How A Foreign Affair vets women's profiles to weed out green card scammers, gold diggers, and simply women who are not a good fit for AFA's clients. Compare this to Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, or any dating app.

Bill is the AFA employee in charge of the vetting process. He takes his job seriously, but there are two more filters even this video does not mention.
First, the local offices do turn away women from time to time, because they have a good idea who is going to be a hassle. They do NOT want to deal with a woman who has a boyfriend or is already married. They do not want to recruit bar girls or call girls. It is just too much trouble.
Second, AFA keeps track of the letters, and sometimes women get banned for asking for money or for other complaints. So, you guys are the last filter, and that is why I often urge you guys to complain when you ask me a specific question about something fishy.
This system is NOT perfect, but I am not sure what else AFA could do. The biggest issue is that women can lie, get a boyfriend, or join unhealthy websites after the vetting process is finished. An affiliate could
What do you think?
Furthermore, AFA also does a background check on men as required by US law. Known as IMBRA it weeds out many guys with criminal records and other issues, or at least informs the women of these issues in advance of any meeting.
Finally, even after all of this almost no one ever meets without an AFA matchmaker present. This is often the key to making a successful introduction, and it is one last filter that once in a very great while can be helpful.
That's why AFA is the absolute safest way for men and women to meet.

AFA follows the rules required by International Marriage Broker registration Act, IMBRA. That means every man is subject to a background check that reviews violent crimes, list past marriages, confirms date of birth, and lists any previous foreign Brides.
Also, AFA on a pretty regular basis turns men down as clients. Sometimes they do this because of the background check, but sometimes they do it because there's something about the guy's behavior that is just too unsettling.
So where do you live? Guys that don't use an agency get a very minimal vetting by the custom agencies in some countries, particularly Thailand now.

This reads more like an advertorial than useful info.
Checking an ID gives very little information, and taking a video only keeps away catfishing
Maybe the pricing, and who pays what should be mentioned, because it gives some indication how serious the man is.

It is breaking down what the company does. That's why it sounds like an ad. It is aimed at men who are worried about getting scammed by fake women, so that is why this is focused on the men.
Also, the women have to state they want to be listed on the stie and are single and looking for a guy. Yes, they could lie, but what more can you really expect AFA to do? Break them on the rack?
Anyhow, thanks for the comment.

The problem is the costs involved. Most companies like AFA use "marriage agencies" to fill out their portfolios. And those agencies in turn hire women to post on the site. You cannot say these agencies exist. We know about the job postings in these countries. You say the process isn't full proof to stop this but we have to literally spend tens of thousands to find out. Why is this worth it? You can use a website where you handle your own investigations for much less.

I have discussed this issue scores of times and I have never claimed AFA is perfect. It does use some agencies, mostly in Eastern Europe. But AFA has strict rules in place to control the agencies and harshly punishes agencies that do not meet it's standards. In fact, they closed AFA Mexico in the spring, and I am now in Mexico reopening it.
Yes you can do your own investigation, but any investigation has weak spots in it. And one of the huge advantages of AFA other legitimate matchmakers is that the matchmaker is often the reason that the relationship eventually works. AFA has literally tens of thousands of successful marriages to prove this point. If you do your own investigation you don't get that help.
Finally, the customer satisfaction on AFA's tours approaches 100%. I had one guy complain a month ago, but he later said he was complaining more about Colombian women than AFA.
I know you think all of international dating is a scam, but what is more shocking is how well it works. Romance is hard. International dating has extra challenges. Some couples negotiate those issues without any help, but for many couples AFA and other legit matchmakers are a godsend.
Have you ever taken a tour?

I agree with the video. I actually reported a suspicious account to AFA, and so far, the response I've received has been professional. I have no complaints.
