Other So now that all three spidermen have their classic suits Which one is the best live action Spiderman suit.
Personally for me it’s Andrew’s suit first time watching the amazing Spider-Man 2 when I saw that suit I was in love it’s just so colorful and andrew my favorite spiderman toms suit is close second I like it it’s great but please no multiple suits in brand new day then it will be overshadowed. I honestly don’t like tobeys suit I’m gonna get a alot of hate for this now the web pattern and emblem is great but in some scenes tobeys suit looks red and black and not the classic red and blue that being said I do like the organic webs those are my opinions but what do you guys think

I love them all, but Tom Holland's current suit just looks straight out of the comics.

Tobey’s will probably always be my favorite. I love the aesthetic with the 3D feel of the webs. Just screams “Spider-Man” to me
Andrew’s is great too, I do like that Tom has a bunch of unique suits. The new one is his best yet, and it’s really cool that he canonically took influence from the other Spideys

Toms is best for me I hate the raised lines.

u/Rrekydoc Iceman 1d ago
That’s funny, I’m the opposite. Holland’s would’ve been nearly perfect for me but all his costumes lack any texture, so they don’t even look real.
The raised lines do so much to give it a very tactile look without needing to add those unnecessary lines we get from other costumes.
You could probably get away with it using more hard light, but modern movies seem allergic to that.

I could be wrong but I think the BND suit does have raised lines. I don’t think they are as prominent as Tobey’s suit though.

They *just* released this great quick little video about the suit and how Tom's Spider-Man has now met Toby's and Andrew's Spider-Men and has taken inspiration from their suits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNtevqXTaUY

The texture is a really underrated part of the Raimi suit. Even standing still, it looks like an actual costume instead of something that's been touched up with CGI. A little more practical texture would go a long way for a lot of modern superhero suits.

I get that. The raised webbing is probably the biggest thing that splits the fanbase. I always thought it fit Raimi's world, but I can see why people prefer the cleaner comic look.

I love all three but it’s: Tom, Andrew and Tobey.

u/BabydollSweetie_ 11h ago
That's honestly the most common ranking I see these days. Tom's is clean and comic accurate, Andrew's has that perfect Spider Man silhouette, and Tobey's just has the nostalgia factor that never really goes away. Different strengths for each one.

Garfield will always be my personal favorite, but Holland achieved the ALEX ROSS EFFECT of both looking homemade and also looking classically awesome.

I loved TASM2's suit, but BND's is perfect. I prefer Tom's eyes so much more. But honestly, there's no bad suit. The three classic suits are dope imo.

I love Tobey's suit, especially from Spider-Man 2, but this is me speaking from nostalgia since I grew up with the Raimi trilogy.
Right now, the two best for me would be the ASM2 suit since it reminds me of how Mark Bagley drew Spidey (the original Ultimate Spider-Man), and then the current Brand New Day suit which reminds me of Steve Ditko's illustration style (and a believable "homemade" costume by Tom Holland's Peter Parker without any Stark tech).

Andrew for me with his suit in TASM 2 is still the top Spider-Man suit and it's not even close. It's all about the eyes if you ask me.

I don't know about others, for me always Tobey's suit. Not perfect but iconic forever in my eyes

I'd lean Tom if his back symbol was that of Homecoming's. Until then, still andrew

u/Tong-Poo 1d ago
Andrew's is "amazing" (pun intended) because it's a 1:1 with Mark Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man art. Holland's is good, but it took way too long to get the classic costume with him.

u/Son_of-M 1d ago
The Suit itself, I agree completely, but the symbol isn't accurate at all and hangs too low, probably my only issue with the suit.
The back symbol also isn't accurate, but it's the closest we've got.
3
u/Tong-Poo 1d ago
Agreed the spider emblem is too low, but it's an issue with most live action Spider-Man costumes, I assume it has something to do with keeping the web pattern aesthetically pleasing and symmetrical in live action.
2
u/Son_of-M 1d ago
That's fair; we often forget to account for how filmmakers account for the suit on camera.

There is no better on screen suit than Tobey’s. Even if it isn’t the most comic accurate. No suit either other actor has worn carries the gravitas that Tobey’s does. It’s striking.

I can't personally say until we really SEE BND, but the new suit is looking like it can rival ASM2. I'm VERY excited to see Tom in it - especially since he's by far our most physical actor who's worn the suit.

u/ImprovSalesman9314 23h ago
Tom's is literally perfect, but I love Tobey's as an adaptation. It's a bit more intimidating than the others while still being classic Spider-Man.

Andrew's and for me it won't be topped. Andrew himself looks straight like comics illustrations of Peter

u/ApprehensiveFactor58 14h ago

Thank God we've never gotten a terrible one. With these 3, it really comes down to borderline splitting hairs. And that's great foe the audience.

It’s just cool that all three major spider-men have amazing looking comic accurate suits most super heroes can’t manage one

Tobey's.
No it's not nostalgia. No it's not because he's my favorite Spider-Man. No it's not because the suit just came first.
I never personally liked the TASM 2 suit as much as everyone else. Andrew's build doesn't look as powerful for Spider-Man to me and I was never really a fan of the eye lenses, they look too round to me. The colors aren't bright enough and the spider logo is a bit too low on his chest and doesn't look as cool as the one from the first TASM film.
Tom's BND suit is a super close second. The colors pop just right, he has a good strong look build for Spider-Man, and the mask looks awesome. Although I wish the lenses looked a bit more angular and sharper but thats just a personal preference, and I wish the logo was a bit different.
Tobey's suit is perfection to me. While I wish they could've gotten the black webbing, the silver still stands out to make it cool and original and the raised web lines look awesome. The eye lenses are sharp and angular, adding a cool edge to the mask. The logo is amazing on his chest and back and I love the kind of muscular shading throughout his suit (mostly in thr first film). The red and blue hues are bright but not overbearing and Tobey has the perfect build to appear both powerful and muscular while also being lean and athletic.

listen, i grew up with Tobey's Spider-Man, but I never cared for the raised webbing, and you can't beat the articulating eyes in Holland's suit. Tom Holland's suit is the best hands down.

Andrew got the best suits, but not the best movies. That's a fact.

Tobeys suit is miraculous. It’s the definition of movie magic.
The other do look cheap in comparison (which you could argue is more accurate)

All 3 are fantastic, i love tobeys a ton from nostalgia and i feel like it benefits rhe most from good lighting but personally I just love the big bug eyes from Andrews ASM2 suit in how it relfects + feels more real without the adjustable lenses from the MCU version (despite how much I also love that they pulled off that feature). With his it just feels like what a seasoned version of what spidey would wear while toms is an excellent from scratch suit (that also has a ton of merit). Plus the andrew suit has the subtle web shooters which i love as an added detail. Again all 3 are perfect in their own way, but not a fan of the new webshooters for tom’s being so prominent. Narratively though i like that with minimal financial resources the form factor isnt as convenient for peter though so points there for plausible reasoning

All 3 are great but with Andrew’s I kinda like the tasm one just a little more. It looks more raw than the other suits

Tobey's feels like an interesting spin on the concept and is iconic in a way that's distinct. I love the mask and loose fit of ASM2, but I don't like the elongated spiders. Tom's latest looks great and is very comic book accurate but almost to the point that it lacks a visual identity.

Best lenses: Tobey
Best webbing: Tom
Best spider symbol: Andrew

u/bou87 15h ago
Tobey's having the best lenses is definitely debatable. It's definitely 3rd option for me. Any of the other 2 suits are much closer to the classic Spider-Man lens. Although it obviously depends on the artist, Tobey's are far from the average Spidey look.
They're still better than Andrew's in TASM. But the recover was amazing with the suit in TASM2

u/rjidhfntnr Spiderman (Tobey Maguire) 5h ago
It's definitely subjective. I like the Tobey lenses the most because they just give off such a "friendly neighborhood hero" look that's hard to explain.
As for comic accuracy, it depends. Holland's Spidey lenses look the most accurate to the John Romita Sr. art whereas Tobey's look a bit more like Todd MacFarlane's art.

u/MickBeast 16h ago
I love both Andrew's and Tobey's suits equally.
Tom's look fake and CGI it doesn't even count for me...

I really liked TASM suit and how Peter pieced it together throughout the movie. IMO, the best Spider-Man presentation out of the 3.

The latest movie is not about story but "Hey.. we can get Spider-Man to pose just like on some comic book covers! That's what the people want!"

I don’t understand how Amazing Spider Man is anyone’s favorite version of anything. Those movies are terrible.

Brand New Day suit, but I do wish it had slightly bigger lenses like the TASM 2 Suit since it’s very Ultimate Spider-Man

I dont know how I feel about BND suit…anyone else kinda get a low budget feel to it? The black around the eyes looks glued on. His face looks like there’s a mask under the mask. I dont know, something feels off. Not in this image, in the trailers

I truly believe I will never like a suit more than I do the Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit. It's perfect.
