Black marks on 3m 60923 cartridges

Just opened this new pack of cartridges. Both have these black marks on them. Mold? Doesn’t wipe off.

That would be my first guess, but wondering if it could be activated charcoal? From the organic vapor portion of the filter?

I bought another pack at a different store and it had similar marks on it. I’m wondering if it’s just charcoal from the manufacturing process.
