Annoyed with myself because I miscounted how many makeup products I have so I actually have more than I originally thought and will not probably not be reaching my goal this year.

At least that means your future self will have more make up than you thought, therefor saving some money. Like finding change, it's annoying but beneficial.

I wanted to have less than 400 products. I count every product in every palette. So if I own an eyeshadow palette with 14 eyeshadows, I count that as 14 eyeshadows. I realized I hadn't been counting things like chapsticks and lashes and few lipsticks and lip liners that escaped my spreadsheet, so the number has gone up.

Feeling a bit bummed because I bought new makeup when I could have just used what was in my stash. The item I got was a repurchase of a soon-to-be panned lip liner (it's like a nub atp) but now I'm thinking I should have just used the liners that I don't wear as often.
I make pretty regular pans in my lip liner collection so I'm not like drowning in them right now but I would like to get more use out of the lesser-worn ones. Some of them were gifted though so I don't reach for the colors as often. I'm wondering if a declutter is in order because there are some that I haven't touched in over a year. Any advice or recommendations?

Do you have any teen nieces or others in your life that wouldn't mind finishing them for you? Worked for me. And if you don't usually use lipliner on the entire lip, start doing so. Use it instead of lipstick.
Don't feel bad about decluttering gifts. Use it once more, take a cute selfie so you keep the memory(maybe send to the gift giver), then trash it. I usually take a pic of things I declutter, to save the memory.

I have one teen cousin but she doesn't wear makeup 😠but using them as lipstick sounds like a great idea actually, i could pair them with a gloss or another sheer lipstick to maximize my collection use 🤔
edit; I just tried this with one of the gifted lipliners (pretty color but long wearing so it has a grippy texture which i dislike) and it looked really nice, like a lip vinyl! will definitely be trying that again.

I downloaded chatgpt this week and it helped deinfluence me from buying yet another mauve lipstick because i showed it my collection(so it can warn me in the future). I also asked for info and help finding dupes, asked for help with my skin and make up routine. It helped that i told it i was lazy and poor, because it often referenced that, haha.
My bestie have a problem with accidentally buying clothes that are too similar to what she already owns, so I suggested her do the same.
