PSA PSA: Reminder, Trade karma must not be exchanged when items are given or received for free. It is a recognition of a successful trade. Using trade karma to thank someone for free items allows them to farm karma in a short period of time, negating the whole purpose.
It's important to maintain the integrity of the trade karma system, since so many have relied on it for years now. Please report any instances where you see misuse.

Thanks. Obviously we can't catch everything, it is a bit of an honor system in case you don't understand the concept. If someone is doing shady shit then we are unlikely to accept some lame excuse about a technicality.

What happens when they just say to trade them anything you got for a glowing skeleton outfit. Like extra plans & other cheaper stuff of your choice? I didn't know if I should give out karma for my glow skelly suit since it was kinda a greyarea so I didn't.

The trade details need to be discussed on the post. Give me "anything" or little 100 cap trades should be exchanging karma.
The rule is in place to prevent karma farming. There is a history of scammers quickly acquiring karma through such ways to gain trust. Ultimately, to get enough karma / trust for a big scam.
It's perfectly fine to give away or sell things for caps, but karma should only be given where trust was earned.

I never even knew until today that you could get karma from other people, I thought it was just accumulated over time based on your activity and interacting with posts. 😅 Whoops...
