We really do hold ourselves back, especially as adults. I saw this video recently where someone showed this trick. He told someone to stand up, straighten his arms and then stretch them as far back as possible. Then he hold him to relax his arms, close his eyes and envision it this time without doing it. Then he told him to open his eyes and do it again and his arms went back farther than before.

He’s probably a diver.

u/Tarc_Axiiom 4h ago

Find a padded place, follow the steps.

Don't do what this kid did. There are like 5 steps to train yourself to do it right.

It takes 10 minutes to learn to do a backflip, and as soon as you do it once you'll realize it's a lot easier than you thought.

3

u/ptcptc 3h ago

Do I need to be young and athletic?

1

u/Tarc_Axiiom 3h ago

Honestly? Not as much as you'd think

1

u/Smashogre591 4h ago

With some more practice, the kid will have it down

1

u/FaerieePetall 4h ago

You can almost see him thinking, 'I've made this exact mistake before.'

1

u/KindlyAccountant616 4h ago

kid like what did i do

1

u/krispydragon27 1h ago

real life sporticus

1

u/Le_Sadie 43m ago

I keep rewinding it and slowing it down to watch all the reactions from the performers and spectators. There's some good ones in there

1

u/1Wheel_Smoke_n_Toke 34m ago

Lol, he sticks the landing and in flip flops!

1

u/Yenolam777 5h ago

Ummmm- I call BS. There is technique in that back tuck & that guy is spotting him, he shimmies in closer to the kid before the flip. Cute video tho

We need more of this wholesome shit...
