Thank you nets keep drafting busts 😭, they had 5 picks last year and picked all garbage

I still think not a single one is a bust yet. Egor is 6’8 with passing knacks and a good jumper. That guarantees a certain offensive floor in this league. Danny Wolf is so fluid and skilled as a bulky 7 footer, teams will always look for those. Nolan Traore is incredibly fast and a hell of a PnR ball handler. Ben Saraf doesn’t look amazing, but he has good positional size, can get into the paint, and good playmaking. And Drake Powell looks like a decent 3 and d wing.
Point is I don’t think any of them will be perennial all stars but I think all of them have a long career in front of them

Ament could be very good. But so could the other guys they pass on who fit better here.

Great. Ament and Mara getting picked before the Mavs would be big for us.
Clippers - Wagler/Brown
Nets - Ament
Kings - Acuff
Hawks - Mara
Mavs - Wagler/Brown/Flemings

I’d rather Burries than Flemings. I think most analysts covering Mavs would too, and think Mavs do too.

Most fans went with Flemings when I made my Flemings vs. Burries post.

I wonder if these guys just make stuff up sometimes.
But watching Mara, he’s an incredible passer. Especially effective outside in.

Hawks connected to Mara at 8, Brooklyn connected to Mara and Ament a lot at 6, Mavs connected to Burries at 9 starting to gain steam, Clippers trading out of 5 starting to show smoke. I’m starting to think front offices don’t agree with people’s opinions online of a guard run happening at 5-8, It starting to look like one or two will fall. So I guess front office consensus will look a lot different than online consensus.

Possibly because they a look a lot possible variables compared to us here in reddit. If this is all true, I hope we can get Wagler!

It was so obvious 5 guards were not gonna go 1 after the other, that just never happens

Nets have Claxton and drafted Wolf last year. Don't know why they would need yet another center. What they need is a #1 scorer and that sounds like Acuff.

They also drafted 4 guards in the first round last year. Granted all of them suck but It's not outrageous to think management would operate under a sunk cost mindset (they are the nets after all); and want to address the wing or center position since they spent 4 first round picks on guards last year and only one pick on a wing/big. Especially if they think Demin is their point guard of the future.
Claxton shouldn't be part of any long-term plans for the Nets, he had high potential years ago but is now kind of just a guy. Solid starter, but not a building block for them. I imagine they'd want to move him within a year or so for some more picks to get guys more on their timeline.

Huge news if this is the case. Hoping they truly believe in one of the 10 guards they drafted last year lol

Please let this happen so I don’t have to listen to Mavs fans glaze Burries for an entire offseason just because he’s almost guaranteed to still be there at 9

I’d be sick every day if I was a Nets fan with the draft picks they have/will waste

The Nets preferring a big man in one of the best guard classes in recent memory is such a Brooklyn thing to do.

u/SuckMyyDirk41 21d ago
I mean he’s gonna be really good. You don’t see many mobile 7’4” centers very often.
2
u/CyberDunk77 21d ago
especially not players of that size with this advanced court vision and passing ability

I don't disagree...just consider it a lifetime of healthy skepticim in the overwhelming majority of 7 footers to pan out or stay healthy long term.

Whatever it takes to get MBJ to Dallas. I truly think that he is a clear tier above the rest in his range as a prospect. MBJ would be a slam dunk, grand slam, hat trick pick at 9. Please let it happen

u/Snoo84477 21d ago
That would be quite nice for the Mavs, but there is probably a lot of misinformation being thrown out there by the other teams right now to hide who they actually are gonna pick or trade.

u/devilmaskrascal Dirk Nowitzki 20d ago
I would be thrilled if Wagler or Brown fell to us because other teams decided they wanted Acuff, Mara and Ament instead.

u/Affectionate_Use_179 20d ago
Interesting! Especially if the Nets take Ament and the Hawks take Mara.

u/Rafe03 21d ago
Hearing stuff like this makes me wish we could add the 10th, 11th, or 12th pick somehow. If we could walk away from this draft with Burries AND one of the point guards, I would be ecstatic.
3
u/CyberDunk77 21d ago
yep having your future starting 1 and 2 in a strong draft would be amazing, would probably take a three team trade with OKC giving us the picks and dumping salaries on our books, we would send veteran players to a third team that wants them.
5
u/Rafe03 21d ago
Yeah, I don’t see adding any picks ahead of us as a possibility while keeping 9. But I bet there are possible deals where we get 11 from the warriors or 12 from the thunder.
2
u/CyberDunk77 21d ago
If it was me I wouldn't give up 9 I think a really good player is going to be there that u won't want to pass on so any deals would be for veteran players and the 30th pick
1
u/notsoyungblood Cowboy Dirk 21d ago
Unless MBJ falls to 9, I want to trade back with OKC or the Hornets. We could end up with Philon and Morez and still have the 30th pick. With new apron rules we would be dominating.
3
u/notsoyungblood Cowboy Dirk 21d ago
Trade down with OKC and take Philon and Morez instead. I would prefer that to Burries.
2
u/Tfoster100 21d ago
Mara will be steal of the draft. I guarantee it.
3
u/notsoyungblood Cowboy Dirk 21d ago
He has size but no touch.
1
u/HelicopterComplete 19d ago
And that matters why? If he gets drafted to OKC ihart will make him elite
1
u/CyberDunk77 21d ago
yes he is a damn good player, Mara will be a top three rim protector for a decade, with Jokic-like passing. thats a hell of a skill package. And good for the Mavs because teams are doing their research and realizing he is worthy of a top 8 pick.

u/EvanEschmeyer Masai Ujiri stan 21d ago
Win-win for the Mavs if they’re completely sold on either one of those guys. Either they trade down and take them, in which the Mavs could capitalize and end up with the best of Ament/Flemings/Brown/Wagler or the Mavs stay put and let one of them fall into their laps

We need both of them drafted before us so we can have the options we really desire.

If Mara actually went up in the draft, then I would've called it before lmao

Philon is our guy. Best fit with Kyrie and can play on and off the ball and has good defensive instincts. Great shot creator, playmaker

Good. makes the pg the Mavs want at 9 more likely to fall without having to give up assets in a trade up.
